The New Akuma Match-up Thread *Recent Update*

That works. You can also do the Ryu OS with hard tatsu.

Hey. Why does the first page still feature naught but the same old, scrubby ass, pre-evo tactics as the thread that should be deleted and dead? For what purpose did you “take” ownership of the matchup discussion for? If I recall it was to keep up with the current discussions and update the thread accordingly as new tactics developed. Instead you basically have the old thread up here, with a bunch of half-assed discussions on everything taking place here and there.

Coulda shoulda just stopped updating the old one, pretty much would have the same effect. I suppose I should have expected it of the Akuma section of the boards but goddamn.

Sorry to just come in bitching. Don’t bother responding, as I’m never in here.

EDIT: at least you’re honest with your updates - er - update.

Akuma sf4 match ups thread…bigger…badder…coming early april(hopefully)

i got kicked out of college and havent been doing much been busy with a lot of work lately im sorry i havent updated the thread i stated that a few pages back. ill throw in what data i have collected so far hopefully its useful.

j.lk

Also try intentionally whiffing hammer fist from demon flip and see what he does.

Updated first post. Any help with looking over the new info and pointing out if something is wrong or something let me know.

I need help in knowing how to deal with opponents normals. Especially characters that have really good pokes like Bison/Chun/Blanka etc.
Basically when a Bison would be rushing me with the constant c.lk, scissor kick, i don’t know what to do. Is there anything that would work against him and other normals when I’m blocking? I would automatically try to do a c.mk > hado but i would always get beaten out. Blankas normals are retarded as well, most of the time his sweep and slide would beat most of my normals clean unless im doing something wrong.

back, down, down back + PPP

You can’t really outpoke chun or bison

sorry…you really got to be specific instead of just telling people to teleport. coz if teleport is the only solution apart from blocking then the game become readable. and smart bison will make sure they corner rape you where teleport isn’t really a choice.

what i really would like to know is how to deal with him on wake up. he’s got 3 choice. ex stomp avoid,ex psycho, teleport. with ex psycho being the most troublesome ones.

does any of the timed divekick beats ex psycho driver?
cross over hurricane is almost in my banlist as people in my area can now reversal the other way…though not consistent
afaik, safe jump into hurricane/uppercut is best but i haven’t seen people doing it consistently and safe jump itself sometime is a risk.

and with scissor kick…afaik 0 frame on block
if you try to stick out any moves. you might get countered by lk into scissors, or heavy kick due to distance(im not clear on this one)

@qc2:can you be more specific about how the chun plays? different chun players require different strategy.
is she hasanshu happy? is she backdash happy? does she turtle? does she grab heaps? does she sbk heaps on knockdown?

all the akuma 5-5 match up are considered 6-4 to me if you do not clearly know what tools beat her option.

references on japanese video’s doesn’t really give me a clear picture of how to deal with bison apart from zoning the hell out of him.

my top threats atm is.

  1. blanka
  2. rufus/honda/
  3. dictator
  4. sagat/chun-li/ryu in no order
  5. viper

unless you’re cornered teleport is the best option against lk scissors spam…it’s safe on block so what can you do other than blocking, teleporting or jumping? If you’re cornered just wait for the best moment to get out, don’t be afraid to take some chip damage and j.tatsu out as soon as you get an opening. You might also try a lp srk if you got meter to cancel it and see the bison player getting predicatble

cr.MP is very good against scissors Bison spammers

i will teleport out sparingly but the game will get into sort of a vicious circle if i have to teleport only to get locked into the knee game again…

maybe let me rephrase my reply…

what are the do and don’t against bison.

i do not know what i can do with bison and the bison i am playing is knowing all the possible scenario in beating me.

@scrub goku satsu: i am not sure c.mp actually wins or not against spammers.

lk 0 frame on block, with space. if you stick out c.mp and opponent does a c.lk counter into another scissors…

not sure about the frame exactly. i think akuma c.mp is 4frame, and bison c.lk is 3/4fr. thus losing. not to mention there is distance comes into calculation.

Carlos get in here and drop the Bison knowledge in here. I’m too lazy and reading people’s responses hurts my head.

BISON (from Bokkin):

Aside from the facts above, here’s my 2 cents:
Basically play very patient. Bison has a rough time getting an ‘in’ and even though you’re being rushed the fuck down, or wall banged in the corner, just stay calm. Normals aren’t hurting, and you’re still relatively safe. As Bokkin stated, instant air tatsu out of the corner once you have some breathing room (be it from scissors pushback, or pokes).

You must learn to sweep roundhouse on reaction, as that will be a turnover in terms of momentum. Take note of which charges he has going for him at all times, and know the spacing for landing those counterhit c.mp’s. Perfect your defense, get used to being patient, and once you get on his ass, feel free to stay on his ass.

That’s the basic mindset for the matchup, all the finer details you can find in either thread or just pm B0kkin for the robot-statistics and situationals. Yes, I just did that to you Carlos. Take it.

Word.
:smokin:

^if you could add what I PM’d you and missed here

Bison -

-play footsies your sweep beats his sHK at the right spacing (at ncr ed ma showed this by beating a bison friend of mine very handily who I go back and forth with)

-if he sMKs you have lots-o-options
he probably has no back and defintly no down charge so a demon flip/jump/jump forward air fb or any combination is a good bet.
nothing you have can beat this so really don’t try just block or attack^

-safe jump HP->tatsu opselect is great against all his wake up options except his ultra/super (not gonna explain this if you don’t know ask someone else)

-if ex crusher isn’t point blank puncih with demon on block

-look for reverse and punish with ex demon flip grab for a good punish plus great wake up positioning

-learn how to punish a blocked ultra (i have and have seen many losses because people don’t know how to do this) wait until he’ “getting out of the purple car” if you will

-this match is won by turtling so don’t get impatient

-if you’re in a corner wait…air tatsu goes above ex stomp or anything else he can throw out in reaction to…look for you’re oppounities

-KKK tele is great if he likes to slide your teles pusish them with whatever (not BnB he’s crouching)

-look for dash up thorw…his is fast…so be ready to tech…alot.

-don’t try to dP his cross up MK after a back throw…you can’t…

-punish reverse and skull crusher with cMK (ducks and hits) into whatever.

I’ll add later as I remember

I play this match alot clearly… I live in bison country

Duggish posted some up…I have some more hear…if there are repeats…congrats you’re observant

Hey Dugg…Knowledge is Power!!! I just said that too

Great info Bokkin. I have a real tough time with this match-up. You happen to have any videos that demonstrates some of tips you were talking about?

I have learnt to deal with everyone, everyone but Blanka and Seth! I can’t quite pin down Blanka and Seth absolutely slaughtered me. I couldn’t jump in, DF or anything to get anywhere near him. It was a horror show! How do I deal with a defensive Seth? And how do I deal with a rushing Blanka? Please, put me out of my misery.

The aristocrat

-Blanka sucks…no vortex allowed when he has meter…when he does have meter demon flip palm…block (wait for the ex upball) and if youhave demon…do it…

-get in the habit of dP’ing ex ball on reaction

Seth-

cHP wins this match walk him down…if he nuetral jumps…cHP beats his arms all day…if he jumps at you…cHP beats that

save a stock once he has ultra…jump at him bait ultra…ex tatsu…worth it everytime.

after a series of head stomps…backdash because he’ll try to

-do another string
-spd
-uppercut

once you’ve escaped proceed to walk him down again.

i need advice on a taking on chun li , mainly crossing her up i find it fuckin impossible , when she is crouched mashing lk/lp her hit box is so small ive tried using a different crossups ie; lk [instead of mk or tatsu] but even then im missing it…how should i approah her when shes knocked down? [assuming she has no meter to keep it simple]

Considering you really only have an empty super meter for small portions of the game, you probably shouldn’t base your strategy against Chun “if she doesn’t have meter”… While she doesn’t though, then the Vortex is your friend. Once she has meter, I’ve had a lot of success with dive kicks on wakeup, but you have to aim them dead center to snuff out her EX SBK. Crossing her up on wakeup is risky when she has meter, so I wouldn’t recomend it. If she likes to mash crouching normals at you, just block and watch what she does. Does she like to hazanshu after a few pokes? Remember this and punish her the next time with a well timed dp. If you have ultra and you’re feeling saucy, try blocking her hazanshu if she’s close enough, then demon her.

The matchup for chun basically says that you have to either fight her at full screen, or right next to her. This is one of the few matchps where I like to jump in there and keep the pressure going. Until she has ultra, then I stay away.
