I don’t feel like Filia is very good. For now I don’t think anyone does less damage than she does, her normals aren’t the greatest, her main launcher has no horizontal range, her throws are crap and she’s a meter whore
Completely agree on Filia. I feel like her IAD mixups are being overrated and exaggerated by most because the game is so new. She suffers a ton when she is by herself. I could see her being nuts though with the proper assist(s) (which is why I love this game, every character has something going for them).
I use Painwheel and Filias Psylocke assist and I feel like if Painwheel dies then I lose. Filia by herself seems pretty free.
I would love to hear your reasoning on why Ms. Fortune is so strong though. She is one of the characters I have very minimal experience with so my knowledge on her is extremely low (her and Double are easily the 2 characters I know the least about). I took her to the training room for like 10 minutes and her obvious strengths just didnt hit me as much as the other characters in this game (I know she has her headless gimmicks but I am very unsure to how strong they are).
Filia has some pretty amazing GTFO me supers though. But thats thing about Rushdown characters, you want people to GTF Near me. I’m kinda baffled at why she doesn’t have a luminous body/ bionic arm/ Kitty Helper.
Yea but if you detect those GTFO supers and block them… then thanks for playing Filia :tup:. That is another reason i love this game. Random hypers are high risk/low reward (I think at least, correct me if I am wrong) that you really need to have a Godlike guess.
She needs that though. It makes sense for her archtype. Mike Z if you ever read this comment you are a fucking genius when it comes to character balance. Everything I come across in this game so far I always feel like it makes a bunch of sense. I truly feel like every character in this game has a purpose for choosing them (which is completely opposite of what I think about every other game in the cosmos).
Fighting game developers take note - less characters that are more balanced >>>>>>> more characters that arent balanced (at a competitive level)
I could also see her being effective when backed by 2 good assists like a Cerebella command grab and Double ass bomb. Her point game is underwhelming though, she gets shut down by characters like Parasoul who has a stronger normal game, eventually her IAD pressure just becomes AA bait, once you deny her air approach she’ll have a hard time getting in since her ground normals are mediocre to bad. At the same time though she does have some use since her assists are pretty good. HK Hairball is nice for rushdown and her DP assist being a damn good AA
I’ve only been playing her for a little while myself. She deals good damage, I feel like she has a better air game than Filia because of j.HK, j.HP and axe kick. All are stronger for aerial approach than Filia’s j.MP or j.HP. She good options for safe pressure thanks to Rekkas, Axe Kick and blockstrings without her head. She builds a ton of meter, especially when headless also. Basically I feel her headless game, once fleshed out, will make her one of the stronger point characters
People should be able to discuss this stuff if they do so in a civil manner. It’s unfair that there is a ban on tier talk.
If every other game allows it then why not Skullgirls?
I’ll say this and leave it. People like to discuss these types of things and eventually more and more people will want to. Why wait until a million people are spamming the SG forum with “Who da bess?” or “I think dis da bess!” threads until one is created? I took initiative and started it due to a post of dime’s yesterday. Finally, if you look at who’s off topic and whose causing trouble it certainly isn’t the people who want to talk about these types of things. It’s the naysayers causing the ruckus in a civil topic thus far. All I ask is that the mods give this at least a chance to run for awhile.
Because it’s not the list that is important, it’s the reasoning behind the list that are important (tools, options, matchups) and you guys aren’t talking about anything.
The sooner you know this, the better off everyone is.
As of now I think Fortune is a better rushdown character than Filia. Filia does not have many good pokes to compliment her speed. Fortune’s J.HP J.HK Cr. HK are particularly amazing pokes and Fortune is far from being a slow character. Range and Speed make a great Rushdown character. Filia lacks alot of range.
Rather than general tier theorizing (way too soon to make anything even approaching a logical assessment of that right now), here’s a more specific tier/matchup question for folks to chew on:
Which character can deal with pressure really well?
I feel like the zoning characters have some really effective anti-pressure tools. Parasol has napalm cannon with that captain corridor hitbox and invul. Startup, and peacock’s teleport is much better for escaping bad situations than I originally thought. Peacock’s throw range and lvl3 also make her alot scarier up close than most other zoning characters.
As a Cerebella main, I feel that she is not in her element when she’s rushed down. She’s not ass (I don’t think any character is truly ass at anything… At least so far) but she definitely doesn’t have any cure-alls for that situation.
I’d like to hear what filia and fortune mains have to say, since I have the least experience with them
Because it’s too fucking early to be talking about tier lists. You guys just get in your own way worrying about this shit. Shut up and play the game, the tiers will sort themselves out.
