Can anyone help me out with safe tortilla in this game? The timing I used in vanilla does not work at all. I’ve been grinding in training mode for so long but to no avail. Now I feel like I can’t safely mix up Ryus or Sagats at all.
Proceed to get safe scissored.
tofu, its because now DP’s start up in the air. so you cant catch them outta it.
What the amigos said plus when he is down stay as close as u can and when he is standing up do a regular slide at this time he makes U2 and you proceed to perform your Super (u have plenty of time to see their faces), u can do your U2 but u need the perfect timing…
What the fuck, seriously? I had no idea. I was messing around in training mode, you can still make them whiff with a safe tortilla, which is obviously better because you can punish them with Fuerte’s faster focus attack.
By the way Spag Rog, I’ve been watching your matches against high level opponents, you’re doing big things man, keep it up. I also pictured you as older haha.
Edit: Safe tortilla still works the way it used to against Akuma, Cammy and Ryu, but it’s extraordinarily rare for me to stuff their DPs. I don’t know. It’s dumb.
You can still stuff Cammy’ DP with safe tortilla. I swear I’ve stuffed Akuma’s DP, too. Does Akuma’s start in the air, too?
Akuma’s still get stuffed like Vanilla, only one that changed is Ryu’s which is much harder to stuff now.
Is it just me, or is Balrog just such an easy matchup?
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It’s gotten a lot easier since vanilla.
hey, i’m a bison player and i’m planning to go to a tournament here in cali soon. i’m trying to identify the options every character can use to shut down the EX Psychocrusher as a getaway option on bison’s wakeup. For example, after the knockdown, ryu has jump in OS DP, chun li can downforward roundhouse and kick from behind, and she also has an OS c.hk or s.hk upon jump in.
What are elf’s options to beat this escape option? If you are extra generous, please let me know how you option select/straight up beat EX Devil’s reverse and teleport as well
I saw a video online of elf option selecting slide to get in again on bison after he teleports. any other wisdom you guys can share?
If you do wake up EX PC we can punish with u1 but not u2 unless we’re standing far away from you on your wake up and you still ex pc. Yea theres an OS for your teleport j.fp input run in whatever direction, if you dont teleport fp will hit and we can mix up, if you teleport we run in the direction we inputted, typically people will run slide but if we’re quick we can go straight into rsf. I live in cali also so if you wanted to get in some matches later and try the match up for yourself i wouldnt mind
thanks El toro and sure, i’ll add you on psn. my handle is liluoke
Bait dat headbutt.
Balrog is an easy matchup if you can knock him down. If he’s smart and doesn’t dash punch (or rather, dash straight specifically) and just plays the footsie game/jab pressure, it’s hell.
lol it’s more than just that, for some reason I find myself easily catching Balrog players off guard with rush punches, ect… I mean I’m not saying it’s like 10-0 or something lol but it just seems easier.
Jab pressure is difficult but you really shouldn’t be screwing yourself into that situation in the first place imo. When I find myself there patience is key.
damn el toro, those matches were intense. i never fought elf at that level before and i had to really get punished before i learned my lessons about stupid ex psycho crushers. i’m gonna study the replays to learn.
i do have a few questions… i feel like if you hug the wall and do wall jump into elbow, all my anti airs fail, so i gotta neutral jump in anticipation. i think i also was able to ex psycho crusher you midair. i think that worked to some extent, but iono, were you even afraid of that?
i felt like traditional footsies like i’m used to didnt work at all here, so i had to do alot of neutral jumps and backdashes and throwing. it was nice to land those close standing fierce frame traps but i think you somehow adjusted to it later. i figured you’d stop crouch teching so i was able to throw you easier for a while, but in the later games i had trouble tick throwing you at all or frame trapping you. is this cuz you guessed right each time or did you juts modify your crouch tech timing?
and yeah, corner scissor kick pressure was basically how i won in the games that i did, and i noted your reversal options
- ex guac throw
- ex run into stop or body slam or cancel into ultra
- ex back run for the crazy armors. lol. i can think of a few things i can try against this though
at first i was abusing the c.lkxxscissor with bison since elf doesnt’ have 3 frame move, but then the x run into body slam owned it. also, ex guac throw would get out, it was punishable with a roundhoues but if i tried to throw you’d recover in time to run away. x run loses to throw, but ex guac escapes completely from it, so that’s a mind game.
thinking about this, my strategy was to walk back and bait your reversal options and scissor you when i was in a good range and mix it up with roundhouse to stop you from jumping out. im not sure but i think sometimes i was far enough that your ex guac would land in front, so that was good for me, but your ex run absorbs 3 hits (i didnt know that before lol. just learned the back ex run gives 2 armors and going back forward is 2 more) so my scissor didn’t work too great. i guess i gotta have the reactions to c.lkxxscissor for the 3 hits, or just have the reactions to throw you. does this stuff sound about right? but yeah man, if i ever let you out of the corner… that was some scary shit.
props on your elf btw
Chun-li’s backdash
Turtling is the way to go versus Viper. Her stun capability is too good.
Thank you paper!!! I love you no homo!!! <3
