BREAKING NEWS!!!
I just tested xbox360 vs ps3 using the 60fps camera method.
using equal everything, both using TE sticks.
Seem like the ps3 may have 1 frame extra inherent lag than the xbox360!!
will do further testing just to make sure!!

I have both versions and the 360 version feels a bit more smooth and fast while the PS3 version is a little slower and a bit slugish.
i think someone already did that test with xbox and ps3 versions of SF4. they set both machines up together and had Ryu jump at the same time for a long time to see if they would break sync. they eventually broke sync, but it took a really long time; like so long the lag wouldn’t matter. i’m not 100% sure though.
But that tested speed, not input lag.
Could you possibly do this test using HDR? Pleeeaase???
You are right i was lucky enough to pick one from frys today for 499$, so far i can pull my combos easier with this lcd will do the test with another regular monitor and post the results when i have them, thanks
Please do the stopwatch test if you can, I want to see what the numbers are like. Like I said earlier, I bought a 37LH30 and I feel like there’s a noticeable amount of input lag, even through HDMI with the PC input label (turns off most postprocessing). Mine was manufactured in July 2009, to the dude who wanted the serial number earlier, so it doesn’t have the godlike panel the first run of LH30s had.
Did you test them on a CRT or 720p set? If not the 1 frame lag isn’t going to be consistent. Depending on the scaler that amount could change significantly.
That’s easily fixed by setting the 360 to 720p though.
shinsho: If you could test other multiplatform fighting games as well if you can, I’d appreciate it.
edit: double post
I don’t believe you can evey completely eliminate lag from these HD panels. Also that’s a HDMI to DVI cable. Most of the sets that we’ve seen thus far reduce lag on the VGA input.
^no.
yes.
Was that a response to me or samanuske?
I would but to do so I will need to get games for both systems which I may sooner or later
I’ve tested it on all my low/zero input lag units
a CRT
a 1080p LCD
and a 720p LCD
So far its been consistent but I will do further testing to make sure.
yup exactly what I did.
I really doubt it…you’re converting a digital signal to a digital signal, only useful if you monitor/tv only has DVI.
If you’re referring to the Panasonic I posted which looks to be lagless, you can still get them on Amazon for like $400.
If anyone is concerned about image retention on newer plasmas… Don;t worry about it. They have much better anti-image retention technologies in place now than they did back when the common word on the internets was, “Don’t get a plasma, they have burn-in problems”.
@ samanuske: What model is your Panasonic? The VGA port on mine reduced the input lag by maybe 2-5ms, so it MIGHT be worth it. The downside is, on the G-Series at least, the VGA port only supports up to I think 1024x768, so I don’t use it.
@seatmomike: Again, what model is your Panasonic? Having done the RB2 test and the CRT vs. Plasma stopwatch test on my TV, I can say that the RB2 test is off by anywhere between 5-10ms consistently. I don’t know if it’s that way for all displays or what, but it always added at LEAST 5ms to my response time versus what the CRT test gave me, and I trust the CRT test more.

Hi guys,
Could one of the many experts here help me. picking something out is getting to be a real pain - as I really don’t know what to go with.
I’m thinking of the Hig Def Pro Display below and using its VGA input from my Xbox 360. Will this be lagless even though this LCD says it has a 6.5ms response time. I am trying to absorb the information from this thread - but I would love for someone to chime in or even suggest an alternative that is cheaper. Am I wrongfully assuming this option is better than just going into my local Future Shop picking out a great 37 40 42 inch LCD TV that has a VGA input and lower response in ms and it will be as good if not better?
thanks for your help up front!
Ian

@annihilation, my panasonic plasma is the TH42PZ85B. Is there a VGA cable available for the ps3 and what’s the difference between a dvi and a VGA cable?
The quality of the signal through a DVI or HDMI is the same. DVI is a little bigger, it reminds me of a wider VGA. The downfall of DVI is that it does not carry an audio signal.
