That sounds a bit easier than what I’ve been doing, I can do his crossup in XI but in NGBC I have a difficult time doing it, I’ll have to test this out.
Guess I missed it, meh.
Not like those characters are rocket science, you just have to have the right mentality to play them.

Embryo: I’d have to test it, but there’s a chance the opponent could step through the Power Wave at the end of the string and punish your recovery.
I was a little worried about the powerwave at the end but if the rest of the preasure string is viable then I could always use a alternate ender. So yeah just test it out and tell me what u think?
gorehound- you just gotta do it fast bro, after his command launch after the f,b,f A or C you gotta super jump, so basically what you CAN do is tiger knee it, for example while executing his f,b,f A or C you can do d,df,f,up- forward, and it will super jump for you, go ahead and try it tell me what you think if that doesnt work bro you just gotta do it real fast, the reason why i say super jump FORWARD is that is how he becomes effective, cuz all you can do if you SJ straight up is a super for a minimal potential for damage and number of hits…
Sweet thanks for the tip
Oh I didn’t meant up straight up, but I tried jumping high forward after the hit. It looks deadly since I see players either dash in back of them after landing for a hit, or the 360degree throw :bgrin:
with robert against kim i’d play mostly defensively:
throw out ryugekisens when you’re not close; punish jumpins with flashkick
if you air to air with him, tack on a flashkick because it ultimate juggles
after a knockdown, poke and use b+A to annoy; watch out for throw when close
obviously nail him with ranbu if you have the meter
but yeah be more defensive
New avatar to show my NGBC pride. Fuck yes.
Nice av!
Quick Yuki addition:
You can link st.d into his level 1/2 charged SRK (A/C doesn’t matter) and then right when he recovers you can link into his slide or a d-assault.
It has to be in the corner though.
Quick thing for Ai as well:
You can link her standing c twice into her f.c
standing c (2 hits) > blue cancel dash thingy > standing c (2 hits) > forward or back C (1 hit if done forward, SOMETIMES 2 hits if you go backwards and the character has a large hit box ala cyber woo, king lion, asura)
the combo timing is kinda strict though.
Unlike the Yuki combo though, it doesn’t have to be in the corner (unless you try and get the extra hit on a big character with the backwards c)
I know these tid-bits don’t really matter since they both suck. But it’s worth mentioning I guess.
I’ll archive it… call Blue Cancel thingy BRC (Blue Rush Cancel)…funny is KOFXI has it too…
Sorry, one more quick Yuki edition: although I don’t think it links into anything (I’ll look into this today) his cr.b is a pretty decent poke.
Also, Since his a/c moves are his best specials, you should try charge those 2 as much as possible.
Think of the charges as Q taunts in a sense.
So charging would be good after his throw, an air lightning, Landing a Super, While they’re randomly spacing/building meter, D-ASSAULT (since you and your opponent are on total opposites side of the screen after words you can probably get in 1-2 charges)
DG: I’m sure it’s probably been mentioned but my computer/internet is too slow for me to search through 144 pages of stuff so could i get some quick tips on Mai and Hotaru?
For Hotaru the main combo i use is jp D, cr C, cr A, df B, df D, break and followup with either throw or df B, jp D, or df B, qcf x2 A. I will also occasionally use qcb C or D, break+ throw. I use jumping qcb C or D for forward movement alot of times and qcf x2 C or D super to get some quick damage or whiff punish since it has so little startup time.
For Mai i use st A or cr B, df C, hcf D and st A or cr B, fwd D, qcb B, qcfx2 B. I use down D for forward movement and down C as an overhead occasionally.
Thats all i know i haven’t messed around with the game that much yet. I was hoping to meet you at Gkon back in Sep and get some tips from you/play you in a few random SNK games but you didn’t come :(.
Side note has anyone else noticed the random slowdown on some of the stages (most notably B1) on the US port?
Edit: Thanks for the links.
Jakob-Slowdown has been mentioned on the Dragons stage.
You need to know about the Triad Trap also…let me link you to all the Hotaur stuff I have…

My copy came in today, fuck yeah!
Too bad my stick isn’t here yet. D:
Had a session today tho, been rocking Kyo/Kaede and Kyo/Iori. Yo were right about Rock, Lukus, his lack of a solid anti-air kills him.
I posted almost everything I know about Mai in Geese’s second link above. And I think you’ve got your buttons mixed up there. A is the weak punch, B is the weak kick, C is heavy punch, etc.
Kayin: A lot more than that kills Rock. JeRon does okay with him though. Speaking of which, NEC VIDS NWOOOO
I’m sure if people would scan the last 20 or so pages (or the thread), they would learn much more useful information about actually playing the game than they would through asking about combos and complaining about reading.
Learn your combos or whatever, but the matchup and knowledge of system nuances can get you farther. Some keep asking for combos but have no idea what there character can forward step and punish. People get away with a lot in matches simply because they other person doesn’t guard cancel.
Keep the hype.
Personally as far as combos go, I find it most effective to learn combos off attacks you know you’re gonna land and find ways to make sure you land those hits. After all, the point of learning combos is to up your damage output.
I’ve hardly contributed, but thanks.
And yeah, you need to learn matchs up, what to and what not to punish, situational shit…etc… like you said
If you and the rest of triad, geese, and random posters likemyself keep adding to current/new players knowledge, this game could get pretty insane.
Because of this thread and all the match videos on youtube, stage 6…etc…this game has basically consumed my soul and had replaced 3S as my main game for the time being.
I think I’ll use Tung and Lee. I call it team Old Masters or something
sometimes switch out Lee with Chonrei as well. I dont see any vids of him though. His fireball and uppercut seem pretty good, so whats the deal?
From the vids I see of Tung though he deosnt seem to do any combos though.
I can’t believe Yuki is considered the worst character in the game, I have yet to find any high level Yuki play so I guess that makes sense. Oh as far as the Asura vs Big match is concerned, why does Akura have a slight advantage?
