Hell Yeah. Sharp Eyes is my motherfuckin jam bro. That piano was too fucking good. Somebody go to Capcom’s twitter and tell them use that one instead. I got banned from twitter otherwise I’d do it myself. I actually like her 3S theme, but her 2nd Impact theme is boss as fuck.
My favorite themes in the game are: Nash, Karin and Ken’s. Rashid’s is cool too. I don’t like Laura’s but I can’t stop listening to it. It’s weird man. Capcom should bring back the London stage from CVS2 just so I can hear “this is true love making”
I never liked Dan, Sakura or Guy’s themes in the past either for the exact same reason.
That said, there ARE good versions of some of those songs that don’t sound like that. SF4 Sakura theme is amazing. So is Guy’s theme in his SF4 trailer, even though the one in the game itself sucks.
The problem is they refuse to do anything different with Alex’s theme. Probably because the song is CALLED “Jazzy NYC” they just aren’t willing to make a non-Jazzy version of it.
That Karins remix started off nice but it started going all over the place. Karin and Rashid have something in common and that is they are good characters because they have cool moves and awesome theme songs in their debut games.
I love Karin but she doesn’t or wasn’t given what made her special she’s not the same. But I guess we all had characters like that.
Pretty much the summary of Alpha 3’s soundtrack in general. VERY few themes stand out among the others, one of which is the Shin Bison theme, simply because of how tense it is. The issue with such themes, though, is Capcom seemed to tried going with the rock-ish feel to the OST, which explains the similar instruments, but I suppose their hardware couldn’t quite achieve the sound, heck even ArcSys couldn’t quite get the actual hard/heavy rock sound for Guilty Gear X back in 2000, so they had to rerecord the whole OST separately
I do feel though that if Capcom took the entire Alpha 3 soundtrack today and just rerecorded it with ACTUAL instruments it might’ve sounded pretty damn good, with slight improvements to the songs flow in separate examples, of course
The stuff in that trailer is just the shittiest kind of dubstep garbage. There’s nothing redeeming or praiseworthy about it.
Guy’s theme isn’t really Guy’s theme though. It’s ripped straight from Final Fight.
Do you guys not like hearing actual instruments played proficiently? I like the solos in Alex’s theme more than the re-imagined main riff, but I seem to be alone in liking this kind of music on SRK. People prefer dumbed down, digitally produced horseshit.
It depends. Sometimes digital productions are better, sometimes live performances are better. The music needs to supplement the aesthetic.
Sometimes one type of music is the only logical option for the aesthetic. For example if you have some sort of cyberpunk robot character you’re probably not going to give her saxophones and tubas as her theme music unless you’re going for some sort of dissonance.
Certain musical effects can only be achieved with one or the other as well.
Yes, and it’s because the melodies are usually too short, not to mention that feeling that the instruments are all the same. I keep saying this all the time but people here keep denying the obvious.
I feel like the guitar on the main riff was tripping over itself terribly. The rest of the theme though, with the build up in the beginning and the keyboard solo AFTER the main riff, sounds very good.
i just feel like it went off tempo during -THE- Jazzy NYC part.
I have absolutely No Problems with the intro for Guile’s theme taking as long as it does. That Solo Guitar piece alone is enough to be it’s own theme and it would’ve been Amazing, the fact that it blends right into the Epic USA Theme we all know and love makes it all the better.
It sounds absolutely ridiculous and I’ll be looking forward to hearing the full piece when it’s completely released.
I don’t know if that is actually an intro. It sounds like just a plus of new notes for his theme. It’s a mix between the old theme with a new one, I dig it.
