The New Definitive HDTV Lag FAQ

Theres no real game mode from what I could find. Only a “game mode” setting which adjusts the contrast and what not.

Game mode is supposed to turn off all unnecessary functions.

It is located in the main options.

I have to scrounge up a cord to run my ghetto CRT in sync with the L32C3, as I thought I had one, but evidently lost it.

I’ll try and get it up as soon as I can.

As I see it.

PureElite- Could you try it through HDMI?

CLU 2 - Awesome, eagerly awaiting the results.

Yup, yup.

I’ll try and snag a cable that’ll hookup my CRT to my video card today when I go to Best Buy.

I’m returning/exchanging my TC-L32C3 due to its not lighting up evenly (the bottom left corner is noticeably brighter), but I just noticed this, as I wasn’t using it for almost two weeks on account of hacking up a lung or two, lol.

I wish I hadn’t already shipped my Evo Monitor back home with my first load of stuff, but I thought I had the cord I needed. :\

@PUREELITE:

So… 0~30 ms of lag, not frames, correct?

Game mode is one of the main setting options for the T.V. so it should have presented you with said option upon setting up your HDMI cable for the first time (it did for me).

EDIT:

PUREELITE picked up the TC-L32U3, not the TC-L32C3.

The one he got is native 1080.

I’ve got to wonder what this does to his input lag reading, given that it must downscale to 720.

As I see it.

CLU:

Yea I meant ms of lag, not frames. As for game mode, you’re talking about the setting under Picture mode right? In the main menu.

As for running it with HDMI, I have just hooked it up with a DVI-HDMI cable and have it at the correct resolution now. I will run more tests on it with my CRT since my samsung monitor can’t do 1080. I will probably downscale the resolution to 720 and run tests on this as well.

After spending about a week researching, then dealing with one huge headache of a shipping-return, I’m ready to blow my brains out because of sheer information overload. :wasted:

I’m looking for a 32" 720p LCD primarily for gaming, with as little input lag as possible, all for under $375.

Long story short: was looking to order a new TV to kick off spring break with, and after reading so much on how awesome the Panny L32X1 was, I put in an order to amazon for the X2 model. Unfortunately for me, I find out too late that the X2 has an atrocious 4 frames of lag. Anyways, UPS dropped the ball and the TV arrived too late for me to enjoy it, and to top it off, it was the wrong TV, so I’m back to square one.

At this point, I’ve skimmed through about 100+ pages of posts from the AVS ‘Input Lag Wars’ thread & this one combined, and right now its all blurring together in my head.

Would really appreciate a few suggestions from you fine folks,

Thanks.

You should go to a local bestbuy and check out the L32C3. It is a 32" 720P Alpha-IPS panel. We should have decent numbers on it soon, but it’s likely to have less than 2 frames of lag.

no. I can’t speak for it with the 3D on, but the panasonic VT25 plasma had great results in my tests. The Samsung PN C8000 (their equivelant 3D plasma) was horrible.

Just picked this up from bestbuy…$359. The damn weekly sale has it advertised as 1080p. Oh well.

Yeah, I just saw the L32C3 in the weekly BB ad. I know what you’re saying about the 1080p listing, since it’s only 720p. But check out what amazon says on their page:

Native resolution: 1366 x 768 pixels

HDTV display capability: 1080p, 1080i, 720p

Weird, right? It’s not even up on the Panasonic website yet, so IDK what they’re going to say about it.

Anyways, once I see some hard numbers for the L32C3, I’ll probably go and pick one up.

Sorry for the off topic post, but I don’t know where else to ask…Have any of you guys experienced an off color balance with the new tc-l32 viera pannys? The tc-l32u3 I bought has a severe blue tint to it compared with my 22" samsung monitor. The colors don’t look natural at all. I’ve tried messing with the color balance but it doesn’t help. Its been bothering me so much that i’m thinking about returning it. I’m wondering if it is specific to mine (defective). Please let me know so I can better decide what I want to do with this tv.

Does the screen have any colour “temperature” settings? Temperature options tend to invoke a bluish tinge to everything if they are enabled - if such a setting exists, maybe try tinkering with the options it presents. Many setups typically have three main colour temperature settings which will alter the way colours are displayed.

CLU2, wheres the numbers man!? I’m dyin over here…

Guys! Guys! I bought the 47ld450!!! I’m just waiting for it to come in the mail!

It’s been tested to have 1-2 frames of lag MAX!!! Yeah so I’m excited sue me.

Does anyone have a LCD Samsung 32C530?

My TV has 32-47 ms of input lag (2-3 frames).
Any advice / settings to improve the input lag?

Thx

Has anyone used HD Fury on Sony or Samsung HDTVs that lag normally? If so which models? I ask because I prefer using HD Fury over driving myself nuts trying to find the perfect TV and my preference lies with Sony and Samsung.

I know all Sony and Samsungs aren’t the same but I just want an idea so i don’t waste my time.

Hate to break it to you buddy but given Sony and Samsung’s track records you may have to change your preferences.

What effect does changing the resolution have on input lag like when a tv has a native resolution that’s different from what the game runs at?

Using a vga cable for 360 gives me a whole range of options, not sure what I should be picking if I’m playing the old SNK games on xbla.

Tested the Panasonic Viera TC-L37U3 in vga mode with game mode on and source labeled as game, resulting in 0 ms lag and hdmi port 2 also 0 ms lag.
HDMI port 1 gives random lag from 0 to 30 ms.

Will post pics later

Vga:

HDMI:

OH GOD YES! heh. cant wait to see.
I’m Between this and the l42u30.

Both are 2011 models so I’m very hopeful the 42 inch would also have no lag!
