Holy shit man that’s awful. I really haven’t the clue man. I’ve never heard of that happening before.
Can you do a detailling? If the scratches are shallow, I would think the clay bar and the subsequent polishing would be to get it done.
Winter has got me sitting on my bike and making “brahhh brahhh!!!” noises. Too cold to do any work on it, and am now doing physical therapy from my fractured tibia and acl tear from my first track day. Might trade in my car for a truck so I can haul my bike to do more track days/start racing next season. Anyway, love the TT, found this video of the Macau race last season:
Spring can’t come fast enough!
Dude that sucks about your injury. Hope you heal up well before spring. I haven’t been able to ride lately. I had a fork seal leak and I’ve been working like crazy so I have no time to ride anyways. Today it’s extra cold and windy but I might just take it out for a bit just to get on two wheels again.
Thanks, it seems like my leg is improving, so as long as I’m careful, I think I’ll be ready by spring. That sucks about your fork seals popping wheelies? Have you rode Mulholland yet?
Fuck dude sorry to hear about you going down. At least you are making a recovery though. Other than the going down part, how was the track day? It’s always been something I want to do but I feel like I am not a strong enough rider and I don’t want put my bike in danger.
Blacked my bike out the other day. It’s looking mad Batman-status now. Loving it.
That bike looks pretty sick… Actual paint? or Plasti DIp?
@BBQ my seals have been leaking after leaving it in my garage. I don’t think that 300 could pop a wheelie especially with me riding lol. Took it to a different dealer than my regular and they treated me like shit and accused me of taking apart my forks. They still fixed it for me under warranty though. I’ve only installed the head bearings myself and we didn’t even touch the damn things but they told me that someone had to have used clamps and tools underneath the actual boot. It’s been cold lately and I don’t want to take it down to my usual dealer just yet. That and people are swamping the freeway doing after xmas shopping. I don’t want to get run over by the idiot girl worrying about getting her nails done and texting her bf while changing lanes.
Nice! Did you plastidip or what? Looks stealth as fuck. Track day was an eye opener. I was told several times to ride my own ride and not get intimidated/discouraged from the other riders, but it did get to me in the beginning, and because of it, went off the track a hand full of times(but did not crash). I was sharing the same tarmac with weekend warriors, seasonal racers, and a few AMA pros, but eventually got comfortable enough to get in a few more sessions after injuring my knee. It was nice to get real time critiques and tips from these guys, had a regional racer followed behind me and gave me suggestions on my body positioning on some of the turns. Overall, it was a great experience, will do more of them next season including some riding school.
I’ve only been riding for a couple years now, and I think you are more than ready to get into it. From what I’ve read, you got enough experience to not only get into track days but even racing if you want. As far as the possibilities of crashing your bike goes, you can either be extra cautious and get frame sliders, engine case savers, etc, or buy a track bike which could be thousands less than a street bike, just that it won’t be street legal. But shit does happen, though the chances of it happening can be minimized if you take your time and not do anything foolish. As long as you know there isn’t a trophy at the end of the day and you work on your riding, I think you’ll be fine.
@deathzerozx That sucks about them accusing you, but cool you can still get your bike fixed under warranty. I’d give them the guilt trip and try to get a free service appointment out of them or something. I wouldn’t be caught dead riding my bike in holiday traffic either, shit would be a giant buzzkill.
A brahh!! bump for this thread. Went to IMS last weekend. First time attending a motorcycle show. I guess for motorcycle shows around where I live, it gets a smaller turn out of venders and attendance each year, even though statistically more people are getting into riding. For what it was, it was fun. Sat on nearly every sportbike, was surprised that the hyperbikes(Hayabusa, zzr1400) were as lite as the 1000’s. But holy crap are the cruiser/hog bikes f’en heavy! I couldn’t image going into a turn on one of those, maybe like riding on top of a tank? Speaking of which, so many Sons of Anarchy wannabes with their boyscout vests err I mean cuts mean mugging at the show.
Anyway, got a deal off a track day through a vender and am signed up for it in the middle of May. Ordering some Shinko tie down hooks that deletes the passenger pegs and might upgrade the rubbers to Pirelli Diablo Rosso’s if I have extra funds, if not, then the Dunlops(forgot the model, but it’s semi street with more track inspired). Hoping we get an early spring!
I went to the IMS show too. It was pretty awesome. They had the electric bike setup, (brammo? I think) on the wheelie machine but the hydrolic part of it was busted. But you could still ride it and switch through the gears and get a feel of a electric bike. I wait in line for a bit. I am next. Dude in front of me gets up on it. Redlines it in 6th? (I dunno how many gears it had) and fucken drops it down all the way into first and fucks it up. Mad this horrible clank noise. My friends heard it from across the show. He gets off all laughing and smiling like a douche. I was hoping they would make him pay for it but the lady running it looked like she had no clue of what was going on.
Actually had some decent weather and got to go riding last weekend and had a small vlogger meetup. My mic setup has been busted but I just got it fixed so I can make some vlogs again.
Progress on my 2nd gear clutch ups. It isn’t much but it’s a starting point. I’ve only ever tried them in first on my 600’s. I’m not clutching my Z up in first and I am too much of pussy to power wheelie. It feels rad though clutching it up at 50mph and riding it out for a little bit. I will get there eventually. Going riding tomorrow and hopefully maybe film some progress videos.
Funny you mentioned the electric bike! They had it set up by the stunt show area but it wasn’t running(maybe that dude ruined it for the midwest attendance). Crazy looking bike with those cell battery things. Cool that you are trying clutch ups, I read that going +2 on the rear will make it a wheelie machine, which I might do to my bike as the local track has short radius turns to punch it out of the apexes. Yeah dude, first gear clutch ups are sketchy on 1000’s, I superman one time with my feet dangling off the pegs, called it a day after that LOL. Envious on being able to ride now, where I’m at, we just got another blanket of the white crap.
I’ve debated going +2 up, but I already find myself looking for 7th gear on the highway. Figured I just need to quit being a bitch and level up. The bike will do it easily, just gotta get over that mental block. Here is a video of one of my homies almost looping his shit.
Also, if you haven’t seen this video, you should check it out.
Damn that sucks on the triumph! Glad to see he seems alright from that. Yeah, same shit with me but was able to save it by quickly getting my foot back on the peg and touched the back brake. I don’t know about 2nd gear on a stock gear bike though, was trying them majority of last season, and it seemed like I had to be in the sweet spot of going 40mph, because anything less, the bike would just budge. And I tried a variety of methods(from snapping the clutch lever, to holding in the clutch lever, and variations of throttle) and couldn’t consistently pop them up and ride them out. When I did the track day, I could power wheelie out of the last turn by wringing the neck in second. I can pop them up everytime in first, but it can get sketchy when you least expect it. It would be nice to get 2nd gear clutch ups with out swapping sprockets, but shit man, I had enough time to practice them and still can’t do them how I want them when ever I want to.
I’ve seen Ernie’s vids and notice he is riding with custom ear buds a lot. I wonder how much they cost and how you go about getting your ears molded to fit. Getting a little annoyed with the apple ear buds I have now that digs into my ears on long rides.
Anybody watched this yet?
Looks pretty interesting. These dudes are pretty beast. I feel like their heart is in the right place in their passion for riding but they are going about it in the completely wrong way haha. Been trying to find a download for it but no such luck. May end up actually paying for it…
it’s up on KAT and TPB.
Found a old ass KLR250 Dual Sport on craiglist. Only has 500 miles and is street legal with a clean title. May go pick it up on Tuesday. Pretty stoked on it as my buddy just bought a WR250F and I’ve never ridden a dirt bike before and psyched to actually go ride dirt.
Not sure what type of engine it has but at the local forums, people were telling this one guy that had a deal on a 2 stroke dirtbike to not even bother using it for the streets as it’s a PITA to mix oil with gas every time you have to fill up. If it’s a 4 stroke, that’s great! Lots of dudes around me are into the motards and ones that had a sportbike never looked back. I hear wheelies are way easier. Good luck.
First nice day out(mid 50s) this year where I’m at. Saw a guy on an older Yamaha R6 out today, made it a little tempting to take mine out, but everywhere there are puddles of nasty water/salt and with my 13’ RR still look brand new from 10ft away, I adjusted the chain and will be starting it up but will wait tell most of the crap is off the roads. Still need to install a bazazz fuel control, take off the passenger foot rests and install shinko tie down hooks inplace of them, and still consider doing the -1, +2 sprockets conversion with a speedo healer.
Looks like this weekend will be the first ride this season for me. Suppose to get up to upper 50s and maybe break into the 60s.
The winter gave the roads a beating, so even though most of the salt is off the roads, the pot holes are making some of the roads look like swiss cheese. Going to be taking it real easy. Also got some Tech Grip tank grips and Sato hooks to get rid of the passenger foot rests, but it’s going to be a PITA as the bolts are hidden underneath the sub frame, way to go Honda!
@EmericaRR when you placed your gopro mount on your helmet, was the mount completely flushed with the surface of the helmet? I bought some adhesive mounts that have the curve backing, but it’s really hard to find a place that doesn’t have a corner sticking out. Also, does it bother you on long rides or eventually starts weighing down on the side it’s mounted on?
Got my first 2 bikes:
2015 R3 - full yoshi, pcv, race air filter, emission block. Need to get new pics with yoshi. Will be converting this to a race bike for next year.
2011 R6 Skull Edition - bone stock.
Got some framesliders coming for the R3 and a R6 throttle tube for quicker wot. Will be putting a qs on R3 when my mechanic has done some research on it.
Not sure what I am going to do with R6 yet. My skill level is to low to have fun with it.
