I kind of doubt Silva vs GSP is ever going to happen, despite Dana’s trolling. I don’t believe everyone in GSP’s camp will actually allow him to go through with it.
The only fighters who stand a chance against Silva in his respective weight classes are:
Shogun, Sonnen, and Bones.
What Sonnen lacks in jujitsu he more than makes up for with a stronger chin and heart.
The only conceivable way for GSP to win is to lnp to a decision victory. If he even gets caught with any of the hits Sonnen was caught with, he’s done.
EDIT: Also there was a metagame that Sonnen played brilliantly; the shit talk. I member him talkin to us in class one night… on how ppl need to stop focusing on styles and such, and realize that a fight in the cage, is like nothing else on earth. i saw it as a show of strength than anything else, because of the rumors were flying of his injury. and during the fight it was clear as day he was still injured. he was willing to take those td because of his ribs, everytime sonnen went to the body you could see it on his face. I think he had hoped he could outstrike sonnen, you saw him tryin to do his bullshit ali step in round 3ish, but sonnens td’s were too much. thats when anderson started working that triangle, sonnen knew sumtin was up, but obviously in the 5th he was fucked.
i think anderson looked for other options but in the end had to rely on his jitz. but thats purely how i saw it.

Not interested in anderson vs. Gsp either. Nobody has anything to gain. Silva is waay to naturally big for that to be a fair fight. Much rather see anderson go up to 205. He has a lot more intersting fights there: Bader, Thiago, Shogun, BONES!, etc. GSP gets outstruck easy in this onex and I don’t know how much the wrestling helps if he barely makes 185 and anderson weighs 210ish on fight night.
Promoters need to take notes. Dana White is a smart promoter. I wouldn’t even doubt it if Bader had won, he wouldn’t have received a title shot. People are surprised and or confused by this “push” for Jones, but Lesnar was 2-1 before his title shot.
