I was having a conversation with someone in Japan last night, and he was saying that while MB still draws players, a lot of them don’t like the changes made in ver.B? Let me just paste it:
So he’s complaining about Sion (and later on bitches about Shiki’s nerfs, who he played in ver.A. I have no idea if he’s fucking with me or what, as this is the first I’ve heard of it. The revision seems to be coming, though…
For the revised version, one guy on the official BBS said it’s just some superarmor adjustments. Speaking of armor, a lot of people are complaining about Sion’s 2C having “godly superarmor” in ver B (one guy talk about 1-22F, on a move with 19F startup WTF??? O_o ), i guess that was why she was S in most rankings you could see on the japanese BBS linked by linalys some pages back (a lot of people were talking about her 2C in the thread without any clear explaination), anyway i also guess this will be changed in the revision (too bad for us Sion players).
Also in the thread about the revision, a guy talk about SBC throw being possible with 214 E E, someone who have acces to the game could check that please, it would be quite strong with Warc for exemple.
Too bad? That sounds like a huge mistake. For reference, in the PS2 version the super armor is from frames 16 to 19.
That also explains why ill_will was beating every single blockstring I was using with her 2C. I guessed that they upped the super armor on that move in ver.B AC but the entire startup and impact duration? Hurrrr.
Yeah the 2C has mad crazy super-armor.
And yeah, her infinite is gone, but she can still do a TON of damage.
From 214B she can do (run up) 2A 2B C 3B j.B j.C 66 j.C (jump) j.B j.C airthrow for like, 4-5K. Don’t forget that in the corner, while she cant do an infinite she can still do:
whatever into 3B 421C (A) [C] 214B above combo. Crazy damaging. Anywhere on the screen on most characters (prolly all, but i have trouble getting it on Kouma and Arc) she can do 3B 214C and then do whatever she wants after that, too.
And of course 6B is mad good, 2B has mad crazy range, 2C has the superarmor nonsense.
Its amazing i still manage to lose like, everytime when i use only Shion when she’s that friggin good. :lol:
For Kouma and Arc (and Ciel also), delay the 214C after the 3B and it will work fine.
For the 2C, even if i said it was to bad for Sion players if they remove it (because of course no one like to see his character nerfed), it’s obviously too much, just the fact the superamor is from frame 1 is really strong.

And yeah, 2C is so good, if theyre just offensive, i can just 2C 214C cause itll just go through whatever they do. Imagine a GOOD player using her, scary…
Can someone explain to me how a good player gets hit by Sion’s 6B because they were blocking low? I can fully understand someone getting hit because it beat out a low move, but I compare it to your typical 24-frame low in Tekken – and if you’re consistently getting hit by those, you’ll usually be told to GTFO the machine at some point.
I just bring that up because you mentioned it and Sp00ky and I have been arguing this for the past year. :V
You know who deals with Sion’s 2C bullshit really well? Neko-Arc… no, really. If it does some blockstring and Sion does 2C in response and Neko-Arc cancels into 623C, Sion instantly dies. Shit’s comedy gold when it actually happens.
I see good players here get hit by it. It’ll usually surprise them at first and then after a bit, they’ll know when i start to place it and then will start to block it like normal. I still see it placed well by good players and hit duckers. =P
But hell, i thought it was slow, but i still see people getting hit by it, and i still manage to hit people with it. Theyre not SBO material, but they’re not terrible.
As for the Neco-Arc thing, i dont think Shion really needs to use 2C to beat him. She still lands her full air juggle no problem and can get things like 3B 214C without any problems and he takes damage really badly. It is funny when it happens. If Hisui does 623C 623C itll prolly kill Shion too if she does 2C, but yeah, the positives far outweigh the negatives.

meh, it took me 3 days of playing to friggin finally get Kohaku’s combo down, so dont feel so bad. After playing arcana heart also, i had to re-learn this game cause it felt so weird to play.
And i unno, its worth trying every character. My Shion is better than my starting characters of Kohaku and Ciel, even though Shion’s learning curve is higher. So i unno, even if you dont use her after a week, its always worth learning a character and trying it. =P
well im fuckin retarded (apparently) and slow as hell so not being able to get hisui’s full air combo (jb jc jb jc, where as i was not doing the last jc) for a while made many people very sad pandas~
but no worries, I WILL PREVAIL

Well, for Hisui, people here rarely end with airthrow, they usually do some other stuff into like, B 2B (or is it B 6B) where she hits you down and then they bust out their crazy maid mixups.
Good luck with Len tho. I just know you do like, some move that hits them up a bit into her ice super, then right when theyre about to land, hit them up and air juggle into throw in the corner. From there, mixup with the ground his or hitting them for free if they tech. =P

Since I decided to put more time into this game while I wait for an AH console release… why are there like no Miyako players besides me and 722 :V. And by Miyako players I mean somewhat decent ones(though I got scrubbed out by Stone at Omaha, hurrr).
Whens the next time you guys are going to play besides the 10th, I need comp badly. Training mode gets you but so far :V
She’s just an unpopular character in general. I see her used on the occasion here, but i unno, compared to the amount of nanaya, both akihas, warcs, and satsukis i see, she’s barely used. She seems somewhat weak and has a few deceptive things that just dont cut it at really high level tourneys or in high level play.
Plus she looks like a brat. XD
