The New Definitive HDTV Lag FAQ

Anyone know of any cheap computer speakers for alienware 2210 to ps3/xbox360?

If it has a VGA or DVI input, use that and name it “Game”, otherwise, just try naming the HDMI connection “Game”. You’ll still probably get 2-5 frames though – Samsungs are just like that, beautiful but a little slow.

Yo! To my knowledge, the 37in version does not have the IPS Alpha panel. The panel is what makes the 32X1 so good with regards to input lag. The TCL32G1 and S1 both have the IPS Alpha panel apparently, but I haven’t been able to find any tests that are as conclusive as those for the X1 (I have found some S1 tests that look good though).

So ok I bought some Logitech speakers for my VH236H but I can’t get the sound to come out of the speakers. On the monitor, there is an SPDIF and an Audio-In with a picture of headphones next to it. So I tried pluggin my speakers to the Audio-In but it doesn’t work, then I tried using headphones, and that isn’t working either. How do I get my speakers to work? Is SPDIF the only output for speakers in this monitor?

EDIT: Forget this post lol. I didn’t see the headphone jack behind the audio-in jack earlier.

Someone posted a tv but are there any 20+ inch widescreen lcd monitors that have lag about as low as the vh236h but are 120hz? Or at least 75hz? I can easily tell the difference between the refresh rates.

Can someone explain to me the VGA console cable thing?

I recently bought a 1080p Asus LCD 23’’ monitor and I just recently matched the system link for the 1080p.

Now I have both the xbox 360 HDMI cable, and the xbox 360 VGA cable. Can someone explain to me which one I should be using?

I have the Asus VH232H

According to http://www.all-monitors.com/compares/asus_vh232h_vs_asus_vh236h

The only difference is 5ms and 2ms response time.

For the ASUS, just use HDMI. We have no evidence that VGA reduces image processing on that model line.

Ok thanks, and just another thing. Is it good enough for low input lag or am I off base?

I have the Panasonic L32X1 and it is really great, but I usually play my 360 on it via HDMI. Would I be better off using a VGA cable?

So I’m looking to pick up a large LED LCD (50+ inches). Anyone know a good one for gaming? I’m sure they all lag but just looking for someone with some experience with it.

question for my evo monitor (asus vh236h) on my xbox 360 do i just put display on 1080p and use any hdmi cable?

Talking about Imput Lag, sorry I forgot to verify.
When I play VS mode, the imputs seem to not come out sometimes. Worse then online,
I thought VS would be flawless.

Any reason behind this>?

are there any lcd/led hdmi tvs out there (40"+) that would give me the same performance (or better) as the asus evo monitor?

Does anyone know if using a HDfury with a Samsung F86 (46 inch model) would reduce input lag?

On some model Samsungs the VGA port apparently disables more inherent processing than enabling GAME mode would, but i cannot find anything relating to this specific model circa 2008.

Thankyou in advance.

If the game’s not reading your input, that’s not a monitor problem.

I have purchased the LCD HDTV AOC L42H961 and the lag is very noticeable on Castlevania:LoS, SF4 and SSF4, and MvC2(all for 360). It really isn’t much for action movies as well. I have it hooked up to an HDMI cord, but i’m sure it isnt the problem? It doesn’t pick up my input on time in SF4, but i’m still able to plink and the input lag is usually 2-3 frames. anybody else has this HDTV?

Hey guys, i plan on getting my first hdtv and i’m sort of stuck on deciding. The tv i’m looking for is for my bedroom and should be 32’’. i also would prefer something with at least 60hz refresh rate since i like the real life movement of the picture. My biggest concern is buying something that maybe way too laggy. I know hdtv’s are not 100% lag free but anything close to lag free with my preferences would be nice. if anyone can help me out would be much appreciated.

this samsung is something i considered

I went w/ 32" LG LD350, so far its pretty good. With the naked eye i dont notice any lag, Im able to perform all my moves & can do reversals. The only problem is that i’ve been accustom to playing HDR in 19" screen, now it just seems way to big. My eyes hasn’t really adjusted to it yet as i have to play up really close.

Samsung i heard have one of the higher lag inputs…Then again all this lag input thing seems way overrated.

I almost bought the ld350 today, but then I noticed it only had a digital optical output for audio. What kind of speaker set up do you plan on using in your cab. (I believe you were searching for a tv to put in your vewlix from kray?)

so is this tv any good?
