The NEOGEO Battle Coliseum Mega-thread

Well he has the spikes…but the main problem for BIG are Asura’s arrows. The A and C arrows have vastly different speed (startup and onward), are thrown fairly high, thus they have to be jumped differently, and the animations for them are really similar.

Combined with that, BIG has to use meter to roll through the arrows to advance, or he can jump. His jump arch is really low, making it hard to time maneuvering through the arrows and spikes. Mostly the same reason Washizuka gives him trouble, and Chonrei to an extent. His crouching sprite is so large that he can’t duck a lot of projectiles (like Robert’s high sonic boom).

Against anyone who can duck his fireballs, Chonrei is straight ** fucked.**

Unfortunately for him, most of the characters in the game CAN.
I’m tempted to fire up Training Mode right now and make an exact list of the (few) characters that can’t.

I rock the Tung/Lee team as well. Lee is TOUGH to use, though. Your execution does need to be spot-on, as DG mentioned. On that note, is linking Lee’s f,b,f+p a speed thing, or do you need to buffer the forward ahead of time? I get it to combo around 60% of the time, and he NEEDS those combos and mixups to do good damage.

Holy shit! That’s a nice Yuki! he just came in there and KILLED Kaede. Makes me wonder, if his Yuki is so good, why did his Ai get murdered like that?

Ai is extremely impractical. In order to master her, it seems like you have to master every other character just so you can know every single fuckup a character can possible make.

Or you have to master the infinite without a doubt with Ai…

That blows. Doesn’t really matter to me anyway. Not a fan of her design. I wish Yuki was a better though. He’s too cool of a character to stay at the bottom.

Theres hope for NGBC2…esp the more that are getting on this.

I think what happened was SNKp saw how many broken characters have one thing in common- AIRDASH. So for this reason they decided to tone Yuki down 2 the extreme…

And this is what we have. I am sure in NGBC2 he will get quite a much needed boost.

Yuki is an SNK Sentai Ranger.

Thus why he is awesome.

I hope that NGBC2 comes out. This game is taking up all my time. Hell, I even put KOF XI on hold for playing this.

And Yuki is the Original Sentai Ranger. THAT is why he is awesome. I like his Lightning AA and how he charges. Pretty good VA too.

I was messing around with Yuki again and OMG I figured out a boat load of stuff.

you can cancel his standing c(first hit only,not the follow up f.c. it will do his dash punch if you do so), standing d, cr.c, and his slide cancel into the IAD (instant air dash) geese mentioned in his primer. when you do this though, think of it is kara-iad’ing in a sense because the aforementioned moves SHOULDN’T come out, you should see an instant IAD
note: this was the main that made me shit myself

cr.a and c.b both link into his D-Assault.

his 2-hit c>f.c chain links into his a dash punch. you can cancel the a-dash punch (on hit/wiff/block) into his level 3 neogeo beam for 50%damage (if hit obviously) plus it knocks down so you can get some charges in. but the good thing is, if you don’t have the meter for the level 3 NGB (lol)you can just do his a-dash punch and it knocks them far away enough that even with quick recover you’d be able to get a charge in.

Also, both of Yuki’s dash punches (qfb+a/c just to clarify) can be super canceled into any of his supers if it doesn’t hit (block is okay) so you can do his Neogeo Beam for extra chip damage or do an a-dash punch to try and fake a throw or something and make your opponent flinch and get a neogeo beam in for some quick damage.

Also, Yuki’s far C (probably inside of sweep distance for it to hit) links into his d-assault and his neogeo ranbu super.
And Yuki’s cr.c pops them off for a potential (but small) mix up games.

QUICK EDITION(s): the Yuki corner combo I mentioned a few posts ago (close standing d into dp+c > slide or d-assault) can ALSO be ended with Chodokyu (sp?) Neo Geo Ranbu for fat damage.

Yuki’s chain combo (f.a > df.c > back b > f.d) if done mid near screen or if yuki is in the corner, even if they safe fall, you have enough time to get a charge in.

I’m trying to figure out more stuff as we speak. So I’ll post when I find new stuff.

Heh i don’t post strats too much i just posted the wrong abbvs. Nice guide btw i was messing with some stuff earlier and the only thing i don’t get how to do is the sweep, jump cancel qcfx2 C combo or sweep, fwd D qcfx2 C. And i don’t know what the TK abbreviation means. 0_0

TK = Tiger Knee. It’s basically a :dp: ending with a :uf:

so to explain fully it’s be :dp::uf:+attack button needed.

I seriously don’t see a NGBC2 coming…unless SNKp is willing to change a lot of things…including but not limited to graphics…especially for next gen series…also…if they make a 2nd one…I want Ash or Oswald…since so far they are my favorite KOF characters…(you can tell I just started playing SNK stuff)

thanks STU! qouick question tho. when you reset them in the air with his close D into DP-C in the corner ( i use C to reset them after the DP.C hits) can they block the Ranbu super or are they still considered in the Air so it makes it unblockable? Kind of like Kulas LDM in XI.
