World Masterpiece Battle. I still can’t stop laughing at this game, after these years. Someone tell me where I can get this.

This thread makes me wonder if i can find a copy of Slap Happy Rhythm Busters on a decent price these days…

That was one of the most surreal and disturbing experiences of my life.

Dungeons and Dragons: Iron and Blood – Warriors of Ravenloft. Came out only on the PS1. Anyone? Anyone at all.

Yeah, I remember seeing previews for Iron and Blood.

One of the worst fighters I remember is Namco’s early Street Fighter clone, Knuckle Heads.

Shit, SF1 I would say is still somewhat obscure. I’d be willing to bet a large number of people here probably never played it.

Fight Fever! One of the crappiest games ever.

Oh and no way Kabuki Klash and Ninja Combat are obscure. I’ve seen the at a pretty good number of arcades. They were just crappy and no one played them.

There was a Konami Mortal Kombat ripoff, but I can’t remember the name of it.

No it wasn’t. It got decent play and was at a pretty large number of arcades. I travelled a lot back in those days. I’ve seen it arcades on the westcoast, the midwest, and down in Florida. And it sure as hell was in Georgia. Wasn’t at all hard to find. SF1 was in any arcade that Final Fight was at. Hell, SFI was it’s share of 7-11 and Quicktrips. So the game was hardly obscure. The best place to find obscure fighters was at a random bowling alley, pool hall, or at convienient stores. They always stocked games there that were cheap.

Don’t know if its been said, and its not really obscure but Martial Masters. I love this game and I wish people played.

edit: Hayama Akito beat me to it

Martial Masters is definitely not obscure. As a matter of fact, it was an early legitimate competitor for SFII. But it is a VERY early competitor, before people realized how much depth SF2 had. On the surface Martial Master could compete with SFII, back when FG players were much less educated.

Today, not so much. Having played the game in my childhood, and playing it a few years ago on mame, it’s amazing how poorly the game has aged.

I beleive KOF Neowave is an example of an obscure game. For one, it didn’t get large arcade distrubution. Very few cabinets can be found. It also never really received a home release. I think it was released in Japan on PS2, but I’m not sure. People may remember KOF Neowave because it was at SBO. But if we were living in times before the internet, KOF Neowave would meet all of the requirements of an obscure game.

Huh, Martial Masters came out in 2001, at least the one I’m referring to. Its a Chinese game.

KOF Neowave was released on xbox but I don’t think anyone noticed.

There was this fighting game for the PS1 but I forgot what it was called. It was like about gangs or somethin’, each gang had three or four members and the gameplay was you choose a gang then play 4 on 4 or whatever, just like King of Fighters. The game was in 3D and I think there were ring outs. The story if I can remember correctly, was all these gangs are fighting each other but then there’s this big shot that becomes their common enemy and serves as the boss of the game.

All I remember about the game was that the main gang that i would play as comprised of a guy with headphones and a baseball cap, a tae kwon do guy, and a bald guy that was a brawler, I think. Anyone got a clue?

EDIT: someone mentioned “Vs.” earlier in this thread. I think that was the game.

Opps I’m thinking about Martial Champion. Sorry.

Yeah, I don’t think anyone would know about that game if it weren’t for mame. And I heard it wasn’t even 100% emulated on mame. But the game is very fun.

You should try it using the nebula emulator , the sound gets kinda glitchy but the game runs great. I’ve been told the emu’d version has two infinites that are not possible on arcade though , but if I ever can get my hands on a pcb for this game, I will do it in a heartbeat.

I’m quoting this again. Everybody needs to watch this video.

I froze, transfixed and horrified by the entire thing.

Seems like one of the 3409237059237 available fighting games for ASCII Fighting Maker… with some bizarre Heidi/Marco/Versailles no Bara style, heh.

MUGEN got a lot of stuff, but they still cant compete with the power of Fighting Maker games… i mean, there is even a fighting game based on Les Miserables named Arm Joe.

Buy a supergun and sticks, subscribe to any of the HK online PCB dealers (sales@welink.cc or legendcompany@gmail.com or whatever Excellent’s is), buy a PGM system, and buy the cheap and common Martial Masters cart. Well, that’s what I did at least. It’s not at all complicated although everything added together makes it expensive.

Honestly, I think that only beta fighters can be obscure enough that few would know about them. I’ve played all the official, released games mentioned here so far and have owned most of them for years now. Of course, that doesn’t really mean anything because I can’t play most of them to a skillful degree. The people who get good at these fighters should be applauded.

Well applaud me, because I’m a beast at Fight Fever and Ragnarok. I’m also a top player in Kabuki Klash
