LOL, small world. That’s cool that you were a part of that group meeting with downshift. His wheelie tutorial videos helped me get my feet wet on popping them up. I still suck at them, but once in a while I’ll get a good one in.
Yeah he was pretty cool dude as well. Really mellow. Doesn’t look anything like you think he would and his name I think he said his name was Cal haha. His R1 with the toce exhaust sounds fucken incredible in person. Dude was riding stand ups all day. I was able to get some decent 1st gear clutch ups on some of the 600s I had but I can’t do it on my Z. Too much torque to clutch it up in first and I can’t find the sweet spot in second. I can do some first gear power ups but they are violent and I feel like I have no control. Lots of fun though
I’m in the same boat as well. 1st gear comes up all the time but sometimes it goes up too fast. 2nd gear I’ve noticed I gotta do them around 40mph and up or I’m not in the power band. I’d like to get a few stand ups before I decide to take off the passenger pegs. I hear a changing the sprockets will help aid in doing them, so that might be considered down the road.
I want that first BGM
Does anyone have any experience with riding in cold weather? I know there are some guys who will ride in all weather except rain or snow. I was thinking of getting a bike around my bday (January). So I just wonder about that, because I was going to give my wife the new whip since I will be getting a bike for main transport. So I am wondering if anyone rides year around.
The temperature can sometimes feel like it drops 5 degrees or more when you are on a bike. Where I’m at, the beginning and towards the end of the riding season can get ridiculous in temperatures. For those times that are cold, I have a non-perforated leather jacket as well as a fleece neck thing and full gauntlet gloves to cover my wrist and neck as it sucks having cold wind hit bare skin. As far as the bike is concerned, it take a little longer for the engine and tires to warm up in cold weather. Having warm tires are essential for it to grip the road since you only have 2 of them. For commuting it’s not that big of a deal as hard rides, though you still have to keep it in mind unless your way to work is one straight shot.
Freezing your ass off on a bike not only hinders your experience but is also not safe as it can effect your focus and ability. Dress for the occasion and in layers.
I want a bike but too many dumb drivers. I love my life too much.
I know some guys that felt like that, some never got on a bike, others decide to keep it track-only oriented. I value my life very much, but sometimes you just have to go for it. It makes life a little more exciting when you step out of your comfort zone.
I’ve ridden through 2 winters so far everyday. It’s not really that bad just be prepared. Granted I still am in Texas but still. Layers work. Wear something under your jeans like sweat pants or whatever. Boots (wind goes right through tennis shoes). Leather jacket (mesh/textile works too but not as good) put a hoodie under that thing. Invest in some good leather gloves and buy glove liners. Your hands is what hurts the most and you will be fucken crying if you don’t have a good set. I rode this year in 22 degree weather about a hour to work. Had some shitty mesh gloves. Worst experience ever. Also, get a ninja mask like thing. I think they are called balaclava or something. Helps so much on your nose and neck. But yeah, not bad. It’s fucken cold out. Bundle up and you will be fine.
As for the dumb drivers thing, it’s really not that bad where I live. Not a lot of intense traffic. When you ride a motorcycle you have to have the mindset that basically everyone’s time is more important than your life. Once you go into that mode you’ll learn not to put yourself in bad situations and be more alert.
Installed some new bars this week and went and rode with some buddies to test them out. Much better but I still can’t corner to save my life.

Got my bazazz fuel control unit yesturday, but noticed it’s for the wrong bike(CB1000R and not the CBR1000RR). Oh well, it will get me time to order some block off plates for the Pair valve emission crap, and some tie down hook hangers for when I remove the passenger pegs assembly. Days are getting shorter and the weather is starting to get poopy where I’m at. Maybe another month’s worth before the bike gets put away for the winter
This isn’t new, but I really like the first bit:
Honestly, its the thrill that makes it so exciting. It’s risky but many passions in life will never be reached without some sort of risk. I’ve only been riding for almost 6 months now and I love it. Riding is something amazing to be experienced and it’s a never ending quest of improvement and facing your fears. You get this feeling of empowerment when you do have those experiences. Just do it man… you won’t regret it.
How often do you guys have to adjust your chain? It seems like I have to do this every other week. Then again I am popping up wheelies every so often…
Not very often. It’s my daily. I usually only check when I get a new tire or when it feels strange. I’ve put 10K miles on my bike so far and haven’t had to mess with it yet. Getting a new one soon though due to her being left out in the rain : ( Can’t wait to get a garage again. Apartment living is ass for a bike owner.
Put up a video walk around of my bike also
To the experienced bikers here I want to know is your motorcycle your daily driver? Do you also own a car? have you gotten your bike stolen? What do you think of scooters and moped riders? I’m planning to get a Honda Grom as my first bike but people tell me I’ll outgrow it quickly. What cc bike did you guys start off with?
They are right you will outgrow the grom very quickly. But if you got some time watch this video I made explaining buying a first bike
Sorry to plug my own videos but hope it helps
@EmericaRR that bike sounds nice! Sounds really throaty, a lot more than my 1000RR.
@apxkqmriz my motorcycle could be a daily when the season starts, but because where I live, it also snows, so I own a car as well. I keep my toys in a garage and never park my bike anywhere sketchy. So I haven’t had my bike jacked(knock on wood). As far as what bike you should start off on, that’s up to you and what you think you can handle. I started off on a 250r, but that lasted less than a 100 miles before I took a hit and traded up to a 600 super sport. You may or may not be the same if you go that route. Take EmericaRR’s advice in the video, avoid buying your first bike new(unless you have the funds to do it with out financing). I highly suggest doing a safety course if you have never ridden a motorcycle. I wave at scooter people on road but they look at me like I’m retarded.
Some craziness from this past weekend. People getting crazy and not riding to there ability.
Overall though a successful motovlogger meetup. Had a blast.
Damn that sucks! I know a guy that collided with another rider on a group ride because he used his rear brake that lost all of his grip. I try to avoid using my rear brake as much as possible. I think I got another day or so before I have to get my bike prepped for winter storage, have plans to throw more money at it over the winter. Might go +2 on the rear sprocket for easy wheelie action.
@EmericaRR Dude, I fucked up the finish of the fairings by mistakenly using this shit as wax:
This caused a ton of scratches all over the fairings and nose piece of the bike.
What do you recommend I do to repair the finish? It’s really bad when light is reflected.
