Should have been animated.
Chun-Li is an action movie not a martial arts movie. “Weak pathetic body…” Wow, dude. You gotta love arm chair critics.
Yeah the “weak pathetic body” bit made me lol
Perhaps it’s the Vega/Bison before he acquired the body we now recognize as Vega/Bison?
Remember, he was in Rose once, then he was given the taller weaker body we see in SF2:WW
Perhaps this is the actual being that trained with (and eventually murdered) “Master”?
Anyway, it will be really difficult for the movie to own Raul Julia, “CHANGE THE CHANNEL!”, or samoan sumo wrestlers, no matter how good it is.
Looks like they tacted on the SF name to get sales.
So much for the writer saying “We’ll do it more of an origin story. And staying true to the source is what I want to do.”
Uh. Uh. Uh. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH STREET FIGHTER. It took the license to use the names.
I hope it’s a decent HK flick though. Those HK flicks are pretty good.
SHe looks like Alpha Chun Li. Ya’ll been playing 3rd Strike for too long.
jesus, you clowns made this thread AGAIN!!?!
there is already a thread for this crap movie, keep all your shit in the toilet please
edit: thats correct mr x, it could have been pamela anderson and some fools would still be like “yes sir, may i have another!!”
How do you know the story has nothing to do with SF? Is there a plot summary somewhere that I missed? Or did you get all that from this short trailer?
You got all that from a 1 minute trailer made of (very) short cuts from many different fight scenes? Wow.
People need to seriously get over the whole “so and so doesn’t look exactly like they do in game” attitude, because guess what? No one EVER looks like they do in the game. Christopher Lambert =/= Raiden. At all. Still, it worked out well.
Sure, it would have been best if they hired a Chinese actress to play a Chinese character…but, be honest people. Chun-Li in game has brown hair, and in some official artwork blue eyes (Pocket Fighter). So…yeah. Blame that nonsense on Capcom, not the movie.
yeah, it looks like a typical action movie, nothing wrong with that really
im hype, bison in a suit is pimp
everywhere you go there will be fan boys of street fighter that scream failure on everything. looks fine to me, but will it be good? we all won’t know until we see it for ourselves.
Movie looks good for what it is.
yeah. im sorry, it just doesnt look good, and it definitely doesnt look like what it could be.
no, we shouldnt. robin shou looked like lui kang. linden ashby looked like johnny cage. patrick stewart looked like prof x. hugh jackman pulled off wolverine very well. the list goes on. the complete honesty, is its hollywood, and although there are thousands of other trained actors and actresses that could better fill the roles of our favorite comic book, and video game characters, its more about getting good names in the movie, and somehow making it work, or trying to make it work, than getting some people that are not on the A list to do the parts, and do them well.
well, i wouldnt consider shorty playin chun an a list, but she is well known, and you know what i mean
its foolish to believe that those were the best casting options for that movie. lol. please
at least in those clips, i saw her getting some formal training at times, which is kinda cool that they didnt ignore the martial arts aspect of it. i think the wire work looked shitty in those few clips. if you want to see what a female martial artist can do, i suggest you check out michelle yeoh, if you dont already know her. those early to mid nineties kung fu movies had good fighting, whether it was women or men, and although it had its times with goofy wire work, i just still have yet to see that same type of cinema repeated in 21st century hollywood, with all the advances in technology and what not within the movie industry. they do work in hong kong for real.
below is the wing chun trailer. remade with that american bullshit, but still. this shit looks more interesting than this chun li duke, and it was made almost 15 years ago. maybe thats oranges and apples, but im sayin, i just dont see nothin to get hype about. im not gonna accept it as probably a decent flick, because of the other disasters before it. i dont do lesser of two evils. we’ll see once the full trailer drops, and we will see even more once it comes out in theaters, but i just dont have high hopes.

Word.
I dunno, they’re giving us something that actually seems to have some structure, but it sounds like people wanted another pointless SF character parade instead.

great job mods
Bison got his suit custom made by the Juggernaut
Well, shucks, if these are examples of “good look-a-likes”, then I’d say that comparatively Kruek isn’t really that bad of a choice after all. At least she’s half Chinese to partially satisfy storyline hounds. And, what exactly does Chun Li look like anyways? There’s so much official art work…in game art work…fan artwork…
Pick the right picture, and Kruek can fit the bill:
Kruek
Chun
You could very well be right. Wing Chun may have better fight scenes when all is said and done. Though, I have to wonder if the Chun Li movie has the same focus that Wing Chun has. Martial arts seem central, but not AS central as in Wing Chun, so maybe that’s the difference.
All I’m saying is that from what little we’ve seen, the Chun Li movie doesn’t look that bad. They seem to have learned from the mistakes of the first movie (silliness, too many frickin’ characters, reasonable faithfulness to the original story), and that’s a positive sign to me:
Plus, they’re trying to maintain a sense of realism, so that the story can appeal to people who aren’t SF fanatics like us. I applaud their efforts in that regard, at least.
it would’ve been so much better if they did a 3D CG movie of street fighter than this
I’ll be happy if Bison does a psycho crusher in a suit. Or Michael Clarke Duncan does the buffalo headbutt.
Also, that Vega Black Eyed Peas guy doing the izuna drop would be hilarious.
I was hoping for Marwan Bison myself, but this should make for a decent Netflix rental.
