The Marvel Q & A - Rebirth

The Damned,

I’m impressed with your description about Cyke’s power (about that eye acting as a dimensional gateway thing). I’m a Cyke fan anyway. That aspect of his mutant power isn’t really discussed much by Marvel.

The only sources I know where that description is stated is The Science of The X-Men book and the older (more detailed) bio from Marvel.com.

Do you have other sources for detailed Marvel character description? I don’t assume that got that info about Cyke from following X-Men issues for so long. I’ve been a Cyke fan for like years and the theory about his eyes acting as a dimensional gateway–I haven’t found that thoery from any X-Men comic book I have.

Haven’t read this whole Thread, but in Xtreme X-Men’s last issue, Rogue and Gambit’s near death experience has stripped the two of their powers so the two have run off to have there relationship finally! Hopefully it will stay this way because if any Mutants deserve a happy ending it’s these two.

By the way The Damned,

Are your last posts really yours or you just quoted it somewhere?

I quoted them from some website I found searching on google. I’ll put a link in a minute.

wait, the Xtreme Xmen aren’t authorized. They basically stole the diaries and ran…

I know, I just copied what the article said.

I’ll edit it later.

This Thread does a great job of telling us what the Marvel side of MVC2 is up to, but what about the Capcom side? I’ll post the ones I know. Please note that I use Japanese names.

Rubyheart - After MVC2, she tossed the Orb that Housed Abyss into the sea and took everybody home.
Amingo - Got a ride with Rubyheart.
Sonson - Same as above.
Ryu - Still training to become stronger under Oro.
Zangief - Probably still fighting for Mother Russia.
Guile - After SF2, quit the Military and now lives with his family.
Gouki - Still training to become stronger.
Morrigan - Combined with Lilith. If Demitri’s ending’s official, she turned into a statue before he could kill her and sits in Demitri’s castle.
Anakaris - Some Punk fell into a warp zone in his Pyramid.
Bulleta - If her ending happened, she’s stuck in Hell killing Monsters.
Captain Commando - ?
Jin - ?
Strider - Defeated the Grandmaster’s Army for the second time. Since Strider 1 and 2 are like 100 years apart or more, it seems that Strider does not age.
Hayato - ?
Ken - Married to Eliza, trains their son Mel and Ken’s student Sean.
Chun-Li - Quit Interpol after SF2. Now raises a bunch of adopted kids, one she even had to rescue from Urien’s clutches.
Dhalsim - No longer fights and is living happily with his family.
Vega(dictator) - Killed by Gouki.
Cammy - Member of MI-6. Knows she’s a clone of Vega, but has decided to look towards the future.
Nash - Dead.
Sakura - Is either still training, or gave it up to go to college.
Felicia - Last seen posing as a Nun.
Rockman(Megaman) - Heavily conjectured that he was killed by Zero.
Roll - Same as above.
Tron Bonne - Last seen helping Roll from Megaman Legends in getting that future’s Rockman off the Moon.
Kubon(Servebot) - Still serving "Ms. Tron!"
Jill - ?
Dan - Opened his Saikyo Dojo in Japan and trains students.

Well, according to your statements, it seemed that most of the charcters in Street Fighters were done through the term of “Cannon”. I do not believe there’s a story within the universe of Marvel and Capcom. If there’s a plot in the combination of both universes, I believe the ending would be somewhat different.

Yeah, just like what’s said about Marvel here is “Canon.” Except for Rubyheart, Sonson, and Amingo who are in no other games but this one, (although there’s a male Sonson in some game) so I just used what VERY little info we could gather from the ending.

Hmm.
There’s a bit weird thing about the VS series of the Marvel vs Capcom.

At the first place as X-Men and Street Fighter finally combined, there are ending for each characters.
Same thing goes to Marvel vs Street Fighter, and also Marvel VS Capcom.

But there’s no ending for Marvel VS Capcom 2… I believe it was because of there are too many characters, and the ending would be pretty confusing, I think.

For anyone wishing to know about most of what the Marvel Side of MVC2 is up to, The Marvel Encyclopedia came out a few weeks ago. Not as thorough as the Marvel Universe series in the 80’s since it’s only one book, but it does catch you up to speed on things. It even has Power Ratings and that’s pretty cool. It reads “Volume I” but I’ve heard nothing about an upcoming Vol. II, so maybe this is an Annual thing? Don’t know yet. Talk more about it tomorrow.

Power ratings of Marvel Encyclopedia suck.

Regarding the Power ratings - Well, it is from Marvel so sucky or not they have to be taken seriously. They work in ranges however and sometimes they don’t work very well, that’s not to say they are wrong.

For example, Spider-Man and Wolverine are in the same Range - the able to lift 800 Lbs to 25 Tons Range. Now, I doubt that Wolverine can lift 25 Tons, so he’s probably at the shallow end of this Range while Spider-Man is at the higher end of this Range.

Interestingly, (going by memory here) if I remember correctly, in one of the issues of the Marvel Universe Series in the 80s, they summed up the stregnth ranges in like one page, omitting Super beings like Galactus, and such, but listing similar ranges with the character’s names listed in the ranges. If memory serves, Wolverine was in like Captain America’s Range and Spider-Man was one notch higher in the next Range. Although, Wolverine’s been powered up immensly since then, to a point where like even slitting the guy’s throat won’t even kill him (He’ll heal it up VERY SLOWLY but survive) when it was long thoght that this was one of the only ways to kill him. Not that this has anything to do with stregnth, but a good example how a popular character can be given “power boosts” by companies with them acting like it’s always been this way. Kind of like what happened to Chun-Li in SF.

The Marvel Encyclopedia has all the MVC2 characters except for Marrow, Shuma Gorath, Spiral, Silver Samurai, Omega Red, Blackheart, Psylocke and Colossus. The last two are dead so rightfully so. From Capcom Games past, Apocalypse is missing since he merged with Cyclops and it looks like Cyke’s personality is in control. Onslaught’s not listed because he no longer exists. As for MVC1 helpers not in MVC2, Thor and Jubilee are in the book but no U.S. Agent.

Being a Cyclops fan, I’m proud to say that I know more about his stats than anything that Marvel Encyclopedia has to say.

He’s 6’3" and 195 lbs for the longest time until one whacky bio in Marvel.com said he’s 6’1" and 185 lbs. The writers (researchers) of Marvel Encyclopedia most likely did some poor research and decided to take majority of the encyclopedia’s contents from the bs marvel.com bios.

By the way, what are Cyke’s stats (including power ratings) stated in that book?

Marvel characters’ power ratings have been messing up since marvel.com bios showed up.

At least during the Impel/Sky Box trading card era, things have a better degree of consistency.

What company is this put out by? And is this is only in Japan?

Damned - Marvel put it out a few weeks ago. It should be in Comic Stores now, so you should go to your local Comic Book shop and ask about it.

Agent Guile - I wish I had the book in front of me, so I’ll list Cyke’s Stats on Monday since I’ll be a little busy this weekend.

Yeah, you have a pretty good point about Marvel being lazy regarding stuff like this. Interesting story - A few of my friends interned in Marvel recently. From what they told me, sometimes they would discuss old comic book stories with a lot of the writers and editors and a lot of times when my friends mentioned basic stuff that many comic fans know, the Staff was like, “Really? That’s cool! When did that happen?” Yeah, pretty bad… And with Marvel’s New Concept of “Super Consistency” Instead of “Super Continuity” in most of there books, it’s not like they really have to know all that much nowadays anyway.

Basically, this is how their new “Super Consistency” works over what they had before, which they dubbed “Super Continuity.” Now, this is just an example of how it works and their ain’t no Mutie called John Doe!

The Mutant John Doe has been around the X-Men fighting them for a long time and has a complicated history. Forget all that. Next time he shows up, he’ll be a Lawyer. So you don’t have to track down and read 100 issues to find out what he’s all about. At times, this ticks off regular readers like myself but it makes the book easier for new readers to pick up. With Marvel’s sales doing as well as they are now, don’t expect it to change.

Here’s the stats for Cyclops in Marvel Encyclopedia.

Real Name: Scott Summers
First Appearance: X-Men #1 (1963)
Height: 6’ 1"
Weight: 185 lbs.
Eye Color: Glowing Red
Hair Color: Brown

And his Power Ratings which range from 1 being the lowest to 7 being the highest -

Intelligence: 3 - Learned
Stregnth: 2 - Normal. Can lift own body weight.
Speed: 2 - Normal
Durability: 2 - Normal
Energy Projection: 5 - Long range, long duration, single energy type
Fighting Skills: 4 - Experienced fighter

Thanks for the info.

Surprisingly the power ratings were very accurate (exactly what I’m expecting). BUt the Physical stats were wrong. He should be 6’3" and 195 lbs.

I believe this would be a pretty good information for my fiction…

I will ask several more questions regarding the marvels character in the later times.

This is Rouge’s Absorption List, courteousy of the great people at UncannyX-Men.Net.
