The MMA Thread. BJ Penn Didn't Die #HeDeadThough

He’ll be back on the streets of Stockton dealing drugs before GSP has retired from fighting, bet it. What a waste of time. I’ve got a feeling the BJ fight will be his last in the UFC.

LOL one of those links has a screen cap of Dana’s face during the press conference, HE MAD.

Free fights yay!

sadly its one sided ass whoopings really…nuthin interesting.

How can Diaz fight at anything less than super-heavyweight with you guys constantly on his dick?

Stay mad that he’s beating all your favorite fighters and has more pull in the biggest MMA organization in the world than you will ever have working at Walmart.

#/trollface

edit: But “fo’ really” though - if Diaz’s character isn’t the best gimmick in MMA, I don’t know what is. It definitely gets results one way or the other. I look forward to the BJ fight, but fear he might lose it, because he really isn’t full of shit in the way that he is honestly stubborn enough to actually fight him how he says he will. Straight idiot, and I love it.

Diaz cannot hold a candle to your hero and mine.
Señor Chael

Only bitches hold candles. In the 209 they can’t afford candles. They use one (stolen) matchstick at a time!
209 bitches 209!!!

Who ya got?

Sheilds the man who survived the H-bomb? or Ellenburger who knock people the fuck out.

I’m leaning towards Sheilds because I’ve been a fan of his for awhile plus he has an edge in experience.

Easy bet.
Shields by drive-by.

209, bitches!

hmmmm if shields gets it to the ground him but if its standing i got ellenburger

That shit made me crack up. That’s on-par with the “Magnets” meme.

So wait, you think that he is making this shit up? You HONESTLY BELIEVE that he’s not just some worthless burnt out hoodrat, and he’s doing all this on purpose? See if he didn’t just shit away a title shot in the UFC with his idiot behavior, you might even have a case. A flimsy case, but something to stand behind, at least. But these gimmicks are supposed to propel you to the kinds of big fights that he just gave up. Like Chael talking shit, getting a couple of good wins at the tail end of an up and down career that involved him getting choked or armbarred every other fucking fight, and then getting a title fight. That is a good example of a strong gimmick getting you results. Nick Diaz is just another woulda been coulda been story waiting to peddle dimebags on the streets of the 209.

Seriously I get that you’ve been defending him all along, but you can’t POSSIBLY be standing behind this nonsense that he just pulled. This is you trolling us, right? Me typing all this, I just got trolled here? TELL ME you aren’t seriously fucking stupid enough to condone, justify or rationalize his behavior in this case.

The answer to your question is, “no, I don’t think he’s making it up.” That doesn’t change the fact that they are marketing him based on the gimmick of his character.

Stay steady swingin’ from his youthful loins. For real though, it must kill you to know that he’s successful, huh? I thought Rock was his biggest hater, but you’re in clear contention for a title shot.

I don’t condone anything that he does. I’ve said time and time again that I think he’s an idiot, but he’s a great fighter, which is why he’s one of my favorites. I don’t defend anything he does outside of the cage, and I don’t think I ever have. (Other than maybe beaning Mayhem with a water bottle, but that’s because Mayhem’s a bitch.) I mean, this moron got in a fight in a hospital gown. I just recently said I him as a fighter, but wouldn’t want my daughter to date him. Does that not say it all?

That doesn’t change the fact that his character gets people that “relate” to him to watch. (Whether they really relate, or they’re young white boys from the suburb who sometimes curse when their parents aren’t around - so edgy!) Then there’s people like you that salivate at the thought of him stuttering a single time while publicly speaking (because everyone in here is a ivy-league scholar, and would be able to do it naturally, obviously), just so that you can nerdgasm on an internet forum about how stupid he is and how you’re right on the internet, trying to tear him down as though you’ll ever be even remotely as successful at ANYTHING you ever choose to do.

Whether he’s a window-licking, helmet-wearing, short-bus-riding retard or not, you will never have as much money in your bank account as he makes in one fight. Where does that leave you, besides talking shit on the internet about someone who would likely slap the piss out of you in real life?

#justsayin

You didn’t get trolled, it’s just that you went off on an irrational tangent because you misunderstood. I still stand by my statement that his character brings in fans, whether to love him or to hate him. Just like Brock. Good for the sport or bad for the sport, that’s a different call altogether.

Who cares what kind of fan it is? Look at football, or hockey, or any other sport besides like, golf. Every sport has the shitty fans and the “good” fans. They both pay the same amount for a PPV, a shirt/jersey/jockstrap, to put their ass in a seat, it costs the same. Don’t front like you don’t know what I meant, and that it doesn’t make perfect sense from a business perspective.

It still cracks me up that you think it made sense for Diaz to go up a weight class when he could easily make 155 (he looks like an ethiopian ) to fight some guy who will probably never be relevant in any weight class. Sure, Anderson Silva did it, but Nick Diaz is not Anderson Silva. He’s maybe half the fighter that Silva is. You know who else does that stuff? Nobody.

As stated, Nick Diaz could very well have legitimate mental issues. He’s got anti-social behavior, smokes weed, and worst of all, he says the “F” word a lot. Gasp Let’s just target that instead of the fact that he keeps winning fights handily, shall we?

#stayswaaaaangin

Uh…yeah. Get them steel chairs ready.

I’m not sure how the thing about white people is even remotely relevant. Are there no angry black people in the world that act in the same way as the ones you’re abhorring? When did this change?

He has a history of skipping promotional opportunities (and even obligations, as is evident by this recent one). He did not back out of a fight with GSP. You may want to check your facts. Once again, just to clarify (and you might want to read this slowly so you get it this time) - he is an idiot. He should not have done what he did, and I do not back that up in any way, especially now as it is part of his contractual obligations.

I enjoy watching him fight - that’s all. If you think when I type shit like “Shields by drive-by. 209 bitches!” it’s anything more than for ironic, comedic effect, then maybe you’re the one that should be wearing a helmet.

But who knows, maybe he will fight Anderson at MW. I doubt it, and I think it would be a stupid idea, because he’d most likely get raped. That doesn’t change the fact that financially, they could sell it, and it could make him a lot of money.

From the beginning he said he’d fight Mayhem even at a higher weight class if the price was right. The price just wasn’t right. You think that he’s afraid of Mayhem, but is now willing to fight GSP or BJ “I’m going to lick your blood from my fists” Penn?

But anyway, the game can be played both ways. What fans does Mayhem bring to the game? People that got bullied in highschool and are ready to climb a clock tower and shoot up the place? “smh. white people…”

I understand that we’ll eternally disagree on this, because for whatever reason you like Mayhem and hate Diaz, and I’m the opposite. I don’t expect us to all of a sudden agree, but at least keep it to debating about fighters instead of trying to pretend he is the cause for teenage angst worldwide, and that only white people make you shake your head. It’s silly.

In Stockton, we don’t have chairs, you privileged bitch!
209!

I guess so. I know it’s kinda your thing (that and the somewhat forcefully-adopted large women kicking thing - not saying that in an insulting way by the way, just something I observe brought up often in your presence)

You’re right, but that’s almost certainly what you were getting at. Don’t front. The terms you used, and building up the scenario in the way you did, only to say “promote the fight” instead of just “fight” - I know you’re too smart to not see that :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course he did, but Mayhem really blew up after the show. He had a personality which made him an easy sell for that show (and an easy sell in Japan, too. Baka gaijin soooo funnyyyy). But you can’t pretend that he didn’t gain even more MTV-generation fans by the tens of thousands after this show. Chuck Liddell had fans before coaching TUF, too, but he sure as hell gained more fans during and after the show, though.

That’s not faulting Mayhem in any way for making a smart business move. It’s something I applaud him for. He probably made more money on a show where he “fought” once than at least half of his career in MMA.

I just don’t think he’s a good fighter, and I think a lot of his entrances etc are too drawn out (probably my number one problem with him. I suppose from the pro-wrestling fan background, I feel that he somewhat doesn’t “deserve” to spend an extra 5 minutes of peoples’ time with his theatrics, as though he hasn’t earned it. Strictly opinion - I’m sure a lot of people like them for what they are, I just view them differently)

I find that that’s the case with most fighters. Pretty much all of it. That’s why I judge them primarily based on fighting. BJ Penn is occasionally a whiny bitch, and his fans with their “GSP GREASED” and all that are terrible as well. Anderson Silva and his fans crying about his sore ribs after the Chael Sonnen drubbing. Everybody’s got shitty excuses and even shittier fans. I think we should both be able to agree on that.

From a business perspective, they still put asses in seats, like I was saying earlier, though.

Yeah man, there’s shitty fans on almost all sides.
Hell, nobody likes Mexicans, and look what Cain has done to us.
(Dear Mexicans: that was a joke. / Queridos mexicanos: que era una broma.)

Group hug!

The worst fans are the “still stuck in the PRIDE era” ones. I know someone who was never ever impressed with Anderson Silva or JDS or even Cain because he thinks “PRIDE fighters back in the day would wreck these guys.”

Shit is mad annoying.

Songo?
