UPDATE x2: According to Lance Pugmire of the LA Times, word from the UFC is that St-Pierre did not tear his medial collateral ligament. He will be out 4-6 weeks, and the plan is to hold the fight with Condit in the first quarter of 2012.

UPDATE: Here is the latest on the situation. Penn vs. Diaz will remain a three round fight, due to them being under contract for three rounds. Dana White stated that St-Pierre may need surgery, but that he hopes to have the fight with Condit before the end of the year.

ORIGINAL: According to Dave Meltzer, Dana White has confirmed that UFCWelterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre is out of his UFC 137 title defense against Carlos Condit, due to a knee injury. White further confirmed that there would be no replacement for St-Pierre, and that B.J. Penn vs. Nick Diaz would move to the main event spot.

Funny how all these people are talking on MMA forums about how Machida will pick Jones apart by closing the distance like that shit is easy or Machida is suddenly gonna fight aggressive. Jones picked shots against Rampage better than Machida himself and scored points while controlling the fight smarter than Machida ever did against Page.

But somehow Jones is gonna do the dumbest shit possible and randomly start throwing spinning elbow all crazy? Fuck outta here!!! The Dragon gon’ get outpointed and suddenly Rashad will get a bunch of fake fans.

Not the case, though it can be argued that it should be. An example of a single-tap fight: Fedor only tapped once to Werdum.

general rule is 2 taps+, a single tap could literally mean anything, it could be involuntary due to his hand being near and if cause “pain” just an automatic response to relieve it. not in a i quit situation but in a slap, man up.

also if someone is tapping out from a legbar, you generally dont love tap a nigga…you slap the shit out of it like im out im done…this shit fuckin hurts.

imo that shits questionable.

Oh yeah, I’m not really disagreeing. (It’s worth noting that I know from experience that a heel hook is one of those things you either tap early, or it’s normally too late. :lol:) Just trying to add some perspective.

But yeah, the rules are that yelling out in pain is a verbal submission, and screaming is about as involuntary as it gets. So when you think about something that can be claimed to be conscious decision (even a single tap), it makes sense that it would count as a sub.
