@DGod205 exactly. They are going for short term gains at the expense of long term stability. They spent all these years building the UFC as a legitimate sport. WME-IMG is going full WWE to pay back the 4 billion dollars they borrowed.
So you donât care if you think a person should get paid even if they canât sell fights? How, Sway?
As far as short-term gains go, Iâd say that the existence of 125 is due to the UFC wanting to have another belt to push short-term and weâre now seeing that long-term itâs an unsustainable weight class.
Its not about it going mainstream. Itâs about the fact that the UFC was NOT worth 4 billion dollars. WME-IMG overpayed. IIRC they doubled the next closest bid. If they had paid what it was really worth, they would not have to pull some many shenanigans to pay off what they borrowed. Of course, who knows if the Fertitas would have sold for the UFC if they only got the 1.8 to 2 billion dollars it was really worth.
You mean the Hendo that lost to Kazuo Misaki like 6 months prior? And pre-TRT Belfort? And youâre really putting Forrest Griffin in with those three? Cmon now.
Hendoâs fights immediately before Silva were Rampage for the Light Heavy belt (decision loss), KOâing Wanderlei for the Pride belt and beating Vitor. Silva was more dominant in his wins and his competition was way better, literally Hall of Fame caliber. Who has Silva fought even on the level of Demian Maia?
Iâm with DJ on this one. They have just been tyrna fuck with DJ for the longest time. It is the promotionâs job to sell their product. It is hard enough to diet, train, and actually win consistently in this sport. In no other sport is such a top tier athlete treated so badly.
So yes? It was the Hendo that lost to Kazuo Misaki not long prior? K, just wanted to make sure. And yeah, Silvaâs competition was amazing. Always fighting all-time greats like Yushin Okami, Travis Lutter, James Irvin, Patrick Cote and Thales Leites.
So, the first half of Silvaâs title defenses were: Marquardt, Franklin, Henderson, Cote, Leites
So 2 champions and HoFersâŠhow many champs has DJ defended against in his entire career? None. The one champ DJ fought was Cruz and he lost. When Silva fought former 205 champs he KOâd them both in the first round. But somehow DJ is more dominant because youâre too lost in recency bias and outraged over Dana being a dick? Lol fuck outta here.
