The only wrestler better than Kos in his weight class is GSP, and GSP proved it the first time they fought when he made Kos look like he’s never wrestled a day in his life, so the second time around Kos decided to stand with him, which was a mistake, because Kos is not a good striker.
When I say GSP’s weakest facet is striking, I’m not saying his striking sucks, it’s probably slightly above average, but if you were to list his strengths, striking would be low on that list.
Yeah Forrest ain’t ready to fight Shogun again. Maybe Forrest/Rampage 2 or even Machida, that would be fun.

EDIT: Granted Page lost to Wandy twice and came back to ko him, I think Wandy was sort of washed up. Maybe not completely but in the latter parts of the rinse cycle. Shogun looks better than ever injuries notwithstanding and Page hasn’t been himself in years. I still think it’s suspect just not all that suspect.

I think Ace is done. He was trying to make his one last push for a title, and had he beaten Forrest he would be in line for a number 1 contender shot against Machida or Rampage, but that’s all over now. And it’s funny, too because I think he would have had a pretty good fight against Shogun. He should probably retire soon, maybe take one more fan-service fight. (Maybe Randy or Bader) He’s been a classy guy and a warrior his entire career, and I wish him well, but there’s nowhere for him to go. He can’t move down in weight and he certainly can’t move up.

Agreed. In terms of fighting IQ and gameplans Rich is definitely up there. That’s how he’s survived for so long in the sport without having a fuckton of natural talent.

As a fan of Shogun I gotta say this fight with JJ is quite a test. Bones is fucking HUGE! I see a lot of the same problems Shogun had with Forrest to be a factor in this fight, and Bones is probably about as big as Forrest, and he has a lot more power in his hands than Forrest does.
As I said, I’m a Shogun fan, but I don’t make excuses for his fight against Forrest. Forrest beat him, for real. Shogun looked past him and got out-worked. Yes he had problems with his leg but if you feel confident enough to take a fight, you can’t make excuses when you lose.

Hell, I think Shogun is smaller than Bader, and Bader looked tiny vs Bones. Forrest’s main asset in his fight with Shogun was his size. Shogun got tired just trying to get Forrest off of him, and was completely gassed by the 3rd round.
And before people jump in with the “ZOMG INFECTED LEG!” argument, just know that there’s no evidence pointing to Shogun’s cardio getting MUCH better since that fight, the Machida contests weren’t heavy on the ground work. Also, Shogun has always been fairly easy to take down, even if he was at 100% during the Forrest fight I think Forrest still lands the majority of his takedowns. If Bones takes a page out of the Forrest handbook, he might be able to grind out a win.
I mean, as a fan, I’d much rather see them both try to knock each other out, but Bones has a significant size advantage, and if I were his coach, I’d get him to utilize it as much as possible.
