I wasn’t surprised. He said in the lead up to the fight. “If I can’t beat guys like Anthony Smith, what am I doing this for?”

Keep an eye out for Ross Levine in glory 67.hes a good friend from the karate scene and is a well known rival for Raymond Daniels. He’s gonna be on the prelim card

I prefer tonon. Lol he has alot of options and apparently hands. He isn’t desperate for leglocks unlike Hall.

Tonon for sure has the more rounded game.

Hall is funny to me. He can play such a unique stand-up game because of peoples apprehension to go to the mat with him.

So Khabib vs Poirier is official for UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi in September. I just wonder how Dustin is going to set up those transitions get Khabib on his back to work his armlocks.

I know this is widely disrespectful but I don’t think khabibs grappling is all that. He’s a good takedown artist… But for someone with worlds of grappling experience his submission game is super trash. Like he should be able to win ong before a decision.

It makes me wonder exactly how much of a priority is drilling submissions for Khabib. The last time I remember him submitting anyone was Michael Johnson via Kimura.

I will say this: Khabib needs to drill those submissions, striking defense and footwork double time.

Its not his takedowns esp that impress me.

Its the relentless control and riding after that whilst GnPing

2 things are always gaurenteed he will td you and he will control you. That’s what hugs me, his control is second to none yet he skips ever submissions just to punch you. I don’t get why you would punch someone for 5 rounds when you can sub them in 1.

Yeah. His control is demoralizing. Even if his opponent gets to their feet he’s usually in a spot where he gets a rear clinch or single and then they are straight back to the mat. Breaks peoples will and makes them gas.

As for the submission thing, I get your point. Honestly I think its just a case of he doesnt want to risk it. He is so confident in his top position and leg rides he wont risk going for a sub and losing position. If an opportunity to submit and keep positional dominance presents itself he’ll take it like vs Connor.

I just dont think he likes purposefully putting his own back on the mat… Even for a sub.

Sub game is whatever my dude. He is keeping position and wearing dudes out with switches. Pressure and loads of knees and punches.

Remember

Position>Submission

Dude is extremely heavy on top. And that is most of it

Khabib should spend time with sambo and catch wrestlers. I mean dude is so prime to catch arm triangles and americanas

We all know about position before submission. We’re not talking about him abandoning the position. He outs himself in position for a shit load of submissions. Honestly yes Kimura is good but back chokes are higher percentage.

He may be top heavy but he tends to be on people’s backs… Off to the side way more. I think he’d benefit way more from danaher/Maia training. He can still punch the fuck outta people with a body triangle and allow him for more sub opportunities

Body triangle is unnatural for his grappling

I do think he needs to make flattening dudes out priority

I honestly think he work neck cranks and such.

This interview is frustrating if you love mma and ufc. “it’s based on your fighting ability” makes no sense if you are losing 80% of your fights. You aren’t breaking into top 5
