The Melty Blood : Act Cadenza (PS2) thread~

Some characters are inherently better than the rest / more annoying (Shiki / Vermillion~), but it really is viable to win with much anyone in this game, especially at high levels.

;p

@ Nothingxs:

Well then FUCK THEM.

End of story.

Yes, fuck them for playing a game differently than you do. ;(

I just noticed that the energy color of Aoko’s specials are different depending on her character color. Pretty neat.

i browsed through aoko’s colors and noticed most of them were kind of ugly. i’m guessing 19 would eventually be a popular color, but other than that i personally like 12/15/21/22/24. surprised to see that the original two from the arcades are the only ones with red hair.

a lot of people also seem to think that some of the colors are supposed to represent fate characters. but i’m really not sure since the color pallette for each scheme is relatively small, so it’s kind of hard to tell if they’re intended. and since there are 24 schemes for each character, they could just be purely accidental.

ahahahaha

Why do you people incessantly deny information? Why don’t we need to know? What knowledge are you preventing us from knowing / keeping to yourself so that the community stays weak? If you’re going to play a shitty character, wait for it to be established later on and then get pissed off at all those annoying forum scrubs who wouldn’t stop crying about tierlists. For now, just FUCKING TELL PEOPLE THE ANSWER TO THEIR QUESTIONS.

And please stop acting like a scrub. You are in the position to give people information. If someone asked me for a tier list in any game I played, I’d gladly give them that. Someone like myself, I research a game inside and out before I ever touch it, simply so I have a better understanding of the deeper complexities of it. Never to learn bad habits, never to waste time.

lol

I like color 7 for Aoko.

Ugh, anyone know where that character changes list is? I think I saw it here or dustloop.com. Spent 15 minutes looking for it and now I’m giving up.

I hope Miyako’s changes don’t change her that much, cuz I won’t be able to play this game for long, long time. le sigh.

I don’t think they have a full list of changes yet, most of the changes have been pulled from Japanese BBS posts, which often concern only certain characters.

Welcome to Conclusions on the Internet. I hope you enjoyed your quick jump here… and it seems like you traveled with Assumptions.

Seriously, Chibi is not telling anyone a tier list if only because nobody has one! The update has been out for two freakin days! There are tier lists for the older versions available, but they are exactly that – older versions.

For an established game, choosing a character based on how well they match up makes sense (path of least resistance, and all that). However, with a game with a lot of unknowns, such an attitude across the community will result in brain damage, as players will overlook a ton of yet-to-be discovered information. At some point people will figure out if someone overlooked really is worth playing (as there is a huge edge gained if you do figure that out initially), but that just stunts growth in the short term.

Chibi is fundamentally correct – play who you want to play; let everything else sort itself out in the end. If your character is unplayable trash… it happens. If you want to play the best characters in the game (which is understandable), you will have to wait a bit because nobody knows.

Sometimes you do not have that luxury, and you have to do the experimentation, research, and time waiting yourself. Welcome to the bleeding edge.

First and foremost, people have not specified a version “B” tier list. They have specified a tier list in general. So, yes; You can pretend that there is no such thing as the arcade port (Version A), and stick strictly to the “new” adaptation that nobody is playing in Japan currently. Quite honestly, I’m sure for people such as myself, and many others, we prefer to start with version A, and move to B when:

  • We can understand the changes
  • We can see that the Japanese are playing the same version.

You can play Melty Blood Alpha 3: Upper if you want. I’d rather play a game that is currently being used in tournaments and in every arcade in Japan. Just because a game will become ported doesn’t mean it will be accepted. So, in regard to your post. Yes; I understand there is no tier list for the new version. That would be quite obvious and pretty ridiculous to assume as such, especially for a player of my caliber, wouldn’t you agree?

I need tier lists so I know how to start at the bottom!

N - I just dropped Satsuki strictly because she’s not junk tier. Ugh, I’m an addict.

Renkantai B hits “middle” omg yay. She has a “standing” overhead, all fear Miyako!

This is the MB:AC PS2 thread. In context, requesting a tier list without stating which version you want, you should get one for this version. What, do you think if you requested a tier list for Melty Blood in this thread that you would get one for the original PC version (without explicitally stating you want one for the original version). That’s silly.

So you just want to ape Japanese strategies and tactics. Nice.

What Japan does is reveleant to what I am playing nearly half a world away how, exactly? It’s nice and all that people play the game in game centers there, but that helps me none.

The arcade standard is nothing more than a myth in the US nowadays.

When was the last time this even happened? The only game I can think of where the last revision was not accepted was Alpha 3, and Alpha 3 was a complete mess, regardless. Given that the PS2 version is being released as an update to the game in arcades, I think that the odds of people playing the older revision are remote.

This is the Internet. Yes, it is ridiculous and unreasonable to assume such a thing, but there are many people here who would ask exactly that.

(And no, I don’t know who you are. That’s not a shot against you; I just do not read SRK much nowadays and have no personal context to judge your post with.)

Thongboy Bebop: You could always play Neco-Arc.

Well, Zero 2 Alpha is another example of an update that never got anywhere. 3rd Strike also had an updated version that was shunned, the one which removed things like Aegis unblockables. It happens sometimes, which is why most players will take a wait-and-see approach. I’ve been playing on version B just because I know it’ll be ported to arcade and I just kind of don’t see the point of playing version A yet, especially since the differences are really minor. Kouma is my current main and I don’t even know what’s been changed for him between A and B yet.

I am so fucking happy this game came out!!! Im sooo gonna waste alot of time playing it LOL

Color 7 has red hair. And that’s my favorite one so far. It’s almost like her default color except with a black shirt.

o, i guess i missed that one. D:

dunno, it was pretty late last night and it took a while to cycle all colors because of load time lol.

i think i’ll use 15 as main for now.

There’s nothing wrong with that, as, typically, top Japanese players know how to play the game better than any of us here. Example using GGXX/: American Sol scrub likes to use Dragon Install and thinks it’s really, really good. In reality, DI fucking sucks no matter how one uses it. Mashing DI when you get 50% meter is not how to play Sol. If one watches Japanese videos, they can understand the game better and learn how to play their character(s) better from that footage. My example is a bit “extreme” I guess, but everyone should get the point I’m trying to get across here.

Anyways, what makes Sion so garbage now? I know the infinite was taken out, but other than that, what makes her so much weaker compared to her A version? Is her damage output just that much lower, or does her gameplay seem to take a big nerf as well? I can’t imagine her rushdown suddenly becomming non-existent with Ver. B…

Beast of Fire has the right idea, and I thought it was so obvious, which is I’m shocked that this argument is even happening. How can you shun a version of a game that you haven’t even played yet? Obviously the japanese, in the end, will be playing the superior version of the game, by actually playing both versions and coming to a conclusion.

Spirit Juice and Kugler, you guys kinda jumping to conclusions…you might not even have a chance to sit on version A. How knows how long it will be until arcades switch to version B. And by then, it might be awhile until you understand the differences between version A to version B. Your just delaying the inevitable by wanting to play version A first. And besides…how about playing the game for yourself? I’m pretty sure people can agree with me when I say that this game isn’t really hard. Sure, they’re might be somethings that we might not be able to pick up that japanese will, but you don’t have to limit yourself by relying on the japanese to tell you answers for everything.
