Had people actually thank me for introducing them to this game on my stream…then proceed to curse me out because the Pink Rathian was breaking them off something proper.
Hmmmmm…it’s between the insect glaive or the bow as my secondary weapon. Charge blade has already taken it’s spot as my main weapon but I’m so indecisive about my 2nd one. Part of me also wants to go back to my good 'ol longsword…that I’ve been using since ever. It’s easy to return to what you’re comfortable with.
I have three weapons that I rotate out regularly: the long sword, the insect glaive, and the light bowgun. My character is rooted in a need to be as mobile and accurate as possible, so I’m not wildly swinging around like I feel like I’d be doing if I were using sword/shield or paired blades. I hit and run a lot.
It used to have that option without the fade slash finisher. The problem is you’re locked in place too long in a lot of fights, you’re less mobile with double slash bnbs. You already can’t roll out of it and it doesn’t block.
The DPS is bonkers and the sword can still damage parts that a lot of other weapons deflect off of. It’s still a good weapon I just personally don’t like the changes. I can also no longer see the point in it next to the Charge Blade or Longsword.
I feel like SA beats has them both beat when it comes to dps, minds eye, and evasion. I don’t think LS has anything better (though plays very similarly) and CB gets guard points and knockouts.
Also I’m ballsy and always go double slash unless it’s odogaron/diablos. Overhead slash combo still mostly keeps you in place and let’s you evade faster.
Charge Blade has been borderline broken since they introduced it and it still is. Landing those transform slams on the Monsters head is still ridiculous.
Both are better defensively than the SA. The SA has good damage but it feels unweildy now. Before it was surgical.
I gotta try the SA now just to see what all this fuss is about. I used the SA for the entirety of my mh3u playtime and it was, like you say, surgical. It always felt like a heavy LS to me.
Also fuck the bow; finally took the IG for a spin and this shit’s instant love. Fun as all hell! Though I miiight still also use the bow as my 3rd weapon but I don’t know if I really have the time to craft for 3 weapons.
> encounters Odogaron for the first time
> fight is back-and-forth for the most part
> manages to break it’s body parts and severs it’s tail (w/ Lance)
> rewarded with Odogaron Plate
