I was wondering, I’m using a vizio 32’ razor led/lcd hdtv. I used to use it on hd settings, but I switched to using my comp/av wire and switched to those settings. I wanted to know if these settings would reduce lag or if it just changes the picture. Also I can change the ps3 settings to 480i, 720p, 1080p, or 1080i. Should i just change it to 480p? or would 720p be ok for playing with minimal lag. Also does 480p, 720p, 1080p, 1080i make a difference in lag? I have not done the guitar hero check for lag, but I know for a fact that I am lagging a bit while playing ssf4 on my tv. Thanks for the help in advance.
Input lag wars!, post your input lag results of your LCD display here for refrence - AVS Forum
This link will help you out. Been curious how the new Pannys would measure up. Please let us know if you get around to testing.
I just saw this article:
Toshiba shows off dual-core-powered Z2 HDTVs, Regza app for Android – Engadget
Hopefully its as good as it says. If so I’m definitely getting it.
Oh wow, thanks for the heads up. Yes, please please please let these be as good as they are claiming. I would drop a lot of money on launch for something like this.
I have it. There may be at least 2 frames of input lag. My game still feels the same timing wise but there may be at least 2 frames as per the rockband test and based on the review of the the W2363D which is the 120hz version. That one has about 2 frames of lag. Its not noticeable. Here is the review. LG Flatron W2363D
Here is the input lag review. Product Face-Offs Monitors - DigitalVersus
You have to use the drop list to find the lag numbers.
FYI. The Samsung PX2370 has les input lag than the EVO monitor as per this comparison. Product Face-Offs Monitors - DigitalVersus
Again, you have to use the dropdown.
Sorry guys, I was in bed with pneumonia caliber flu all last week. :\
I’ll test it out this week, and get the results up in a day or two!
EDIT:
Actually, I’m somewhat curious as to the aforementioned factor of 1366 x 768.
Is a 1366 x 768 better for dealing with up/down-scaling than a true 1080?
Because Best Buy has the true 1080 version of this one (the U tier) on sale now, for a negligible amount more than I paid for the L32C3.
If it’s a better trade-off, I’m thinking of returning the 1366 x 768 L32C3 for the L32U3.
RE-EDIT:
The O.G. TC-L32X1 KNOWN to have 0 input lag, vis. the avforum testing, was, in fact, a 1366 x 768 panel.

So I’d have to surmise this to be a non-issue.
Tomorrow I’ll lug my ghetto 23" CRT/DVD out, and see if I have the proper cord to hook it up to my laptop, and get those tests a’running.
As I see it.
Good shit, totally understandable why we haven’t heard from you.
Don’t forget that apparently, the game mode on this set is actually supposed to reduce lag, or at least it says so here: Amazon.com: Panasonic VIERA TC-L32C3 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV: Electronics
Either way, looking forward to the results!
Do 3D TVs have even more lag, in general?
Anyone know if using an HDMI splitter, a VGA aplitter or a component splitter introduces any lag?
Almost all 720p sets will actually have 1366x768 panels.
Most splitters will not induce lag. Most… But that can be easily tested by doing a test in one configuration then switching ports and repeating the test. Or just testing two identical TVs (or monitors) against each other.
Does it matter whether the splitter is powered or not?
Lucked out and found a TCL32X1 can anybody tell me what resolution for VGA I should set my 360 to?
doesnt that tv output at 720p? then you should as well to minimize the amount of scaling and whatnot
The site says VE246H. Which one did you test? VH or VE? They’re two different models.
First time testing a monitor. Here are some photos that I took of the '11 Panasonic TC-L32E3 . I hope they help.
Tv connected via hdmi with all enhancers turned off (Didn’t see a game mode in the settings section)

If the menus are still the same, game mode is not in the video settings section. It’s somewhere hidden in the misc settings, which is quite annoying.
10-35ms with game mode off makes me hopeful for what game mode can do.
Can you explain what is the “O.G.” Also is there 0 input lag on larger screens?
I am looking for a gaming TV/monitor and would prefer something in the 42-46 inch range with about 1500 give or take to spend.
Hey guys. Was researching an hdtv in this thread and decided to pick up a 2011 panny TC-L32U3 from Bestbuy. I tested it against a proven 0 frame input lag samsung 226BW monitor. Hooked up the panny via vga. I got 0 ~ 30 ms lag :). Here are some photos.

That’s the same as the other guy. Did you have game mode on for your tests?
