The MvC3 Hulk thread

Can Hulk and Deadpool help each other? Deadpool can fill the screen with falling down Air Happy Trigger M while Hulk throws some rocks (Gamma Wave assist) to any incoming opponent? Are Deadpool’ s Katana-Rama and Quick Work good enough to create unblockable set ups with Hulk Jump S? Do these two characters DHC well each other? Gamma Tsunami–>Happy Happy Trigger or Cuttin’ Time–> Gamma Crush??

Deadpool and Hulk are pretty good together, but only because they are extreme polar opposites. Hulk has slow normals, low mobility, high damage, and in your face attacks while Deadpool has fast normals, good mobility, low damage, and specializes in zoning. They cover each other’s weaknesses pretty well.

The problem is that unless you already have an OTG assist, you’re going to be pretty much forced to use Katana-Rama assist. That said, it’s a good assist to have for Hulk as it is quick and it’s actually one of the more damaging OTG assists options for Hulk because you can use it to reset Hulk’s ground bounce mid-combo. Katana-Rama is an OTG, but I don’t believe it hits low so it can’t be used for unblockable setups.

Quickwork isn’t bad for unblockable setups, but I haven’t really played around too much with it. Deadpool does too little damage for me to play him.

Deadpool can DHC effectively from any of Hulk’s Hypers, but Hulk can really only effectively DHC using Gamma Crush following Cuttin’ Time or a corner Happy Happy Trigger.

Hey quick question for reference purposes, when you guys use AA gamma charge, do you use the LH Version or use MH or HH?

I use HH because it’s easier on a pad for me. I think LH is better though because it keeps you lower to the ground. Not sure about that though…

They have good synergy, if you look around there is some info on both of them together. Consensus on wesker is that he is the best OTG assist in the game.

Yes, Hulk is considerably more effective if you have an OTG assist. His mid-screen combos do a lot more damage and almost always carry people to the corner and your air throw becomes a LOT more dangerous since you’ll be able to combo after it.

It’s hard to argue against using Wesker as your OTG assist. It’s fast and can be used to set-up Hulk unblockables. Not only that, but he is a powerful anchor due to his XF3 bonuses. The 2 problems I have with him when used with Hulk is his low damage on Phantom Dance and his OTG assist seems to miss sometimes during Hulk combos. I would recommend you try him out if you haven’t already.

Sentinel and Hulk are pretty damaging together. I’d say they are good together, but only if you’re naturally talented at blocking and spacing. They are share the same weakness of being huge and slow.

I run these two together on my main team, and they are great together. [S]Deadpool’s Katana-Rama does also hit low, but is harder to setup unblockables than Quick Work due to the ground bounce.[/S] It’s a GREAT otg assist for Hulk though. I feel like Deadpool’s lower damage is a non-issue when you have Hulk behind him for DHC. DHC’s have amazing synergy imo, here are some of the basic DHC combos between the two:

You can also substitute Gamma Quake xx HHT in place of Wave xx Crush xx HHT for similar damage (since you’re not missing a hit from Crush) and it’s easier to time (braindead).

I use Taskmaster at the 3 so the horizontal Legion Arrows are great for this THC. Similarly you can do this with Dante’s Million Dollars which actually lasts longer than HHT and gives you a little more time to waltz over and spit in their face.[/details]

Before I make the rest of this post, I just want to say that I’m not posting this just to say “You’re wrong”. I’ve looked into the Hulk/Deadpool combination and I wanted to help DudleyvsVanessa with his new team. Redbeard, you might find some of this useful as well.

Redbeard probably already knows this, but if you’re playing Deadpool, you should try to make use of the fact that he can reset your groundbounce while OTGing. You just have to have a meaty attack ready for when Katana-Rama connects. I’ve demonstrated it in the following video:

Unless you’re sure that Gamma Quake xx HHT will kill, you should really use Gamma Crush. You don’t actually have to give up a hit in order to DHC into HHT, meaning you’ll do about 64k extra damage. Practice makes perfect on the timing - I will admit, it’s harder than Quake xx HHT. Evidence of getting all 8 hits before DHCing is in the video I posted above.

[FONT=Helvetica]I’m not sure if your opponents are getting hit because they think that this is an unblockable[/FONT], but Katana-Rama is not a low attack. I put an extra segment at the end of my linked video showing that it can be blocked high at all ranges.

This is definitely true. On most of the cast, either will get me a character kill most of the time, and if I doubt it will then I’ll definitely go for Gamma Crush or a THC.

As for getting all 8 hits out, I can only get HHT to hit consistently (online) if I do it before the last hit. I’ll have to put more time into it personally, I haven’t been able to play much at all lately. Another very devastating option I use is putting Task behind Hulk because you can do Vertical Legion Arrows, recover, then tiger knee air vertical Legion Arrows.

I stand corrected. I honestly didn’t believe you on this until I watched the video. I rarely get an opportunity to attempt an unblockable against most people since once they get scared of Hulk they usually try to stay in the air against me. I also would prefer to have the OTG available for the combo than use it to open them up, especially since I can get a full combo off an air throw if it’s available.

Placed 1st in a tournament over the weekend using the Hulk/Dorm/Wesker team. Vids will be up soon. I think they’ll accurately show how my Hulk plays.

Even better, most footage is against a Mag/Wesker/Akuma team, so it was a handful of bad matchups. Patience and slowly creeping forward was the key a few times.

If Hulk died, a Wesker comeback usually followed. :rofl:

So what’s up fellow avengers, I was wondering how does hulk stack up to facing Wesker one on one compared to thor facing Wesker one on one. For those who have no idea about thor, thor is pretty ass against Wesker with to without assists. Thanks.

The matchup is awful. Hulk is a terrible anchor, just like Thor. Wesker can teleport and gunshot all day.

Figured as much, and how does hulk handle him with assists? Also, how does hulk handle small characters by the way, just curious.
