It doesn’t and shouldn’t be in the same style/genres, but they should absolutely take not of the goddamn thought and effort put into the music. I’m still butthurt about the soundtrack so far. It’s fucking sad that the original Nash trailer using free youtube music has been a harbinger of Capcom’s inability to make the music memorable, exciting, or cohesive.
That’s just the theme for his trailer and not what they’ll actually use in the game but yeah it’s still way better than any of the SF5 tracks
dunno about you guys but I find Ken’s theme pretty Rad
I like it as well. Pretty hard to mess up Ken’s theme (SFIV still found a way) or almost any older theme for that matter. I’m happy with most of the music in SFV so far.
Can’t wait to hear what the Brazil stage theme sounds like.
Yeah, I know, it was good when it was first made in 1991 and it’s still good today. Too bad SF5 doesn’t get any credit for it because it’s literally an arrangement of a pre-existing song from an earlier game. The original compositions in this game suck dick and the best they can do is arrange old music. This game’s OST is in bad shape.
just get the game on PC and you can swap all the music out for indestructible
Still GDLK

Yo after all these trailers I really wish they would use the trailer music in the game.
Vega Trailer, Birdie Trailer, Karin Trailer, Nash Trailer, all have such awesome tracks. Why just use it for the trailer only?
KI has the best fighting game soundtrack in the last 15 years. They were able to capture the characters personality inside the music. It consumes you into each characters world.
Folks here get really defensive when it comes to being critical of Street Fighter, but Capcom should be doing more with SFV’s music. The London stage in SFV doesn’t sound like I’m in London, the China stage doesn’t sound like I’m in China. Karins stage sounds good; but it still sounds like Soul Calibur, and not like a rich estate in Japan or even Street Fighter.
SF used to take you somewhere with every stage, and totally surround you with culture and personality. SFV just isn’t doing that.
Because Capcom didn’t compose these tracks. They’re production tracks, acquired from a generic music library, that are meant to be used in trailers and advertisements. They used a service that makes music for this purpose. Anyone can use these songs for a fee, not just Capcom. So eventually you might see another trailer or commercial for something completely different that uses the same music.
I agree though, the generic tracks are substantially better than the in-game music, which just proves the whole point of this thread.
You sure this is the case and that those trailer themes aren’t simply character themes that aren’t turned on during beta?

So would those of us that like most the songs so far have reason to make a thread to discuss the songs we like or do we have to do it here?

They’re not character themes. For example:

Yes I am sure. These songs are from old music libraries and some can be found on youtube.
One thing I learned about internet discussions is be very careful about discussing musical tastes, because such shit will turn into shit for discussions about as fast as religion or politics.
As for preferences, I’m relatively meh towards the SF5 tracks so far (only standouts for me is the character select tune and the China stage).
SF4 is about 50/50 overall.
A lot of Tekken’s stuff fits and is catchy.
People forget Virtua Fighter (for all of 6 people that play the series) has some damn fine music, for me VF5: R being the most badass of the bunch behind the remixed versions of VF1.
Killer Instinct basically kicks a lot of ass with their own take on all character themes ever.
The only really memorable MK track was MK3’s Subway stage (which got remixed in MK9). Some people obviously do remember some of the MK tracks, but mostly from the 2D eras, and even then, they just barely had any semblance of a theme behind him, behaving moreso just like regular background music instead of a real part of the action. Soon as MK4 rolled around, any memorable music the games kinda had was gone.
Only thing I can immediately recall of the recent MK games is MKX’s Destroyed City stage and the Jinsei Chamber (first round). The Jinsei chamber fight actually does sound like good fighting game music and suitable for a boss fight.
Anyone else heard the new stage theme properly yet?
It actually sounds really good.
28 seconds in…

This gives me hope that they’ll bust out some more cool sounding stage music for the remaining stages and whatever they’ll add as DLC
Hmmm I guess they really ARE making each track be it’s own thing. I think it’s a neat concept but i’m still waiting for something to get me pumped like the 3S soundtrack. So far I think the london stage fits the bill. I just want more upbeat tunes.
I really like the new stages theme
i really REALLY hope they dont fuck up Karins theme her theme was like the best one in A3
After hearing the stage themes a little more, I like the change with the rounds and that they are far more serious than the campy goofiness of SFIV. I could dig the tunes but IMO the loops are too damn short. Even the SFA3 themes and some of the 3S themes who were criticized for being short last far longer than the ones of SF5. IMO, they should get rid of the low health part which is supposed to build tension and reduce them to three parts for each round so they could last longer. Three minute and a half loops would improve vastly over many ones that feel like 45 seconds or less.
Wow, another solid stage theme.
Damn shame about Training Stage. No offense to anybody that enjoys that theme.
