If anyone here is considering to buy a panasonic plasma, you have nothing to worry about in terms of screen burn. I’ve had mine for about 11 months and all I have done is play games on it. I average about 3 hours of gaming on a daily basis and I have never experienced image retention.
When I first purchased the plasma, I put the brightness and contrast to 50percent and only played blu rays for the first 150 hours to ease the screen in like you would with a new car.
I’m sorry. I understand you don’t know the latency of this particular model. I was asking for some advice. But - perhaps I can ask this;
Are all VGA inputs post processing free, or free of the issues usually found in HDMI inputs? Or do some TV’s do that on their VGA’s as well? If no, then its logical that any devent specd HD LCD TV with a VGA input can produce a decent game of SF? If yes, then would it be more logical then to buy a large format display to avoid this? As this seems to be the suggestion of the original poster. Furthermore, do the specs of the large format display I posted seem to lean towards it being ideal to avoid latency?
I’m trying to sort this out on my own - but I would appreciate any help or advice anyone can chime in on.
All VGA inputs are not post processing free. Some Displays Displayed better results on HDMI with “game mode” enabled then in PC mode thru VGA.
Response has nothing to do with Input lag (for the 30,000th time)
Sheets of specs usually dont lean twards giving you any Idea about how much an LCD will lag. Commercial display LCD’s do tend to lag less then HDTV’s so your not too far off with that idea.
That being said, there are ZERO lcds to date to be tested with 0ms of input lag vs a CRT.
and only a handful of TESTED displays 32" and bigger tested with input lag low enough to be acceptable by “pros” or anyone sensitive to input lag.
Its pretty frustrating i know, when it comes to LCD’s and lag. I have done tons of research in the past few months…the only answer i can give you is buy it and test it yourself. if your not satisfied return it. Theres really no consistency when it comes to what lags. Certain samsung models are very good when VGA is used…others are terrible still…same goes with every brand.

Will do, thanks.

no, Vewlixs are not lag free either, and the L-Vewlixs can produce more lag than the consumer grade LCDs like the ones at best buy.

Thank you very much. I can only imagine the amount of time and frustration into sorting through all of this. You have certainly made me weary of buying the LCD I listed, as it is Montreal I an in Newfoundland. Shipping it here will cost me 200 and shipping it back and fourth is not something I want to get into. eff me.
Could you recommend what is my best option walking into any of the lcoal stores… you say there are some solid 32 inches around? To which one are you referring? If I was going 37 inch is there a particular Samsung you are thinking?
Again - I really appreciate it Hardbodycore. Clearly you are saving me hours.
Its just so weird, i never thought gaming can go to this level.
Back in my day, you buy a console, plug it in and play.
I attended my first tourny a week ago and was wondering why none of my inputs come out. Now I know viper’s moves are crucial to timing and execution, but who would ahve though it would have affected it that much?
Its just doesn’t make sense in my mind that I must find a specific tv in order to perform well in tournies…seems a bit much…but i guess i either have to bite the bullet and play on a crt, or just play at home…
Im still shock how a few ms can affect my viper sooooo much… my seismo to bk wasnt even coming out. i looked like a total noob…
I think my LCD broke a few months back and found paliyng on a CRT was easier, i thought i was imagining things…but…i saw ur posting and you mentioned that playing on lag free monitors will improve my game or make her easier to use…is there a reason for this? I mean, isnt all just muscle memory and the moves are executed with a slight delay…after if i gotten used to her in lag mode…dont i just adjust her slightly?
Lastly…since you are a viper user…do you notice any differences in using her on lag vs lag free tv/monitors, or am im just making excuses?
Seriously, guys, if you’re not certain about a specific TV’s input lag, get the model number and Google that plus “input lag”. There are other people in the world who really care about this stuff too - people who play music rhythm games and FPS games are the other two big groups concerned with input lag besides hardcore fighting game fans.
If your search yields no results, move on to the next one. That’s what I did - don’t chance it if you find nothing. If no one out there has taken the time to test for input lag, it’s probably not a good gaming TV.
It also helps to make an account at AVSForums. People oftentimes post up input lag results there so I consider it a very good resource.
One last thing: the OP in this thread is OLD. TVs now have post-processing on their VGA ports, and using TVs as monitors has become more and more popular; it’s a sad fact of life. Or, like in my case, the VGA port will only support a particular resolution, so that doesn’t do you much good. Just keep that in mind. An HDFury or VGA cable is still a viable option in some cases, but unlike a few years ago, it won’t magically cure input lag altogether.
The best LCD ive played on is samsungs LN32a650 which is discontinued but u can still find them online. ONLY if you are using VGA though. samsungs a650 line feels amazingly good for a LCD display through vga using the xbox360. the newer b650’s and b630s arent any good though. smh.
Panasonics 32LZ800 also lags very little when in game mode on its native resolution. but this set is also discontinued. u can find them on amazon if u search.
