The New Definitive HDTV Lag FAQ

So what is the current best 32 inch on the market with the least amount of input lag that you can still currently get?

Need one soon to put in my Kraylix.

im a big noob when it comes to this kind of stuff and was wondering if you guys can help me with deciding between 2 LCD monitors: Asus VW246H, and Asus VH236H. I’m going to be sitting from 6-8 feet away from the monitor, and i dont know if size matters from that distance.

Also if you have a better suggestion, let me know

I’ve been looking at the Samsung LN40C530 and the Sony KDL40EX400, the Samsung apparently has 35ms input lag (the 32" has 14ms, but I already have a 32"…I want bigger). Can’t find any info online about the lag for the Sony one, does anyone know? Or can anyone recommend a good 40" TV?

Is the VW246H the same as the VH236H (EVO monitor) in terms of lag?

Also, is VH232H the same as the VH236H in terms of lag?

The 232H has a VGA input that I would really love and the 236H just has HDMI/DVI it seems.

^^^^ can someone please help me out with this please

Anyone can quickly summarize the bevy of hdfury options? Website has my brain spinning in circles. So many choices, so much money. My TV has a VGA in. Game mode does not help the noticeable lag i feel when playing on PS3 even offline.

The “gamer” edition seems like all I’d need. Advice?
Or should i just go with that cheapo Wii/PS3 VGA HDTV AV Cable?

I have a VH236H. It’s currently at my apartment at school, but I am quite certain that it has a VGA input. Also, a quick check online also falls in line with my experiences.

I sit at least 7ft away from the monitor when I play games and have no problems with the screen size.

have you played 2 players online on call of duty: black ops or some type of split screen game? if so, does it seemed crammed while playing?

Unfortunately, no I haven’t. If I had to guess, I think it would be kind of hard for both players to see at 6ft. I am very picky about split screen though, so take it with a grain of salt. :cybot:

lol alright, thanks for the help

It’s looking like the Panasonic TC-L32x1 is the best around. But it’s really hard to find.

I’m still trying to find out if the TC-L32x2 is a good alternative. But unfortunately there haven’t been any stopwatch tests done on it, yet.

Yea this tv is damn near impossible to get. So Im wondering out of the tvs that are still available on the market what is the best one to get now.

According to this AVSforum user test, Input lag wars!, post your input lag results of your LCD display here for refrence - Page 65 - AVS Forum

The Samsung LN32C530 32" suffers from an estimated 1-3* (15-47 ms) frames of lag. It’s doesn’t appear to be a horrible HDTV, but the price on Amazon is not great.

edit: If you’re interested in a 40", the Sharp LC-40D68UT appears to be solid. One Amazon reviewer says it’s lag friendly and the AVSforum user test appears to be back up the statement.

If you can find a Panasonic TC-L32S1, get it. It’s just a good as the X1 series.

You have to be careful when interpreting the results of that particular test. Because the reference monitor was not a CRT monitor (which is the proper way to run the test), the input lag is actually the lag measured between the two screens plus the lag of the original reference screen when compared to a CRT monitor.

Now, different people on the AVS Forums have different opinions on just how much lag is introduced by a laptop LCD screen, so just be careful when interpreting these results, there might be more lag than you think and are accustomed to.

I just got a new tv!!! Someone please tell me how much its lagging!!!..
nah… that’d be lame…
but here’s a new thread with some useful info…hopefully there will be more posts with good info! = D

The Samsung LE32C530 looks like it could be a new gem!!! The Samsung LN32C530 should be the US version and have the same specs and performance… but haven’t verified it yet and still researching.
Here’s a review of the LE32c530 and says the lag is only 14ms!!!
