Music is so important to fighting games IMO. It is one of the most vital things to bringing the player into the game. When good it makes them feel less like they are just staring at a screen pushing buttons and more like they are in the fight of the life. It transports them out of the real world and into the game’s world.
Great music comes in all forms and genres however for fighting games I feel the most important thing is that it has a strong pulse, momentum, and energy.
The idea is nice. But its stuck on the same, simple one tune which repeats and repeats and doesn’t eleborate. It’s actually 1 min long.
And it’s a pity Capcom’s musician(s) does that everytime. Just continue to the theme with some variations, write a little more. If you can’t do anything, at least add another insturment or go from a higher pitch when the theme repeats the second time. The players will already hear it over and over for years, just add a little more to the basic idea. Here is an example how people are doing that:
I just wish we could hear some different genres actually coming through with the music. it sounds like basically all of themes are hammering out the main melody with a guitar and the effects are very similar. like the main menu’s got that flamenco guitar but it’s literally just this 10 second bit of dressing built around this guitar-focused rock with some electronic elements and then some orchestral shit coming in during the refrains. so far all of the character themes are basically doing this as well. I will say it’s nice to hear some horns coming back into Ryu’s theme like from A2, Nash has a nice little Industrial bend to it, but there’s only so much of stuff like this.
get a little more bold, Capcom! don’t be afraid to mix everything so cleanly! it’s not like you haven’t done this before (A2(G), A3, 2E, 3S).
Its all just really lazy, generic shit, and it doesn’t sound like the sound team has stepped up their game at all since SFIV. So far it all just sounds mostly like the same old uninspired stuff.
I hope the rest of the stage themes aren’t as bland because I’m not willing to listen one more time the same old character themes that got exploited to death on SF4. At least, let me choose the track in the stage select screen because playing against online Ryus already gets old pretty fast.
Seriously, themes like Poison’s or Decapre’s show they can make good new music if they want. Who’s the one deciding that they must play safe by aiming the lowest?
I’m neutral about the training stage, I do like it but it’s mostly a background element, nothing i’d listen to on the go. It does sound better than the SFIV training stage though. I like a lot of what i’ve heard from the revealed stages so far, those are the ones I really freaking want to listen to, specially new zealand. That 30 second snippet of it we got sounded quite promising.
Yeah, one can’t even stand it for 1 min, let alone 5.
Pure garbage. They should have just paid a real musician and get a song made if they wanted a quality electronic music for training stage.
Will change it as soon as I have the game on my PC for sure.
Main menu was pretty cool. Training stage sounded terrible.
I’m gonna jump on the first chance I get to replace the training stage music with TUNA WITH BACON
I like jungle shit but some sf/tekken/labzero/suda51/megaman games sound good to me. Sf5 is a mixed bag, ryu and the character select theme is ok but that jazz one on eventhubs should have been ryu’s.
Even the small shit like soundtrack can separate a character from eachother.
cammy—Special forces whatever the hell that sounds like
Birdie—Uk garage or grime
necalli—my main needs african jungle chants everywhere with 808s and maracas lol
charlie—Remixed version of guile’s strange sunset theme in a minor key or the same key as skullgirls’s character select screen.
Only fraud-ass casual gamers habitually mute the game music. If it’s really bad, like in the case of SF4, you get the PC version and mod it to have music you want. Get on my level.
