Well that was the agreement with Mrs. Hyper Kid. Basically a 250 will give me what I need out of a bike. I know the classes here are around 50 bucks which is great, but I do have to get a temp to be able to take the class. So I will do that Monday.
A bunch of people are getting hyped on the Honda Grom, might want to take a look at one Dj, they seem like a riot:
I think anything lower than 250cc and you’ll grow out of it wanting more. 250cc is a great starting point. Grom is really small lol
The Repsol livery is sexy! Always a fan of them on the various of models.
Here’s some Initial D style video:
The grom looks a bit too small. I like naked bike style though, but if I went that route then I would need something bigger. I know 250cc would be good for me to start on.
Don’t let the size fool you, it can handle out on the streets, though not so much on the highways. But yeah, if you plan on doing high way speeds, I’d say maybe even go up to the Kawasaki 300, Honda 500R, but seems like you have already decided, take some pics once you get it(maybe get an aftermarket exhaust fitted too!)
More Takumi on 2 wheels video:
300 is perfect for highway as long as you’re not going up a mountain like I am lol. It struggles but I can pin the bike at 80 mph going up the steepest grade.
These guys make it look so easy… I really gotta work on my leaning skills… I low sided from not being able to lean in further and taking the hairpin too hot. I know I’m not leaning as far as I think I’m leaning. Just gotta drill into my head that =/
If it makes you feel any better, last week I laid my bike down as I was leaving my house. Noob like error of stalling the bike and letting it take a nap. Based on what you said, it might not be the lean angle as much as the rate of how quickly you flick your bike. The quicker you set yourself up for the turn, the better you will be. Also, there is only so much lean angle the tires can handle via contact patch, the more you lean, the less contact surface you have, the more likely you could wash out.
If you haven’t already, check out “Twist of the Wrist II” on youtube. It’s a brief look on what the book version has to offer as far as cornering is concerned, it helped me a ton.
Yeah I’ve read vol 1 and watched vol 2. I know I’m not leaning enough. I’m making the bike do too much work. I’m hesitant to go out on the twisties myself because I wanna push myself to improve. When I low sided I was by myself and it sucked lol
Yeah I hear ya. Sucks to be by yourself from a crash, worse is when people drive by and just stare with out even a thought about helping out. Though, trade off is less pressure than from a group ride, but it would be nice to have a buddy when shit hits the fan. When I was having a local racer guru solder some wires on my bike today, he made a great point on getting into turns. He says when ever you are about to get into a turn, kind of bump the bar(the bar that is applied to counter steering/inside bar) and it will off set the gyro motion to your favor. Also trail braking(lightly applying the front brake and holding it, up until you get into the beginning portion of the turn) will shift the weight of the bike forward giving you better traction to hold the line due to the difference of radius, between the front(less of a radius) and rear tires(more of a radius).
More bike porn:
Haven’t seen this thread in awhle. I ended up getting a 2010 z1000 last November. Loving the bike so far I’ve put about 12k miles on her so far in the past 10-11 months.

Also bought a drift and started motovlogging. It’s a lot of fun.
z1000 is sick! @EmericaRR what’s your YT channel? I sometimes watch RidingwithTom, and some other vloggers.
Got around to using the GoPro not too long ago, nothing spectacular, just testing it out. Here’s a video of my bike and using the chest mount:
Is the link to my channel. My buddy also vlogs on the same channel as well. He has a 09 zx6r. Also, I cuss a lot so be prepared for that. We have some dumb skits we do on there as well. It’s a lot of fun.
Your CBR is gorgeous btw. My buddy had a 2008 CBR1000 and sold it before putting 100 miles on it. I was pissed. I love the way that bike feels and looks. Hopefully I get to pick one up in the next few years. I can’t afford the insurance thats why I went with the Z1000. That and it looks like something batman would ride. I want a proper liter someday though.
Damn dude, you have had quite a few bikes! The racer guru that soldered my wires has an SV track bike and swears by it, saying the exhaust note is boner inducing LOL. Thanks for the compliment! I just ordered a Bazazz fuel control unit as I guess the 12s and 13s have some rough idle issue due to the emission controls conflicting with the slip on. Other than that, the bike is amazing. When I was shopping around, I took account for the lack of electronic aids that the other bikes have, but came to a conclusion that if I wanted modes on my bike, I’d get multiple various displacement bikes
Are you in Texas? I used to be stationed in Ft. Hood. Austin was a blast.
Nah I’m from Dallas Texas. I’d die if i was on muholland. I’m way way too slow. I can’t corner left for some reason. Like a huge mental block. I freeze up target fixate, don’t move my ass, etc. Basically all the wrong things and I can’t get past it for some reason. My bike has been my only mode of transportation for the past 3 years so I don’t ride them too hard. Hence why I have had so many. I’d put 5k-10k miles on one, sell for more than I bought it for, and repeat the process. Was a lot of fun. I’m stuck on my Z though. At least for now.
And yeah I had a 2003 SV1000 with a full M4 exhaust system that I had shortened. Single pipe. Sounded incredible. That’s one bike I really wish I had put more miles on and regret selling it as early as I did. I bought it off a dude who needed the money bad because his wife got tit implants and the doctor did a terrible job and he needed the money to fix them. Can’t make this shit up. So i got it dirt cheap and put about 2-3k on it before I sold. Came up some money though so can’t complain.
Crazy. Well that’s one thing that’s cool about motorcycles, you can get some great memories and stories from the 2 wheels. Noticed at the last moment that you were from Texas. You ever rode with Jake the garden snake? Guy seems to love doing wheelies on his motard. I might use his promo thing and get an hd drift camera.
Yeah actually I live in the same apartment complex as him haha. I went to go drink with my good friend from high school and jake was there. We got wasted and set off some fireworks in a field for the 4th a year or two ago. He’s my friends, wife’s, sisters, husband. If that makes any sense. Cool ass dude and really humble but him and the other supermoto guys (fireguy and Armenian) kinda keep to themselves. My z can’t go offroad too well haha. Check my channel though I got footy of us riding with jake to the stunt show and then another video of huge motor vlog meet up where we got to ride with jake and downshift83 and some other big name motor vloggers. Was a good time.
