The mma thread. UFC Fight island is real: Everybody died

After Saturday, all I can say is that BS like this is why PRIDE rules trumps all.

A bunch of fuckbois tried to give Ariel grief for asking a question about her coach leaving their camp that got Joanna emotional.

You know like a journalist.

So he set up a interview with her to clear the air. They also talk about that hilarious Rose picture.

Rose is going to get wrecked

Like no way else that goes

Considering her brawling nature

Stipe vs Cain will happen in 2019 i bet we see miocic vs jon jones or dc before then

Rose actually has a chance, but she needs to really focus on getting some fundamental wrestling skills. It’s actually not that hard to get Jedrzejczyk down but as we saw with Andrade, she’s very quick to get up. Namajunas has the physical tools to boa constrictor around her and the athleticism to actually win scrambles, but we don’t know that can get hold of a leg and do much with it.

i believe in my hood queen. believe in thug rose

I wonder what rose’s top pressure is like

o:)

Kinda wonder if she might be on their shitlist, given her falling out with Roufusport/Askren.

explaining to my former karate boss why hes unlikely to really find a gi bjj instructor whos not affiliated with a camp…is pretty rediculous on its own.

like the whole tradition thing is silly. it makes sense but its so dumb old school that me trying to explain it is funny. but i think he gets it because he came from a traditional karate background and we grew up in a similar world. but in reality the people who are probably more free to instruct and not be tied down by affiliation are the no-gi guys.

in the gi world, if you are below brown belt its frowned upon teaching. and if you dont get the ok from your instructor its almost like you gonna probably get the boot from the school. schools love to put their stamp on shit, and when they do they usually only place brown/black belts. they also get a cut of the school because now they are affiliated and payin them dues. butttt it also helps you…now people have another spot to train with, more advertising from bjj people as well.

man, id love to go back and be an assistant bjj instructor. but i know i cant, because of the affiliation im in right now. and i chose them over my original bjj/tkd instructor. im not interested in starting over with new people, itd be my 4th bjj affiliation switch in 10 years.

Another soul got snatched over the weekend…

But wushu doesn’t work…

Which is kind of silly since Cung Le deaded folks with Sanda.

I’m gonna have to start using sarcasm tags.

Just got through watching Invicta this morning. That Modafferi finish…
BRUH!

Yeah changing camps and weight classes has done wonders for her. I was hoping she’d retire after TUF but she’s 6-2 in her last 8 fights.

I knew you were being sarcastic. It’s just weird that Wushu is disproportionately labeled as a hokey, ineffective, unrealistic martial art.

if she wins 1 or two more probably gonna get dat callup

Sanda != Wushu.

Wushu is the equivalent of rhythmic gymnastics. It’s athletic and dynamic as hell, though, so that in itself has benefits.

Sanda is a separate combat sport.

I always thought Sanda is competitive combat wushu?

**Edit: **At the very least, Wiki agrees with me: “Competitive wushu is composed of two disciplines: taolu (套路; forms) and sanda (散打; sparring).”

maybe in a technical way…the same way kung fu and wushu are supposedly the same thing. but in actuality sanda is just the fighting aspect.

All the Chinese martial arts draw from the same pool (generally speaking), so makes sense.
