A quick question can anyone confirm if the Asus V203T is as good as the regular EVO monitor? I am on an excessive budget and was going to go with the 203T, or the Asus VH232.
After messing around and reading for 2hrs, I’ve come up with a quasi-solution.
I went into the Xbox 360 display configuration and had the console display at its lowest resolution (I actually forgot what it is), then I had my tv (Sharp Aquos 46" LC-46D85UN) set to stretch the picture into a normal 4:3 display. The picture is kinda fuzzy and you will have sidebars (the black bars you get from showing a non-widescreen picture on a widescreen display). But if it means being able to play SF4 in a virtually lagless environment using your already existing 1080p tv, why not?
If anyone has any experience regarding this method, let me know. Thx!
I just got a plasma (pioneer kuro) and I have to say its pretty dayam good compare to other big screen LCDs in terms of input lag!
I don’t want to jump to conclusion and say its low/zero lag, but when I played sf4 on it for shit and jiggle …it feels pretty good simmilar to my low/zero lag set ups.
the only drawback is that the image doesn’t look as good compare to my uber monitor…
As soon as I have time I will do a 60fps camera test.
You didn’t do enough reading. Your TV will lag more in this setup than in 1080p. Find any old article about upscaling or downscaling and you’ll quickly figure out why.
Shinsho: TV sounds great. Looks like an fairly obscure brand though.
Did you manage to do the PS3/360 test with another game by the way? I’m really keen to know whether it’s just SF4 that has a difference.
So after talking with a few home entertainment associates at my local Fry’s and actually demoing different tv’s, this is what I was able to find out.
HDMI cables can make a difference, simply put. After testing generic brand HDMI cables, Phillips low-end HDMI cables, and actual Monster HDMI cables, in front of my face, it was determined that the HDMI cables that marketed higher bandwidth and throughput had no imperceivable input lag.
I wish I was able to walk out with actual testing numbers, but he said that it would be absolutely cool if I came in and did more testing. He was quite intrigued about the whole idea of input lag and how it exists. Anyone else out there have any experiences with testing HDMI cables?
I bought some Monster HDMI 13.8Gbps cables and now my input lag that I experienced earlier is nonexistent. Keep in mind the only variable is the HDMI cables, still using the same Xbox 360 and same tv (Sharp Aquos 46" LC-46D85UN).
I can’t tell if your posts are being made in jest or if you actually are trying but are just failing to do the proper research.
-None of the tests in your pictures are against a CRT or a display with established lag performance. So there’s no base line to prove anything by them.
-Your solution for input lag is anything but a solution. Lowering the resolution just means there’s more work the the display to do to even be able to display a picture.
-Monster cables are a complete waste of money. That’s been stated in this thread several times. Also I have no idea what you mean by " imperceivable input lag…" Even if the cables has extra bandwidth (which considering Monster, I doubt) the 360 has an HDMI1.2 port on it. The supposed extra bandwidth is totally wasted.
You have no numbers to go buy just what you think you perceive, which could easily have been influanced buy the salesman beside you who seemed so Interested.
I give you credit for trying (assuming you are), but you seem to be shooting off the cuff with half-information and managed to get bamboozled into buying Monster cables.
Stop posting, stop spreading your ignorance and start reading. The fact that you bought monster cables tells everyone here you shouldn’t be listened to.
Going to post my test and results, I’m pretty sure I’m not doing this right.
1.) I hooked my notebook up to my tv (VISIO V0320E) with an HDMI cable
2.) I ran some clock/countdown footage from my notebook, displaying it on the screen
3.) I took a picture of both displays
numbers displayed were the same down to the millisecond. Is this at all useful.
How many times do people have to tell you that HDMI brand doesn’t matter!!!
digital is digital!!
no shit the fry’s employee will tell you that it will make a difference cause they want to sell you the most expensive shit.
Like I said, I took a very respected AV course and even the professor who had years of experience doing home theater install said that HDMI brand won’t matter.
Lets just say that he doesn’t have anything good to say about monster cable.
