The New Definitive HDTV Lag FAQ

Yea, but I got mine last year for $388 instead of $288. Other than the lag, it is a really nice TV. Wouldn’t it be cool if Sony and MS should have lag calibration menus built into the firmware…

i use the Asus VH232H same size as the VH236H has no lag. great to play on.

any way to fix this? i could get a ps3 or an xbox 360 in a week from now… should i get one over an other to fix the lag???

get 360. then get an hdmi cable and a microsoft vga cable.

play on hdmi with game mode enabled (if it has it) then play on vga pc mode with the other cable. its a toss up which will lag less…if any.

so this will GUARANTEE no lag???

and can that walmart blackdeal special t.v do this?

The one I have has no vga input, and lags just bad on the rca inputs. Bummer, man.

if u took some time to read this thread, there is no LCD tv that has no lag.

NONE. those methods wont even gaurantee that ur set will lag less then the worst of them… its a toss up. now stop asking dumb questions and read back a little bit.

if you want no lag, play on a old school crt television with av cables.

okay, first, F.U you 09’ User. I did read, but around page 40, they start saying that the first page is outdated… go suck a sac somewhere:lame:

That’s a pretty weak rebuttal.

they were referring to vga ports and post processing.

yeah ive tried it picture quality suffered and on the bravia i hooked it up to (kdl40v4100) it didnt even make a diffrence in the ms numbers(according to rockband 2 )

wow serious? Then I won’t get hd fury GE.

Aiight you dumbfuck 03’er.
Be happy i took seconds i shouldnt have wasted on your dumbass out of my life to answer your idiotic question that was made clear in this thread within the past few pages by me and a few other posters in this thread.

If u read just the last 5-10 pages ud know there for a fact that theres no fucking guarantee for anything accept that every lcd hdtv screen is guaranteed to lag.

Uve read a post saying the first post is outdated? then read on u nim-wit. Contributers to this thread (me, a few others) post answers throughout the pages.
thats why they are posted, for them to be read. not for us to keep posting the same shit over and over. so u saying “i did read” was the dumbest thing u could have possibly said, but then again i dont expect anything more from someone like you.

On another note.

Well “according to rockband2” doesnt mean much bro. But it still is a risky purchase since your TV may lag the same rn just badly on any connection type. U might get lucky and find that the HD fury makes a pretty big difference on your set. Id only buy one if u have a ps3 though. no real need to get one for 360 when it comes to reducing lag.

picked up 2 samsung 63 inch plasma pn63b550 and they are incredible tv’s really happy with them will report back if any lag no noticable lag at this point but havent did any GH test

dont do a GH test. Its pointless ^

If u have rockband, then thats better but stilll not accurate.

I knew something felt off. My bro got this tv and I played on it and I was like whoa something feels way off. Switched to game mode and it did make it better but something just still feels off I’m using an HDMI cable by the way to composites. And just to make sure it’s this tv http://www.walmart.com/Emerson-32-LCD-HDTV-Tuner/ip/10913075 right? Same model and all?

And randomly can someone point me in the right direction on how to perform a lag test so I can test some things out on 2 of my tvs?

No need to be dicks guys. Rock Band and Guitar Hero tests are all pointless.

Hi - If someone could please help it would be much appreciated

im going to pull the trigger on an ASUS monitor. I have a Sony Bravia Z5500 with updated firm ware. i really dont notice any lag, but ive been told its there and i just cant live like that…also im running 2 dell IPS panels on my PC (beautiful, but been told do lag) and thought , hell, i need a gaming monitor

im sure colours and everything are fine on the ASUS, ive got nice panels for quality, for this all i give a shit about is input lag.

The options, as I understand them are as follows:

Firstly the EVO monitor is quoted by people as being both the VW236H and VH236H… now both of these are 2ms response (i know this is not input lag) and i cant see the difference…any numbers on lag? anyone know what seperates these?

Secondly…I want 24" or 26"…Im thinking Vw246H or vw266H…I have searched high and low, but no where can i find a decent response to whether they share the same lagless qualities as the 23".

Finally…I have found a cheaper, VH246H…the ‘h’ suggests it is the same range as the evo one, but the response time is 5ms (again i know not input lag) however this suggests a different panel.

basically…has anyone proved or knows a good link where someone has confirmed a 24 or 26 ASUS monitor to have EVO quality laglessness?

i dont care what people think, rekon or feel, i just wondered if anyone has actually measured it.

thanks all…

ps. i know this has been touched on in other threads across SRK, but nowhere is there a satisfactory answer…im sure someone in the SF scene has taken the time to find out what 24/26 inch monitor is really ‘lagless’

I just looked at the specs, and they’re different tvs. Mine only has two hdmi inputs and that one has 3. Also I have no Game Mode:sad:

Do the Rock Band 2 test and let us know.

My TV is the samsung ln32a650, there is game mode which helps and still have noticable lag. When the day comes whenever I decide to get HD fury, I’ll have to try and see what happens.
