what to do against guile? man, im now considering favoring the sagat match-up…(nah) seriously, how do i f*ck guile up…

the gameplan is to abandon charging and walk and inch forward while maneuvering around SBs all the way and own him at the corner…but is hard to apply…

  1. against a slow boom, can i nj. fierce while moving backwards so that i avoid guile’s cr.hp/back hp? or choose not to jump and FA and release it, hoping to get a counter hit against guile’s cr. mk or b/f mk?

  2. when does jump rh. kick owns or trades hit with guiles AA normals, specially cr. hp? jump mp trades often but i want the trade to be in my favor…

i realized that when jumping against an already materialized sonic boom, jump jab beats out air throw attempts and air-to-air normals by guile, but if they did’nt jump you still get hit by cr. hp or back hp.

what can i do when a rufus is divekicking, up close except ex headbutt??
What moves can you use best when facing a rufus?

I believe st.lp can interupt sometimes when he is spamming divekick. I also find lk buttslam to be useful in this match. If Rufus does one slightly to high you can knock him straight out of it.

Dont sit in your usual down back charge during this match. Stay mobile and work those HHS.

Also be careful of nj.fp, if rufus catches on he will j.hk>Ultra you.

yes there is a way out of dive kicks but proper spacing, nj fierce and even a shoto style jump back mp can make you stay out of his offense

im going to traing mode with sim and coming back with AA and ground poke knowledge

balrog (boxer): never ever ever ever do a ex headbutt or jab headbutt when he has full super meter.

balrog CAN punish ex headbutts and jab headbutts on reaction by using the kick buttons for super since it makes them come out a tad faster.

I got beat purty bad by antwan ortiz balrog yesterday in winners finals. If you google search you can see mike ross beating him in the sfiv nationals. His mix ups are disgusting. What I’m wondering is wtf do you do to get in on a rog after he gets life lead. I couldn’t seem to advance forward, his jab rush punch is fast as anything and mix that up with the low rush attacks and I couldn’t seem to guess right. Also should jab headbutt always work as an anti-air or can it be stuffed if hit at the right time/angle?

If you watch the videos you can see he’s pretty aggressive. I couldn’t seem to jab him out of his dash punches either.

I play Gen, and I’m looking to get more familiar with the Honda matchup. For anyone looking to get (more) experience in the Gen matchup just send me an friend request. I only have PSN. Damn, its times like this that I really wish that I had a system to play on, because I want to learn that gen matchup as well…
However I live in San Diego, and we really only have one Gen player, and thats freaking Yeb. I have only played him once, and I was only able to get one round on him. His mk to hands combos are insane, and his ultra setups are godly. Oh well, I just gotta keep trying, hopefully I will be able to beat him one day, lol.

1- keep her out at all costs with nj. fierce, lp headbutt, s.hp, etc. she takes a ton of damage and honda deals more than average. a couple hits and she’s got a lot of ground to make up.

2a- if you’re at a serious life disadvantage and actually have to close in on sakura, j.mp / lp->hands is an okay way to get an opening, or at least put some pressure on. usually i just fight for a knockdown and then go to town with ochio ticks, crossups, and c.mk->hands.

2b- see answer to #1. stay calm and keep honda’s wall of flabby limbs in the way.

For El Fuerte

Don’t know if this has been addressed but only HP/MP headbutt can be punished with reversal timing.

Can Zangief punish all jump-in attacks with SPD on block? I was playing a a Gief last night and I would go into mk hand or lp hands after an blocked jump-in attack but would get punished every time. I didn’t know he could do this. Or could it have been my links? I rarely mess up those links though.

Hi everyone, a couple of elementary matchup questions:

  1. Against Rufus, i find that lp headbutt loses out to double dive kick into grab. S.hp isn’t too reliable either. Is there a rule of thumb about which one to use and when?

  2. When Ryu or shotokens do tick grabs, can i lp headbutt them? I’ve tried it in game but i’m not sure if its possible cuse nothing happens (still in blockstun probably). the question is whether the top half start up invincibility beats it out? I mean the grabs are 3 frames, their lp tick gives them +5, so is there a really tight window for me to do it or something?

  3. Sagat question - i have a solid life lead against a sagat…he backs off and shoots tiger shots. 40~50 seconds on the timer. Should i just jump the fireballs for the 40~50 seconds or should i edge in closer and pressure?

  1. Neither. Light or med buttslam has a better rate of effectiveness, depending on how far away the dive starts. NJ med kick is nice too.

  2. Ex headbutt works better. Personally, if I have charge, I like to light buttslam. The wiff animation for shotos before getting crushed is always satisfying.

  3. I guess that depends on the situation.

if you notice that gief is doing that you can do your jump in attacks a little later so that the block stun lasts longer.

or if it’s obvious he’s doing that, just let him block the jump in and jump or back dash on your landing and punish his whiffed spd.

  1. i’m guessing you’re talking about then 2nd dive kick or dive kicks during pressure… the easiest way to get out of this is jump back rh or jump back fp. this option easily beats the dive kick and gets you away from throw. however it loses if they do a crouching attack or guess with a jump forward rh.
    other things you can do lk buttslam, lp hb vs delayed dive kick, ex hb vs fast dive kick. actually ex hb works vs all dive kicks if you wait and do it late but you will get thrown a lot when the other person notices.

  2. no they can easily throw you out of lp headbutt because it takes forever to be considered off the ground. however, ex hb as well as buttslam work well for this since both go into the air quickly.
    the best option a lot of time is late option select crouch tech. just watch out for frame traps designed to punish this. (you pretty much will only see good players do this though)

  3. i try to push sagat into the corner pretty much always. even with the life lead i like to be close to sagat. he just doesn’t have a good answer to cr.lp xx hhs other than guess srk. i suppose if you have really good jumping skills you can dodge tiger shots all round but i almost always see this back fire on people unless there’s like less than 20s left. also, keep in mind if you let him continue to fire tiger shots he’s building meter while you’re not.

um against dhalsim when your neutral jumping i know nj fierce trades or beats his st. RH and mk from a certain distance but loses to down back fp? or is it df fp? either way you cant hit it with that move so of course your going to land right on it…my question is can anyone or has anyone tried neutral jump jab?(the small chop that look exactly like the jump in mp) will this beat that or trade? or about how about neutral jump lk i’m more interested in the chop and since i cant do this myself right now i would appreciate anyone looking into this

and when should i use the FA besides 3/4 screen when he tries that long range poke and can i let the focus go and hit him?
