Oh you know what I forgot. I guess when he asked if he had an anti air grab I was thinking of a command grab or a jumping command grab but I forgot he can use it as an anti air, but like you said, how useful it would be remains to be seen.
It is quicker than his MvC2 counter part so if the hit box is large I think it could work.
Thor isn’t really worried about an AA to be honest, his Mighty Smash can AA, his hammer spin can AA, and his Thornado lols at any opponents trying to jump in. I’d recommend Shulk-Torpedo/Thor-Mighty Smash/Hulk-Gamma Wave, but Shulk’s flash kick is a great AA if you have to have a AAA, Thor’s Mighty Smash can work as an AAA, and Hulk’s gamma wave is looking great as an assist. I’d probably run Hulk as char 3, Thor has the weakest assist game but could really benefit from Shulk’s low-hitting assist Torpedo with his tridash. I’d probably run Thor on point, Shulk as char 2, and Hulk as char 3, unless you’re predisposed to a particular point, though you’re designated point will probably die anyways, so at least 2 of your characters will see action most of the time. Thor on point has the advantage of forcing them to come to him with his Mighty Speech as well, though Shulk on point has so much more mobility and could approach a ton better. Hulk on point has the advantage of being f***ing Hulk, IDK what more you want. Torpedo/Smash/Wave would be what I recommend though for assists, regardless of arrangement.
Thx for feedback–I’m not convinced about Thor’s Mighty Smash (power dunk, lol) being good AA yet. I don’t remember seeing anyone use it as AA during the various Thor vids. I could be wrong though. Hammerspin? Maybe. I plan on running She-Hulk on point, but I’ll occasionally put Thor on point as well. I think She-Hulk–>Thor air tags will be better also, since Thor can end his air combos with tornado super.
If I do put Thor on point then I’ll probably do Thor/Hulk/She-Hulk. I’m fairly certain that Thor–>Hulk will have some decent DHCs (i.e. air tornado–>gamma crush/quake; mighty shockwave–>gamma tsunami).
I don’t think I’ll ever put Hulk on point hahaha. I’m afraid he’ll get zoned to hell, plus I’m not sure whether the other characters will have good DHCs off of him. With that being said, both torpedo and mighty smash assists should be a huge benefit to him when he gets close. Mighty Smash should especially be good since Hulk can use to make his laggy normals safe on block.
Torpedo assist for She Hulk is set in stone. Low assists are too good to ignore! As you mentioned, it should work good with Thor tri-jump, and I have a theory it that might be good for Hulk’s forward dash. I’m hoping that Hulk can hop over some characters when they go to crouch block the assist. Plus the torpedo assist can apparently OTG, so that means potential relaunches (or resets) after Hulk & Thor end their air magic series. Both of them already do a shit ton of damage with the basic air series, so a re-launch into another series will be the icing on dat cake.
There’s the video of Hulk on point using thors assist, and it was just absolute rape. Opponent didn’t know what the hell was going on, it knocked him out when he tried to jump in, and trapped him on the wall with Hulks gamma charges.
I’m with Guy on this one, that just looks like a regular command throw whiff animation. I don’t think Hulk is like She-Hulk in that she has command throws with different properties depending on your button press (A is ground, B is anti-air, etc). As far as we know, Hulk’s command throw will catch blocking and jumping opponents. That’s obviously much better.
Ground-to-air command throws are just terrible for anti-airs and jump prevention, like Tager’s Atomic Collider or Abel’s Falling Sky. Like any good grappler, Hulk would need long range lows to safely stop opponents from jumping away. That’s what Zangief is so dangerous with his crouching shorts.
Edit: Could we have a link to that video, Cornbread? It sounds great.
hmmm I don’t ever remember Hulk angling his hand like that in any other Marvel game. Are you guys sure? I always remember his grabbing hand being parallel to the ground. The big reason why I think he has an anti air variation, is because Capcom has never allowed the same throw to grab someone on the ground and out of the air. It may have worked with some hit-throws, but Gamma Thorw is confirmed to be an unblockable now. I seriously don’t remember any unblockable throw behaving in that way. Yea it would be great if I’m wrong, but I doubt it. That’s why I was confused when we originally saw him use it to grab people out of the air. That stuff simply doesn’t happen in any Capcom game I remember. Throws either are specifically designed to grab ground targets, or air targets.
I’m teaming Iron Man with Hulk, I think that will be a filthy pairing. I still can’t decide on a third, I’ll probably just whore a top tier once that kind of thing is decided.
A and B grab off of the ground, and C grabs out of the air. It’s not a great AA, but people will get the occasional nasty surprise while trying to jump away.
I’m really glad this was cleared up, I was stupid for thinking his command throw would grab grounded and jumping opponents, I just really, really wanted it to be true haha.
I’m thinking Chris Redfield because I think the team will need a pure zoning character to balance it out. Or maybe one of the yet unrevealed characters.
I been thinking about this stuff again. Can’t wait to drop a HUGE ASS FUCKING METEORITE on Storm’s head when she tries to chip me out with Ice Storm. :lovin:
I gotta say the guys at the UK events were repping Hulk ALOT. I been watching various youtube vids of the recent events and damn near every other vid had a Hulk on a team. He was getting used for anti air gamma charge assist alot. Check the posts on this page (and beyond) in the neoempire forum for the different youtube channels:
Speaking of Gamma Crush, I was playing the 30 character build this weekend. I was Hulk vs. a Dante. Dante called Deadpool assist and I responded with Gamma Crush. It killed the assist on the way up. On the way down Dante blocked it. At the first moment that Dante could move he did his guns super. As an experiment I did QCF+ 2 attacks on reaction. It DHC’d into my Deadpool’s gun super, and mine won. It seems really late for a DHC. Hulk had crushed the rock and was jumping back. I guess it works, but even so I would think Dante’s guns would win.
