The Master Cook Book: Combos, Match-ups, and FAQs (Updated: Ultra SF4)

The problem with simply jumping when you predict (eg. Guess) when a command throw is coming, is that you have about 1/4 chance of guessing correctly.

If you guess incorrectly, you get combo’d and if Abel has EX, or U1 in stock, you have just given away half your health bar.

Instead of jumping, I suggest backdashing.

You can also throw in the odd lp + mp + lk + mk + back dash (throw + focus + back dash) all at the same time. This obviously techs a throw attempt, and focus backdashes their normals.

Don’t rely on this though, I tend to read my opponent, find out when they like to command throw, and base my mix-up on that. I think back dashing is least likely to get you killed if you happen to guess wrong.

To be fair, Abel should never get a chance to apply that pressure.

Punish all jump ins, and keep a nice safe distance by using sf.hk to keep them at bay. No wheel kick should go unpunished, and if they randomly roll, get ready to throw it.

Keep out of Abel’s mk range and you shouldnt have much to worry about.

I feel like Ive been gone for an eternity. Playing some matches offline at Chinatown fair has thrown a few things out the window. Here’s what I got.

Cammy matchup: Wakeup Mashed Cannon Spike ONLINE loses to meaty slide, and I have the replays to prove it, with EX Spike beating it. But offline I was got spiked out of it each time.

I tried something else… meaty shower kick. I’m not sure if meaty Shower Kick was stuffing cannon spike attempts or if the opponent was simply scared and holding down back, I didnt get the chance to ask him… Can someone be a pal and confirm this?

I’m thinking of making a thread and blabbing about fients…

Run back, stop, Shower Kick consistently got hits for me on LOTS of people, and when they finally did block, I would mix in the “3-frame close fierce” with very encouraging results, the other things in the mixup where mash throw, and the lp string.

Whiffing target combo seems to bait at an almost hilarious rate.

and for crying out loud, turtle guys. its free wins.

on cammys light cannon spike the invincibility frames end before the moves active frames. thats why u can meaty slide it. its just like rose’s ex soul spiral

Thanks for your tips Papel & Dawgtanian.

That’s an option select?, looks interesting

THank you

I cooked Meat Loaf for my family this evening, they love the stuff. I combined 1 lb of ground beef with minced onions, salt, pepper, and oregano I baked it in a pan covered with aluminum foil for 45 min at 350 degrees, then I uncovered it poured a sauce consisting of ketchup, bbq sauce, and basil and continued to bake for another 15 minutes.

My grandmother insisted that I make fresh white rice along with it. (She’s an old asian woman who can’t eat meat without rice)

Can I get some cooking discussion in here?

I’ve been having to cook for the family the last few weeks which has made my friend call me El Fuerte. Nothing special, just mixes where you add the meat. Yesterday, I made Chinese sweet and sour chicken with rice.

Once I move into my apartment in a month, I’m going to try all sorts of stuff. I have a couple of friends that are from outside the United States so I’d love to make all kinds of food from different places. I’m wondering if I should get a blender though so I can make horchata again. Before I leave, I need to make tacos, enchiladas, and/or quesadillas.

If my roommates want me to cook for them, they need to provide the ingredients and an additional 5-10$; things will get pricey if I’m catering.

I’ll throw in my salsa recipe:

Ingredients
3 lbs tomatoes
4 serrano/jalapeno peppers (depending on where you get them from you may need more or less)
1/2 cluster of garlic (if I had to guess, 2 tablespoons of chopped garlic, but I just kind of go by feel)
1 medium sized white onion, chopped
1 handfull of cilantro, destemmed and finely chopped
cumin powder
salt
distilled vinegar

-Combine tomatoes, garlic and peppers in a blender or food processor. Blend thoroughly. If you want to be old fashioned you can use a Mortar and Pestle for the peppers and garlic and just kind of smash up the tomatoes the best you can, might make for thicker chunks of stuff.
-Put mixture in a large pot, cook on stove at high temp (Level 8 to 10 on scale of 10, depends on stove). Stir thoroughly while mixture comes to a boil (if you don’t stir it will bubble up and spill over the sides), adjust temperature if mixture rises too much. When color turns from pinkish to a darker kind of reddish orange color then turn heat to medium-low (3 to 5). Let mixture cook for 15 to 20 minutes while stirring occasionally, this will thicken the mixture.
-Stir in chopped onions and let cook for 5 minutes, then stir in cilantro and let cook for an additional 5 minutes.
-Remove from heat and add salt and/or cumin powder to taste. This step is completely optional. The cumin powder gives it a little bit of a bolder flavor, I usually add a big pinch or two but if your not careful it will overpower the rest of the salsa easily.
-Add 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar, this will help the salsa keep longer and is especially important if you plan to leave it at room temperature for a long period of time.
-Enjoy with tortilla chips or anything else. Keep refrigerated when not eating and it’s good for 1-2 weeks or more.

This is a recipe I learned from my grandmother (who is Mexican) that she’s been making forever. For the most part it’s pretty much a standard Mexican/TexMex salsa. It’s pretty damn good as far as I’m concerned, but feel free to add or omit some steps or ingredients. It’s also really good to cook with. Cook in with beef/chicken fajitas or chicken breasts and add some shredded cheese on top to get some sweet eating. :bgrin:

I’m saving this. Normally, my family just buys the Picante stuff at the store, but I like mix-ups.

I already saved it to the recipe section!

Bitchin’!

I tried a supposedly mexican drink called Sangria (I got the non-alcoholic version since I can’t drink), damn it was soo divine! From the taste it seemed like a mix of citrus fruits with grapes, and when you drink it with your standard mexican/texmex food it makes it that much better! I tried to imitate a similar fruit punch and asked some local cafeterias to do that mix as well, but it was just not the same. Anyone have personal experience in making Sangrias?

I almost exclusively go for spicy food these days when I have the option, a few friends are already seeing the Fuerte influence on me and tease me for it lol

@Paper: just one note on your Fuerte fitness thread link, I always get “page not found” when I click on it, does it show anything for you?

also, just throwing a suggestion here, should we put a section for lucha libre matches as well? since we have a section for mexican food, we might as well have a section for awesome luchadors to honor Fuerte and cover his background.

I saw the commercials for this while I was in San Antonio (hot and I loved it).
Lucha Libre USA: Masked Warriors | Full Episodes, Photos, Episode Synopsis and Recaps | MTV

Anyone with MTV2 available should look into this.

Vs Balrog. Qbomb beats ALL rush punches.

Vs Cody. Qbomb loses to ALL ruffian kicks. Cody can’t catch Fuerte, turtle all day to get Cody to start dashing, his dash is long, perfect for cr RH or qbomb. Zonk knuckle has a touch of invincibility, think of it like balrog’s turn punch. If Cody charges rocks while you are full screen wall jump, then eat him alive.

Vs T. Hawk. Guacamole beats condor dive. Condor dive can be punished with ultra spark on block.

sooo OT but i’m a personal fan of sangria, couldn’t let this pass through !
it’s not mexican but spanish, and is a red wine punch. it’s served very fresh, no ice. i can’t really figure out what the taste would be without red wine though ! maybe with grape juice and a lot of sour fruits (pineapple would probably work) you could approach it.
actually, i’m guessing our luchador is more inclined on tequila…

GGs to Paper last night, too bad it lagged up pretty bad after the 2nd game. We’ll get some more in soon.

Edit:
We probably shouldn’t be too worried about this, but my brother found this weird Ryu vs Fuerte glitch the other day that allows Ryu to pass through Fuerte in the middle of a combo. It has some reset potential after a stun but for the most part it’s pretty much only for flash.

sigh I come here to see if anyone has done any useful research or learnt something new, but instead you’re exchanging cookery tips.

Hey man, that’s part of what this thread is about.

I think I’m going to try to work shower kick > s.lp > c.lk > c.mk xx super into my game. I tend to land a lot of shower kicks so it could give me a nice 340 damage off of a shower kick instead of the 100-150 I usually get.

Guys, I might make a video of some stuff that I havent really seen before. and I have some good ideas to counter alot of stuff that give us trouble. I’ll probably add this reset that this NY fuerte player OJ came up with. he was telling me about it on the train yesterday and it sounds interesting and cool to style on someone. I’ll try to make it asap.
