Well, I went ahead and bought the LG 32" LD350. I’ll worry about what i’m going to do for audio later. I really don’t want to pay $300 for the Logitech Z5500 speakers, just for the optical input. (Any other recommendations are welcome)
I’m going to test this tv for lag tonight with an old crt, will report back in a day or two with some pics.
If it lags more than 1 frame, I’m just gonna take it back for a refund until I can find something better.
Well i got this hooked up to my Vewlix clone from Kray. Im using 4" car speakers running it through an amp. Sounds great! Im curious to see how the lag goes but really i havn’t notice at all.
I think i might just go with the samsung. what can i do to reduce as much lag as possible without sacrificing anything important? i also heard to turn on game mode you have to name the input on the tv to “game”. is there any truth to this?
After reading the 1st few post, I’ve decided to go the HDFury + DVDO Edge route. My only question is, which ver. of the HD Fury will I need if I’m looking to hook up my PS2/3 up to my Sony Bravia?
I did the input lag test last night. To me the average seemed to be between 15ms and 31ms, with 31ms being the more common number. Maybe someone else can grasp a more definitive answer from the pictures.
It has 1 to 2 frames of delay depending on how you interpret the pictures. In my opinion 2 frames of delay would make blocking certain moves consistently near impossible.
I used a PC to do the input lag test over HDMI.
I did run the Rock Band 3 calibration test twice with my 360 via component. The results were 11ms and 16ms which is about 1 frame of delay.
The TH-C42HD18 has 6ms, but it has Game mode so I dont know the exact number to determine what is what. The TH-42px80u, on the other hand is WHACK. 8ms, but that as well has game mode so Idk
I’ve been looking into the Sony BRAVIA KDL-46EX710, and it’s a little difficult to tell from all the information out there (and in this thread, for which I am incredibly grateful, btw).
I have an old Sony KV-34XBR800 HD CRT, and it’s generally believed that HD CRTs have minimal, if no input lag (most agree there is none, but there are those that say there is slight, in the < 5ms range of input lag on HD CRTs) which I use component cables for out of a PS3 and XBox360. Unfortunately, the power board is fried (I’ve already had it repaired once) and at ~250lbs, it’s just impossible to keep getting fixed anymore (just getting the repairmen to come get it costs $$$).
That said, I’m going to pull the trigger on the KDL-46EX710 (from Crutchfield, free shipping, no tax, 20% of the first HDMI cable with purchase, woo hoo!) right after I post this. If I can do any kind of definitive test, I’ll post it up, but at the least, I’ll post up the “feel” (which of course, should be taken with a grain of salt, as this is perception-based and not scientific by any means).
