How’s the character creation & which weapons work best for solo play?
i finally beat that fucker and now in the endgame i think.
i dont think i spent so much time in one game. i think i have reached over 20 hours worth of play time. goodness
shizz i think i messed up farming for him. i guess i dont get a second chance then

You don’t need any special gear for Vaal. He has Nulberries the hallways leading right up to his room and the Handler EXPLICITLY tells you to use Nulberries to clear effluvium blight. No special gearing necessary, just ears
Solo play is a non issue as far as what’s “best” for it. Just play what you find fun. Actually, that applies to multiplayer too.
Unless you plan to speedrun, which is a very different story
Vaal is the only monster that caused me to actually blow a quest in solo.
For me it was LR Kirin and the story Nergigante quest. Wasn’t prepared for his dive attack to consistently one shot me lol
Thanks for the advice, bruvs. Got to HR6 and completed the HZD event in about a day. Now I can chill the hell down and sink in to this; I’m thinking of picking up the bow as a second to my LS. Damn Ratha-bastards keep swoopin’ in and wrecking shop.
Pink Rath and Nerg made me come close to blowing it, but I managed to bring it back.
I was just not ready for Vaal’s BS however. Second time I played more cautiously and won.
Once you figure out Vaal’s gimmick he becomes a joke. Free loot!
You can stack Miasma resist. Like he’s very beatable with nutrients, nullberries etc. But so many people join that fight with no knowledge or prep and wipe.
I hear a lot of complaints about Diablos but he’s a very, very easy fight with a Lance. The only thing scary about him is his charges and tunnel and Lance can stand it’s ground against that.
It’s pretty much the same thing with Rabboban/Uragaan/Barroth. All of those Monsters whose main tactic is to charge at you are easy to deal with a Lance.
Honestly, the times I died to Diablos usually comes down to reloading at the wrong time.
For me it’s sheathing on low life at the wrong time instead of just standing my ground and waiting to do it.
I have guard up and level 5 guard. I could kill anything with a level one weapon with enough patience I just sometimes get a bit aggressive.
Don’t think the resist is even needed. Bring Cleanser Booster and some nulberries and you should be good to go. A lot of his attacks are pretty easy to dodge too.

Could have used this advice the first couple of times I went down there (and when I had to fight Clifford).
Yeah there are so many counters it’s like someone complaining about dragon punch instead of baiting it out or just not jumping constantly.
People do they, and they wipe continually or bitch about the fight.
I’m not finding diablos that bad really…I find pink rathian and radobaan to be way, way worse really.
I don’t think I’ve reached the point in which any monster is giving me overhwhelming trouble yet. I’ve had some trouble with odogaron, as sometimes it’s impossible to get away and heal/sharpen when he’s enraged.
Still can’t decide what 3rd weapon to pick. I’ve settled nicely with CB and IG but I really want to also use a ranged weapon. The thing is I’m finding the bow, lbg and hbg to be equally fun. The hbg sounds like too much micromanagement but it feels so satisfying…,
when you have a palico who heals you 3 times in a row only to have diablos hit you for 3/4 of your health…you will know my pain.
the main problem i had with him is when i get hit by the charge. as soon as i get up he has hit me with charge already again. no way to escape or dodge
i just manned mode it and didnt let up
I went through the same shit last night. Responded to an s.o.s we ended up fighting him and that fucker singled me out every single time. 3 guys were slicing him up while he ignored them and focused on myself (who was using antidote/healing potion and was a fucking mile away from combat). He left the ass whoppin’ he was taking from the other hunters just to wave dash over to me and cart me.
