Thor made me lol in the movie. He kept getting hit in the face, he was actually funny. And he does j. M to the black guard at the base.
Same here bro. But I’m glad the way they did the movie, I especially liked how as long as thor had mjolnir it was “lolezmode” to him the whole time. They always downplay how strong thor is in mainstream media. Other than that loved the movie action packed, and showed us why we love thor. I need to rewatch the movie though, didn’t enjoy it in 3D. But oh well.
Read the “Siege of Asgard”, mostly because of Cap and Thor. Sentry literally shut down Thor, it was like 7-3 match up lol. Wasn’t as bad as Ares v.s Sentry, that was like 9-1. I don’t understand why Sentry wasn’t put into the roster.
He also did Might Thunder on the mass of frost giants, a fully charged might strike on fenrir (the big ice monster thing), and mighty tornado on the destroyer. Looks like in god mode thor doesn’t make use of his normals and relies on his specials/supers. A pretty meter dependant fighter, his meter use in the movie wasn’t too far off from how he uses meter in the game lol.[/comicbooktalk]
I’m starting to find Mighty thunder useful to dhc into midscreen. How unsafe is MThunder on block? I would also like to note, for anyone who doesn’t know this. After I would say the first 5 hits of MT thor is in an aerial state even if it’s done on the ground. Therefore after a certain period after starting up MTornado you cannot xfc into another MTornado. So you have to cancel it earlier on, but luckily MTornado leaves your opponent in an untechable state until they touch the ground. Just thought I should state that.
Ya thats basically its only use but it usually doesnt do much damage, i only use it when i catch an assist or if i rly wanna kill a character.
And to say that mighty thunder is unsafe on block would be an understatement, i honestly think that its the most punishable blocked hyper in the game.
ive been using the low l, h xx kara m hurricane with moderate success. I think its definitely useful. With practice i can definitely see it being a staple in Thor’s offense.
I’m switching to Thor on point. I feel that a character with so much life and does so much damage can’t be as low as some people say. Gotten better with the mighty hurricane reset to the point where it only takes one mistake to sucessfully take out a teammate. it’s crazy. Not to mention all the stuff I could be using, like Mighty Smash into Mighty Tornado to punish or when I tag someone with a Mighty Strike, combo it into Mighty Tornado. I’m willing to bet I get can a Mighty Tornado off of H Mighty Spark from up close. Once I master the triangle wavedash thing and the kara hurricane, My Thor will be unstoppable.
Still trying to figure out the best order: Thor/Haggar/Spencer, or Thor/Spencer/Haggar? Heard some stuff about a DHC glitch with Spencer. Maybe I should read up on that.
i would go with thor/Haggar/Spencer, if haggar’s your last character and you dont have anyone else alive you’re pretty much screwed if the other player has a projectile.
With that order you wont be able to use the DHC glitch though. That being said spencer is still a pretty scary anchor, he gets a good boost from XF and his hyper can go through anything which makes it hard for ppl to keep him out since they can get punished the moment they throw out anything big.
Sounds like a plan. I recently found out you could combo into Body Press off an aerial M M H xx Strike xx Tornado combo, so that order would work for me.
So no one has had some of Odin’s beer since June 6th?!! Thor’s dvd release is Sept 14th and Thor 2 is announced for July 26th or so 2013 :3 I’m always up to date on this stuff.
Does anyone go into an inexplicable state of bliss when they’ve successfully landed a mighty hurricane in a match or is it just me? I wrecked a friend who had hulk on his team, once thor came out, hulk was completely shut down, I’ve had similar affects when I had my thor up against sentinel and tron. Command Grabs>Super/Hyper armor.
Yah landing them in a match is very rewarding and painful for the opponent haha.
Haha, yeah I love landing Might Hurricane. I was playing an Akuma player yesterday when I only had Thor left, he got a combo on Thor and ended it with a hyper, taunting after thinking he had one but Thor survived. I dashed up and killed him, and then his full life Hulk came in with X-Factor against my no life Thor. He came in with j.S but I air Might Hurricaned him and then reset him twice finishing him off with Mighty Tornado :nunchuck:
Well just started playing thor online today and my first few games were riddled with awkward offensive pressure(stare downs for days lol) and dropped combos but overall I like thor and I definitely think he is a lot better than I gave him credit for at the start of the games life cycle(Shoutouts to nissan for being right). Still trying to fit all his tools into my gameplan but I kept it basic, was playing a wesker/deadpool/magneto the wesker kept doing unsafe teleports and naked tagging so I just waited and punished whenever I got the chance. He won most of the matches but I think I got a tad bit better overall.
It takes time getting used to Thor. Once he gets his offence going, it’s hard to stop him honestly, the trick is GETTING that offence started.
I doth needeth assistance!
can someone evaluate my Thor performance and give me feedback on what I can do better?

I’m tired at the moment, but I’ll put 2 key things.
DON’T use Thor as your anchor, as you can see you’re helpless against a full team with their assists. If anything change your order to hsien-ko->thor->taskmaster. You’ll be better off that way. Taskmaster is too versatile compared to the rest of your team, so save him last.
Xfc cancels with thor, do your best to use MH, it normally has a 3 frame startup, but thor actually gets speed boosts with xf, 105% on level I think and 110% on level 3. Meaning that a command grab like medium MH would have less startup combined with it’s fairly good hitbox, means you can go for the grab into death and save the meter and for sure kill a character, which wouldn’'t be the case on a character with full health v.s MP. I’ve been using this a lot more and it works out for me. Work on your hit confirm, you landed a jh and didn’t capitalize on it, ad abstain from using cr.:h:, it’s kinda ass, at least when compared to cr. which has a lot more active frames, making it easier to hit confirm, and a decent AA for Thor.
That’s what stuck to me the most, I’m tired/sick. So someone else will cover the rest.
Blade pretty much hit all the high notes. As for things you did good, that golden Hsien-Ko worked pretty well with Thor. I woulda liked to’ve seen more of that. Good for stopping some of those 50/50 mixups with Wolverine and Doom, getting rid of that pressure, and applying pressure of your own with Thor, then your opponent’ll start being more careful in his approach, which should open 'em up to some Mighty Hurricanes. The Mighty Tornado into Taskmaster’s up arrow super was pretty good, so that’d be another reason to put Task as your anchor. Not to mention his horizontal arrows give Thor good cover for getting in.
Other than that, good showing. I guess you could throw in a few more Mighty Strikes. You get 3 actions per jump, so that’s 3 Strikes going in different directions to keep the opponent guessing. Good for mobility an’ junk. Good show. Just to bottom line this, never put Thor as anchor.
I’ve tried hsien-ko->thor->taskmaster, but getting her gold before a chunk of her health is gone is pretty tough. she takes double the hits in some cases. she needs all the health she can get and thor on point is horrible without his golden assistant. I’ll keep playing hsien-ko->thor->taskmaster and see if I can get my act together with that. If it works out as planned it would be one hell of a team.
Activate gold are at the start of the round and fire that sonic wave projectile reflector thingy, then raw tag thor, it’ll give you coverage from any incoming attacks for the most part. That’s what everyone and their mom does these days with hsien-ko, Wong started that shit if I remember correctly.
I think I’ve finally stumbled on something that solves my Taskmaster/Akuma troubles. Fighting Taskmaster in general is a pain because you have to be really, really patient when he goes into his BnB. You know, the Mighty Swing, j , j , Mighty Swing, j :h:, land, cr :l:, cr , blah blah blah. Most of the times, I try and punish in spots I know I can’t punish, and my Thor gets torn apart. Well, recently, I decided to hold out a bit, and got a push block. So the guy called in Akuma’s tatsu assist like he usually does when I push block Tasky, and I’m trying to think of a way to get out of the corner again. And then I just so happened to hit a standing :h:. I didn’t move, I didn’t call an assist, I just pressed :h: and it hit Akuma and Taskmaster as they were coming in. It surprised the mess outta me, but I went with and followed up with a launcher and the BnB. I think I dropped it and eventually got back into Taskmaster’s BnB, and the same thing happened. Push Block, he calls Akuma’s Tatsu and dashes in with Taskmaster again, and I hit that st :h: Got my birthday present, and I killed Akuma right there, and Taskmaster, and from there the fight was lookin’ up for me. I don’t really know the timing of it, but I’m gonna experiment with it some more until I get it consistently.
Nice info, please get back to us on that one.
Does anyone else have a hard time with small characters when using Thor, or is it just me?
