Congratulations, youāve just read the most ridiculous thing in quite some time - although, I donāt consider it to be that ridiculous.
One side says Bruce was arguably the greatest Martial Artist of all-time and the other side says he was nothing more than an actor. Put your money where your mouth is. If I myself or many/most(?) people think Bruce Lee was indeed the greatest Martial Artist of all-time, then whatās half of my life savings? Money isnāt everything (to me at least). Yeah itās important but I put it near the bottom of my list of important things. Things like freedom and justice are far more important to me so Iād even put America (even though Iām not American) above money on my list of important things.
Idealism pretty much ranks at #1 for me, and in my mind, Bruce was the personification of the Ideal Martial Artist, just like how America represents my Ideal World.
"Iām going in to represent Martial Arts as a whole. A true Martial Artist can overcome any stipulation, any ruleset."

"Thomas Paine then began to compose a book of some 25, 000 words which he called āCOMMON SENSEā; and in this book, he asked Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, and indeed all of his now fellow Colonial Americans to consider a towering concept: He asked them to consider The GREAT IDEAL that America could become if they fought against King George IIIās England and achieved their American REPUBLICAN Independence."
ā Thomas Paine: The most valuable Englishman ever (Documentary, BBC, 1982)
People can talk all day about this or that guy is the best or this guy would beat the shit out of that guy, but if theyāre not willing to risk anything, then put up or shut up.
Besides, this fight (like McGregor vs. Mayweather) would be a once in a lifetime thing. So I would make a once in a lifetime bet to back up my belief.
At the end of the day though, this is a moot fantasy dream match and nothing more.

Writing and thinking about all of this just made me realize⦠Conor made a big error himself, after the weigh-in. Not saying that heād win because of it but it could have made all the difference with his stamina. How strange that this video was uploaded on the day of the weigh-in too. @Starhammer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwPD9UgAohE
This. The amount of (non-trolling) racism coming out of forums and comments was very sad, and the vast majority was clearly from the Americans not Irish.
Patriotism comes second to race, I learned that a long time ago when I watched a documentary on Joe Louis. Louis was a clean-cut, mild-mannered gentleman boxer who even the white establishment liked because he wasnāt uppity and political. When Louis was scheduled to face Max Schmeling all the white folks were out waving their American flags and using Joe as a mascot for American excellence. But once the fight started and Joe started losing steam all the āpatriotsā turned on him and were cheering for Max to knock Joe Louis out, because at the end of the day the German was a white man. It was a pretty eye-opening sight to see as a teenager.
The irony is that Joe Louis and Max Schmeling became lifelong friends afterwards, even though Schmeling was characterized as an evil Nazi.
Overall I really liked the fight. Iām really surprised how much a point fighters style of striking worked in boxing. The way it offers such quick ways to get off shots from weird angles but also allow for traditional shots like jabs and uppercut was interesting. I thought we might see more point fighting style when wonderboy took off but I wonder if itās gonna be after this fight. But also we donāt have alottt of point fighting/mma crossover.
Also I found it interesting⦠We all know Floyd gave Conor rounds 1-3 but it was til round 5 he finally got it. Iām more amazed that style took 5 - 6 to figure out.
I think the aspect that is being overlooked is Conorās size compared to Floyd. Against a bigger, stronger guy like Canelo or Cotto I think Conor gets KOād way earlier, albeit I think there probably would have been more opportunity for fireworks.
This is incredibly wrong, from somebody like you, whom should know far better, this fight was a mercy and a showmanship bastard.
As thurst said, if Mayweather was statistically the same size of guy and also somebody who could throw a decent punch, he wouldnt need to dance 3 rounds he would have just ended it.
Lucky Charms landing more hits than Manny Paccy is the irish strawman trying to see this wasnt one sided/fix.
I was entertained in this fight, for all its worth for the sake of the know nothing pissant that spent money and fed the demon machine that is corrupt boxing I enjoyed it, but i also bet Mayweather.
This fight is a testament to loudest bitch of social media. For all true fight fans thats the death bell on any true legit best vs the best competition we can hope for. Its been dead for an easy 20 years and MMA has been chasing that sorry record with all speed up its arse, BUT, it goes to show money comes before a true bout.
I cashed out my money and shook my head. Disgraceful to both boxing and mma. Both are now equal partners in the grand shitshow.
Iām an MMA fan and I actually like Conor but I think most MMA fans are in denial that an extremely hard hitting MMA fighter was feather fisted against a light hitting boxer, and on the verge of being Koād by a boxer who rarely stops his opponents and has noticeably declined in speed and power at the age of 40. Floyds last stoppage was 9 fights ago in 2011 and was controversial, this was not.
The funny thing is the majority of MMA fighters such as Bisping and Chael said Floyd will hit harder than Conor because theyāve actually sparred with boxers and hard hitting MMA fighters but a lot of you didnāt believe this. Imagine if Conor was dumb enough to challenge Golovkin or someone like Lomachenko who is the exact same age as Connor and not a 40 year old retired boxer who had been inactive for 2 years? In fact Iād be extremely interested to know how well Conor would do against Amir āglass jawā Khan, who wants to fight Conor in both boxing and MMA, lol.
Connors punches had zero effect on Floyd and thatās why Floyd managed to walk him down and eat his shots whilst having an MMA āone punch knock out specialistā on his back foot, despite being the smaller and older fighter. People say he hit Floyd more than most pro boxers heās fought, to that I say Conor hit Floyd more times than he did the MMA fighters heās brutally Koād but he still had no effect.
Those of you complaining about the āearlyā stoppage need to be thanking the ref for preventing the thousands of extra jokes and memes you would have seen about McGregor being Knocked down multiple times and struggling to beat the 10 count, or the possibility of a brutal KO.
I mean Jet Li did more kung fu competitions and is probably more legit than Bruce ever was.
Jackie Chan is a choreographer and came from a theatre troupe. He invented drunken boxing as sort or a dance routine that worked for film.
The most legit guys are mickie rourke who still boxed about 4 years ago and is pretty okay.
ashton kutcher who was in competitive judo before that 70ās show and i think may have been a state champ in wrestling. He also has a brown belt in bjj.
And if you want to get into it, jean claude van damme was legit in kickboxing. He has a record.
Bruce Lee was a kung fu instructor and teacher who had discipline and great charisma. I however canāt call him a fighter or ever consider him legit.
People point to the āmythicalā fight with chuck norris, but that was for a movie. Not real.
Gene LeBell choked and tossed bruce around using judo and catch techniques. You see some of this in enter the dragon. Donāt know how a crucifix from pro wrestling hurts, but hey he used it. Hell chong li used a can opener to break a neck in that.
Thereās demonstrative martial arts and actual competitive combat sports.
Bruce was more in that art than he was in that sport. I mean roberto duran and sugar ray robinson would have ruined him.
Bruce has no fight record or footage (which I too believe is suspicious) but Iām more inclined to believe he did know how to fight. Street fighters, pro fighters and through my own limited experience have all said his theories on combat are all sound and that his shit works.
Out of Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao both Yuen and Jackie have said that Sammo would most likely beat them in a one on one street fight, and all three of them have been in many street fights. That being said Sammo in his prime challenged Bruce Lee to a real fight and got his ass kicked really quick. He rarely speaks about it but he wonāt deny itā¦
Iāve heard many people say Jet is more legit than Bruce Lee, Iāve even heard people say Donnie Yen isnāt even close to Jetās level, especially when it comes to speed. Donnie often disses the co-stars he fights in his films by claiming they were too slow during their fight scenes meaning they didnāt effectively pull off the fight scenes in a way he had hoped. Heās dissed Wu Jing, Sammo, Jackie and a few other people but heās said absolutely nothing about Jet Li, eventhough they didnāt have a friendly relationship when they first met during the filming of āOnce Upon a Time in China 2ā.
