It isn’t subjective. I explained why a long time ago. A piece by Mozart isn’t “subjectively” better than a dog mashing keys on a piano, it’s OBJECTIVELY better. You cannot make the case that a dog mashing keys on a piano is in any way better than a Mozart piece, or that they are of equal value. Music is not this nebulous concept where nothing can ever be defined objectively.
It actually is only subjectively better because the only case I need to make is that I like the sound of the dog mashing on the piano more than the Mozart piece. No further explanation needed on my part. You can say that its objectively more complex, more intricately constructed, recorded with superior equipment, less or more formulaic in comparison to other works, created by a human being and not a dog, and be completely correct but I’ll still like what I like. Metrics of quality dont account for taste.
No, it isn’t “only” subjectively better, you don’t know what you’re talking about. You’ve confused quality with taste. This misconception that quality is subjective partially comes from people not understanding the difference between quality and taste. Taste is subjective, but it has little bearing on actual quality.
Quality is a non-subjective aspect of music composition. It consists of careful consideration to harmony, rhythm, form, melody and timbre. You can like a piece that pays no attention to any of these things and is just a cacophonic mess that has no timing, no rhythm, and that anyone with hands is able to do simply by mashing random keys on a piano, but it doesn’t give it quality. If you like it that’s just your taste. Quality is something that can only be achieved by actual knowledge of composition.
Yes, people think only because they ‘like’ a song the song has quality…this is a very, very wrong conception. Taste is subjective, you can like anything you want, doesn’t mean it has QUALITY. Quality involves technique, knowledge, talent, context, and a bunch of other things. That’s why people can HATE Classical Music, generally it has a lot of quality… but since taste is subjective…
Rashid’s theme is so fitting. Starts off reminiscent of his ethnicity and then immediately switches into DnB. For a middle-eastern dude that loves technology and new things, this sound is perfect for his theme. Most of the character themes are fitting (except for Bison). How does that not relate the things you listed equating to quality?
Just say you don’t like the music. There’s no facts that can state whether these themes are good or not. Just opinions.
