Sorry for dub post but I forgot to say that Frank Mir is a fucking GREAT commentator!!! His Wec commentary was absolutely excellent, he can call Jits with the best of them and can get excited and pump the fight up without seeming like the creppy freak Rogan sometimes can.
I love all the commentators tho so I might not have the best option for this. Except Gus Johnson…fuck that guy. Mauro can get annoying quickly but he;s okay aslong as he doen’t call every fight.
Schiavello and Mauro are my least favorite commentators, followed very closely by Gus Johnson. (At least Johnson admits to his ignorance most of the time, and last I heard, had started taking classes in various martial arts so he better knows what’s going on? That’s respectable, even if as a whole, he’s not.)
All my hating aside, Frank Mir is very good too. I still prefer the team of Rogan and Goldberg as my top two, because they work very well together. My second favorite team is Bas Rutten and any of his alternate personalities. Fucker’s crazy, but he knows what he’s talking about, and it’s always nice to hear him relate it back to an experience he had in the past while fighting.
lol meisha tates b/f ran the fuck outta darkness. damn how you gonna love dbz and rampage and lose…you had me at fuck naruto. broke my heart darkness…but i ride for alpha male.
lol darkness you broke my heart you hick paul daley. wtf kinda mma place did he train at…clearly he doesnt know shit bout wrestling or he’d know how to cut…and well clearly he’s a adcc candidate for bjj lolol. meisha tates b/f must be the tallest alpha male ever hahah.
Mir is good off-camera. On-camera he looks like a giant dope with his nose suck in the air as he turns his head from side to side. I change the channel lest I break my TV.
Goldberg is alright, Rogan annoys me when he pushes a narrative too much - like trying to retire Chuck or favoring a fighter.
Lol keep making the same joke over and over. As long as it takes your mind off of being everyone’s bitch in bjj. I’m glad my friend owned you in that match. He was looking for an easy win and got it. Although from seeing you in your bjj clothes, you probably liked it.
Darkness was on the Andy Wang level of not listening to your coaches. When he said he was a DBZ fan, I was expecting his nickname to be Goku or something.
Ain’t nobody scared Rampage, it’s called a gameplan. Everyone knows what this nigga is going to do once he steps into the cage. And he’s going to do the same in boxing. And Hari wants to retire from kickboxing for boxing? It’s the money issues but he would be more suited for MMA than boxing IMHO.
Hari wants to compete in the Grand Prix next month but since K-1 owes a shit load of money, that might not happen. And I doubt he would go to MMA since Overeem is there lurking the HW division.
only a retard thinks that’s a good saying. especially when he uses it 3 times per fight…and uses it at times it doesn’t even need to be used he just wants to say it. ie. he’s looking to slip and rip. Goldberg is a good commentator…he just says alot of stupid shit.
I commend you on your persistence. It is flattering you constantly think of me in spandex, it probably fuels your imagination as your write your homoerotic fanfic about me. That’s great man whatever floats your boat. Once you are done writing it send it to me and I will gladly autograph it for you.
As for slip and rip, that shit is mad corny. He even puts in a dramatic pause to say that dumb ass phrase.
IMO the only reason Bas is awesome is because he is just fun to listen to.
I just like my commentators semi professional. How can you take MMA seriously if the announcers don’t. Bas stutters, sings on air (poorly) has problems keeping up with modern MMA and doesn’t really care. He can’t really refer to any fight that doesn’t involve himself or someone from his generation.
When he announces he doesn’t really know who the fighters are or what they are good at. The best he does nowadays is keep up with the history of a young fighters team, or anecdotal evidence on their equipment like the effects of long spats, shoes or Muay Thai shorts in a fight. He is best at analyzing striking but he is barely better than Mike Goldberg at that.while Pat Militech blows him out of the water. He knows grappling somewhat but he says dumb shit like “achilles locks are just a pain submission.” When a submission is being applied he starts coaching. He doesn’t sound good and he often teaches wrong, or at least speaks in absolutes which is also wrong. Joe Rogan does the same thing except he does it better, clearer, with less obvious fuck ups. Bellator’s Jimmy Smith is excellent at analyzing grappling and again, Pat Militech is awesome. Mauro Renallo could do the play-by-play better but he doesn’t have the street cred. Frank Shamrock is better than Bas at analyzing grappling even if he won’t stop using old catch wrestling phrases to sound cool.
Basically, Bas Rutten has fallen behind in a sport that has progressed really rapidly. Any desire that anyone has to hear him commentate comes strictly from nostalgia.
Ya’ll wanna listen to your favorite drunk crazy uncle? fine.
