Barring composition, I feel this is the best sounding fighting game since EX3. The mix is actually really dynamic and isn’t that compressed or brick-walled.
This was my biggest problem with SFIV. The sound in that game was so compressed that everything was flat and ear-splittingly loud. Even if a track was compositionally good, it still crowded the same sonic space as all the other sounds in the game.
Just listen to the KO sound at the end of a match in SFV, it’s noticeably louder and punchier than most other sounds in the game. An effect like this doesn’t really happen in SFIV because of how compressed the sound is.
The dynamics in SFV make the soundtrack more pleasant, I feel. You can hear all the intricacies of the music all while fight sounds are happening and it all sounds great. This is the most hifi sounding video game I’ve heard in a LONG ass time.
That said, I love progressive rock and dig those vibes I’m getting from some of the soundtrack (main theme, character select, Ken’s theme) I also really like the majority of the character themes outside of bison and Cammy, and I even like most of the stage music… Maybe my standards are just super low because of how bad game music is in general these days.
I’m sure someone from Ocremix can do better. Still have no idea of what they’re doing with the music of this game. The synth excess of these sounds are making my ears bleed.
If, at least, it were a good kind of synth, but just no, it’s almost like some kind of crap chiptune. Think how better would be Rashid’s theme without the lazy synth.
Rashid and Mika’s themes both sound awful. I don’t know how Capcom could let these songs make it into the game.
Karin’s theme is one of the only songs that sounds really good. SF4 had awful music outside of some character thenes, and it’s looking SF5’s music will be even worse outside of some exceptions.
Karin’s theme and Kanzuki Estate BGM are the only themes that really had me saying “this is DOPE” so far. I recall Necalli’s sounding dope too, and I think the stage with the sheep in the backgound.
The sad part is that the 3S theme is easily one of the best I’ve heard in fighting games. I legitimately can’t think of one song that sucked. It’s jazzy, hip hop, dnb fusion worked perfectly. It was smooth, frenetic, fun and engaging all at once.
I hate the direction the SF4 series, and now SF5, has taken.
Okay, to the poster who said Cammy’s theme starts off terrible but gets great later on, they’re right. Add Cammy’s theme to the small list of ones I find to be dope. Very well done remix.
I was very optimistic, when we only had the first 3 stage themes and the menu theme. Im now thoroughly dissapointed. This shittty synth, I cannot get over it. It make everything sound dinky and stupid. If you’re going to to full electronic on SFX, then at least take a look at tekken. The india stage is sounding pretty good, and the brazil stage seems to be OK too. Nothing is blowing my mind just yet.
R.Mika’s theme is purely a remix of her A3 theme. The A3 melody starts right after the song’s intro (15s).
Such a let down after Karin’s theme, but well there’s more good than bad in these character themes so far. THIS fan made one is way better as a pure remix.
It’s not a pure remix. Nothing about the preview sounds like her A3 theme except for the melody. Need to hear the whole track to see if it persists throughout.
Can’t please everyone anyways. Some people did cry they want A3 remixes.
