Umm guys, as part of the US SBO Quals… members(for lack of an official title), I’m 99.9% sure no one in the USA will be holding SBO Qualifiers for Melty Blood. I’ll leave it to Planet Zero to make their own announcements though, since they do have one game that I totally did not expect anyone to sponsor.
However, Andy of TGA and myself have been open to the idea of SBO quals for MB:AC next year, if the level of competition is sufficient. This is because we both believe that the Melty Blood scene in the US hasn’t even gotten off the ground yet. Not even close. Yet we’re STILL impressed by the support and dedication to this game. I’ve also gotten somewhat serious about learning the game myself and starting a scene here on the West Coast.
Sp00ky, if you really need to, go ahead and take a break from the scene. I’m confident that it’ll have grown quite well by the time you come back, if you decide to do so. But school and life are important as well. If you’re going to quit MB:AC because there’s no SBO Qualifiers this year, then it’d make sense to take a break for now and return to the scene in 2008 if there are Quals and when the scene’s grown by then. But if you’re going to quit MB:AC because you have other things to take care of, then that’s a perfectly responsible decision to make.
Sucks about the lack of qualifiers, but I suppose it isn’t hard to see why.
No KOF 98 quals either? Lame.

Why do people keep tossing Marvel around when it comes to US vs Japan? If it was still hot shit to them and they actually cared, they’d be able to at the very least compete. It’s a double-edged sword. You know, that same reason why most JPN games are never localized and brought here, do you REALLY think that, even with all of the good things in its systems, Arcana Heart would be favorably welcomed by the US community? Already I’ve seen a lot of people come in the Arcana thread and say, “That game with all the little girls in it? GTFO with that shit, I’mma play with my hella manly Magneto with his ripping muscles and LARGE JEWISH COCK.”.
And frankly, if you really think the Japanese are waxing us in everything, STEP YO GAME UP. Do what it takes to make it not happen anymore. Even if that means infiltrating their little information circle by coming here to Japan. If you’re not going even that far(you don’t even need to come here, just know where to look online as they almost never explain strats in person unless its to personal friends), then STFU and stop playing. Or simply stop crying about what they play in THEIR TOURNEY, especially when they’re NOT EVEN PLAYING FOR HUGE CASH PRIZES LIKE WE DO.

I hate it when people say this, because frankly I don’t think it’s possible.
Most of their players have the resources to play every day, really. Whereas someone like myself is lucky to get seat time in the game once a week, and doing it any more than that is just not practical. I have no idea how true that is for most people, but I doubt most people can get together to play on a daily basis like they can. Logistically they have a huge advantage, and frankly I’m surprised the US can keep up at all in any fighter.
I had a whole lot of shit to say but I’m not gonna say it as I was going way off topic. Basically it’s not for those who have more commitments, but for those that have nearly none and still cry. It all boils down to peeps not bein hungry enough.
And once again, most strats are out there if you knew where to look, as they use the net more than we do for the passing of knowledge. The arcade time is simply for experience.
