They won’t be though. Pettis will take a back seat, I’m almost certain. No reason to not let him defend his WEC belt against someone else, and then have a unification after. It might make things a little confusing to casual viewers, but no more so than the average boxing event.

Yeah that’s completely true. I just figure it will help Pettis take a fight a bit more willingly if they consider it a title defense. I mean, I guess realistically he’ll just fight anyway, but it could give him room to fight Benson Henderson in a rematch seeing as their match was fairly close as well. They could even do it on the same card potentially (both fights will be good, IMO). Then they can have one of their great WWE moments where they bring both in the cage for a face off. 
Gomi doesn’t train with Kiguchi anymore. Kiguchi made sure he was able to see everything that could happen in a fight. Gomi left Kiguchi Dojo and started training with his Shooto rookies. There was a photo showing he was training with Genki Sudo, but Genki probably was just rolling and staying in shape rather than actually improving with Gomi. Kiguchi gave Gomi discipline. Nobody gives him it now. Gomi gets baited. Even though all his submission losses before were to really good submission artists… Guida is just unacceptable.

i heard dana was knocking steve mazzagatti again for not standing silva/vera up in the 3rd. I think dana’s completely wrong on this.
Firstly, Silva was on Vera’s back, not a semi neutral position like a fence clinch or closed guard. On that point, Silva, I believe had 1 loose hook in and was not even committed to back control, vera was on a knee and could’ve likely gotten up if he fought with more urgency.
Lastly, Silva was slapping the hell out of Vera’s ass and face for a really long duration towards the end, a standup would’ve set a poor precedent and limit what people consider to be offense and deter people from slapping each other in the future. If a fighter is able to ferociously slap his opponent’s ass and play bongo on their back, then they have earned it and are perfectly in the clear to do so if they please.
