Doing fine solo but progress is pathetic, (still rank 5) due to not having much free time…despite being on a 3-day weekend.
So I’m not the only one who can’t connect online.
I’m taking my time with progression. I been farming all the monsters I’ve faced at a steadily pace. Tobi is the first one I faced in this game that forced me to prepare. The agile bastard can fuck you up without thunder resistant armor.
I farmed tobi for his armor then insect glaive and switch axe. Fun fight, I’ve been whoopin’ nargacuga’s ass for so long he felt like a weaker cousin.

I changed it up to an entirely new character and started over…(didn’t want to wait until whenever it is that option to change character opens up)…I may go back to my oddball silver-faced character later… one small annoying with that— I noticed that one sin some game devs occasionally do— unskippable scenes. So yeah, if you start over you have to go through all of those scenes again; no way to skip to the parts where you start controlling your character. Anyway, the charge-blade weapon type will likely be my main deal here… it speaks to me.
Also A LOT of enemies you’ll be encountering will be weak to electric. Farm up tobi for electric weapons and its waist armor part which has thunder attack. Happy hunting.
I wear the(female) Tobi gear cause it’s stylish as fuck

This game has me wondering how long it’s ok to leave your ps4 running…the display model in walmart is always crapping out, and it’s just running short demos and video promos.
Edit: omg…just tried laying down LBG’s flares as perimeter containment around a monster instead of randomly. SICK ownage, even with weak ammo.
ok yeassssss the Switch-Axe weapon type is definitely my jam now… The elemental discharges and the whole “transformation” aspect of the weapon…holy shit, man… this is delicious. I just hunted this odd bird-like thing that likes to dig up rocks to use as weapons… mounted that son of a bitch and stabbed over and over…finishing with the explosive FIRE elemental discharge. How did that EXPLOSION taste? Stay down, Toucan Sam. Hell yeah this game has definitely been worthy of the day-1 purchase.
That particular Monster it weak on it’s tail. I think you can poison it too. What I’d say is just don’t be afraid to use the environment and tools. You shouldn’t have to swap weapons to beat it. Just maybe strategies.
I had a similar experience killing Rathalos.
Tail is hard to hit when you melee cuz Tobi always maneuvers to face you…but when you keep your distance, dat ass is somehow either directly in your sights, or in profile. Weird. I’m always using Pierce and trying to put shots into the body via the face, but I always end up going in through the ol’ poop-chute with Tobi. Also, cutting that poison pod near the second area you fight Tobi poisons the hell out of it. You, too, if you’re not careful. Seems to somehow hurt it worse than poison shots.
Killed my first ever Kirin, it was a crazy fight and definitely the most demanding one so far. And this is still low rank lol. Fucking good shit
You get a Thunderproof Mantle for finishing the quest you see him in
2nd time this has happened, but a buddy bought me the game so he would have someone to play with. Always played the Switch Axe, but this Gunlance is glorious. Seen a few vids on bg so I might give that a try. Wanted to try all new weapons this time around. Anjanath is a faggot at the moment.

I ended up commandeering my roommates ps4 and bought the game. Its basically my first time using a ps4 and they made multiplayer hella different from previous iterations. Youre basically in online multiplayer mode all the time right? Im trying to find the online quests that are seperate from the campaign. So far I’ve only been able find quests that follow my campaign and previously completed quests are locked out wtf. I need an adult!
