The Marvel Q & A - Rebirth

X-Statix. I guess I need to read up on that. One thing I didn’t read that I want to now is Generation X. It’d be nice too see that come back. I remember the TV movie they did for it. I liked it. But I hear a lot of people hated it. They were supposedly going to start a series, but since people hated the movie, they scraped the Gen X series.

I picked up that Avengers 2005 Marvel thing the other day. Finally some information on the Sentry, and other lesser known people (I found out a while ago that a sistah was Captain Marvel before (I think Genis Vell is his name) became Captain Marvel. Marvel kept making him take her name also. She was Captain Marvel, then Photon, and now Pulsar. I do wish they had added a little more (like some info on fuckin Ronin) but I guess they have to keep that on wraps until when they debut him.

I also got some Marvel Prieview thing that shows their October lineup. I think they have some nice stuff coming up.

Oh you didn’t know about the black Captain Marvel? During Secret Wars I James Rhodes who we know as War Machine was posing as Iron Man at the time. In the Iron Man suit he was hitting on Captain Marvel big time and she didn’t know what got into Iron Man thinking it was still Tony Stark in the armor, she didn’t realize it was a brutha trying to hook up with a sistah.

I started grabbing some Supreme Power issues the other day. For one I didn’t totally like the idea (creating Squadron Supreme/Sinister because of another company’s success with a model of that type). But there are some interesting things in it.

  1. Nighthawk is tight. Batman is like one of the few DC guys that I like. So a Black marvel one is tight. But I think back when even the original was created he was white. But whenever they brought this back they decided he’d be black so that’s cool.

  2. The Blur is also tight. One thing I like is this book seems up-to-date. The Blur is an example of this. He looks like a young dude from Atlanta. Him and Nighthawk have already formed a partnership, leading to a lot of the great conversations and shows of each’s personality.

  3. Doctor Spectrum is a pretty nice GL substitute. His style is different from GL. Even though their power is basically the same.

  4. I never really liked Superman or the concept. So I didn’t expect to like Hyperion. But his character is at least kind of interesting.

Princess whatever and others I don’t really care for yet but maybe later. I think Hyperion and Nighthawk are getting their own mini-series beginning in September so I might look out for that.

Gladiator still whooped him! XD

From the Avengers 2005 Marvel Universe Comic, here’s what War Machine’s up to. Note that the point where I’m starting is when after the fight with Onslaught Franklin Richards created a new world for many of the heroes to live while on this world everyone thought they were dead, including Iron Man.

"With Stark gone, Stark Enterprises became Stark-Fujikawa, and Rhodes was offered a position with them but learned that they were after the secrets of Stark’s armor. Rhodes sacrificed his Warwear in order to purge Stark’s computers of all data of the armor. Stark was restored to life by Franklin Richards and eventually returned to his previous career.

Rhodes founded his own marine salvage company, but an extravagant lifestyle and an unscrupulous accountant left him bankrupt. At that time, Rhodes’ sister Jeanette was killed by members of the 66 Bridges gang in a part of Brooklyn called “Little Mogadishu.” Unable to get at his sister’s killers through the polices system, Rhodes became a vigilante in order to bring the 66 Bridges to justice. He was aided in his mission by Kevin “Kasper” Cole, a.k.a. the White Tiger, a police officer and protege of the Black Panther; Danny Vincet, a.k.a. Junta, a former secret service agent trying to regain his reputation; and Josiah X, a Muslim minister who was the son of the 1940’s super soldier Isaiah Bradley. Rhodes used part of a prototype War Machine armor to face off with Triage, the head of the 66 Bridges, and the gang was dispersed by Rhodes and his allies."

I hope they use Rhodes/War Machine still. I think He’s got a part in the Ultimates, but It’d be good if he have a part after HoM.

HoM #5 should be out tommorow. Also the new Thunderbolts. HoM has affected that too. Genis Vell is Captain Marvel again. He’s supposed to be working for the (Kree I think). So Wanda’s reality has affected other planets and shit.

HOUSE OF MVC2

Heh, heh, couldn’t resist the pun. Here’s what the cast of MVC2 is up to after Scarlet Witch remade the world. She basically gave most of the characters their deepest desires.

Magneto - There was a great war between Mutants and humans dubbed the Human-Mutant war. The Mutants won and Magneto took over the Earth and rules Genosha. Humans are becoming extinct and it’s popular to be a Mutant on this new world. He’s been urging his son Pietro to hook up with Storm. His daughter Wanda(Scarlet Witch) has no powers and Lorna (Polaris) is living with him as his daughter too.

Wolverine - He’s dating Mystique and works for S.H.I.E.L.D. He remembers his entire past. Due to his healing factor he was one of the first to realize that this world created by Scarlet Witch just isn’t right. S.H.I.E.L.D. is run by Sebastian Shaw now and they look out for Mutant’s best interests.

Rogue - Her birth parents were killed during the Human-Mutant War. She was adopted by Mystique and along with her step brother Nightcrawler is also a member of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Sentinels - During the Human-Mutant war they where the Mutant hunting Sentinels we know of, but after the war they work for S.H.I.E.L.D. now and police the humans.

Storm - Queen of Kenya. She has helped turn Africa into a World Power. She’s not crazy about Magneto’s rule and might be working against him with her former lover Black Panther.

Apocalypse - Okay he’s not in MVC2 but he was the boss of X-Men vs. SF and MSH vs. SF so what the Hell. First of all, he’s alive in House of M. During the war he worked with Magneto, but after he tried to rule the World himself and they came to blows, Magneto won.(??? Okay I’m going to pretend this is the Magneto that can control the iron content in your blood and not that dork that showed up in Excalibur who was threatened by Callisto holding a plastic knife at him…) Magneto placed Apocalypse in charge of North Africa.

Iceman - He is one of the four Horseman of Apocalypse. His powers are supposed to be amplified. No word on which Horseman he is supposed to be (Death, War, etc.) and no word if he is still 100% ice all the time.

Colossus - Defended his Russian hometown during the war. After the war he is living hapily on the Family Farm that he has taken over.

Sabretooth - Murdered Senator Robert Kelly. Later he went to Alberta Canada and went nuts and started killing people. S.H.I.E.L.D. sent Wolverine to take him down. Sabretooth is now in Magneto’s care for reasons that are unknown. In this reality it doesn’t seem like Sabretooth and Mystique ever gave birth to Graydon Creed.

Cyclops - He’s an airline pilot and married to Emma Frost.

Doctor Doom - He realized that Mutants were becoming the dominant species so he sided with Magneto during the war. He is now the King of Latveria. His armor is like Liquid Metal and he can use it to create weapons like T-1000 of Terminator 2. Doom’s a bit tired of being Magneto’s lapdog, he may rebel against him. He has his own team called the Fearsome Four who he gave powers to through experimentation. Doom leads and I guess his Liquid Metal makes him sort of ‘rubberry’ like Mr. Fantastic. His wife is the Invincible Woman (can’t turn invisible but can create Force Bubbles, minor Molecular Control) who’s real name is Valeria Von Doom as she’s the Queen of Latveria. His son The Inhuman Torch has the same powers as the Hunam Torch and his real name is Kristoff Von Doom, the Prince of Latveria. ‘The It’ is this reality’s version of Thing, but he has the brains of a dog and is kept on a leash by the Invincible Woman.

Hulk - Hulk went to live with Aboriginal people in Australia and lives in peace. Magneto thinking that Hulk was a Mutant asked Banner to join the war against the Humans but Hulk declined.

Iron Man - During the war Tony Stark created armor that could destroy the strongest Mutants on the planet, but after the war this armor is used in a televised sport called Sapien Death Match that he participates in as well with a new version of his Iron Man armor. His company Stark Industries gained exclusive contracts to create Sentinels for S.H.I.E.L.D.

Spider-Man - As I said before, he’s married to Gwen Stacy and has a son named Richard. He’s a famous celebrity because the World thinks he’s a Mutant but he actually isn’t. He gave actress Mary Jane a big push in her carreer by starring opposite of her in a movie. His Uncle Ben is still alive as well. He’s an all around good person but he loves pushing around his employee J. Jonah Jameson and making his life Hell. The writers of the comic say that this was Peter’s greatest desire, mostly due to Gwen being on his mind a lot lately after her and the Green Goblin’s kids have appeared in our reality. I hope he still finds his way back to Mary Jane even in this reality.

Captain America - He was never frozen after World War II. He’s 89 years old now and retired.

Psylocke - After the world went screwy Rachel Summers Phoenix pulled her away into a pocket dimension. But as soon as she and Pheonix entered this dimension they were instantly brainwashed into thinking it was real. Her brother Captain Britain was also pulled away from this dimension by his uber Magical acquantances Roma and Saturnyne. Roma and Saturnyne were scared that Scarlet Witch’s Reality shifting powers would spread to other worlds and destroy all existence as we know it so they wanted to wipe out Earth 616, our Earth. Captain Britain asked them to send him in to save the World and they gave him 48 hours. As soon as he entered this World he was brainwashed as well, in this World he is the king of Britain and Psylocke as his sister is Royalty as well. After a dream Captain Britain is slowly beginning to realize that this World is not right.

I really wanna see HoM FF #3. It’s going to be the final one. I wanna see what happens when they enter whatever zone or place it is. There is so many aspects to this shit that make it so good.

Magneto knew that Doom might try to betray him.
Wanda created this reality so she might have created whatever place their going too.
Who is Doom’s moms in this reality that keeps putting these dangerous notions in his head.
One thing I’ve been wondering for a while is; if Wanda created this reality can she sense anything going wrong within it. If so can she just fix it or what.

The Spiderman HoM is getting interesting too. I don’t really like Spiderman, but his book is pretty good now that JJJ has exposed him of not being a Mutant. In my Marvel previews book for October they show the cover for Spiderman HoM #5 (the final one). He’s a bum.

And House of M illustrates oh so well how far out of touch Marvel has gotten with their characters and audience.

HoM FF should be longer, let the writer flesh out the other characters in the group. Otherwise they should have just called it House of M: Doctor Doom.

And I wonder if the organ Spidey loses is one of his ‘fellows’ or in casual terms, one of his balls. I mean it is called ‘The Other’

Personally I think either Marvel is going to have the ‘long term’ affect be that the mutant population is decreased, once again hated with a passion or become the world’s dominant population.

SHUMA-GORATH FINALLY GOT A POWER RATING IN THE MARVEL UNIVERSE HORROR 2005 BOOK!!!

SHUMA-GORATH

Intelligence - 3
Strength - 7
Speed - 2
Durability - 7
Energy Projection - 6
Fighting Skills - 2

And don’t wory, he’s not dead according to Marvel, just banished from Earth. It says “…Shuma continues to seek to conquer Earth and other realms, sometimes by acquisition of objects of power like the Infinity Gems.”

By the way, all of the Imperfects in Marvel Nemesis have Power Ratings too that you get the more you play the game. I’ll post up the ones I got if people really want them. I’m also wondering if we should keep track and post power ratings of the Marvel Nemesis heads in this thread too. Mainly, Daredevil, Elektra, and Torch. Thing’s Power Rating I posted before. Wondering what yall think?

Minor updates -

Silver Samurai - Is now dating Viper in New Avengers. YES!

Hulk - Defenders is a really funny comic! Dormamu’s sister Umar kidnapped the Hulk and made him her love slave. Hulk dissapointed her in bed as he could only go six minutes with the Goddess, she was too much for him lol!

Turns out Silver Samurai is not dating Viper. Last month in New Avengers we got the visuals, this month we got the audio. She just kissed him and he was like back off me crazy bitch!

Ramifications of House of M - After House of M when the world went back to normal, the Mutant Population’s been cut down massivly. Both Iceman and Magneto have lost their powers. Wolverine remembers his entire past now. Spider-Man’s kind of messed up in the head, most people don’t remember the events of House of M but Spidey does.

Something is wrong with Spidey in his current story “The Other.” No one knows exactly what but it looks to Reed Richards, Bruce Banner (expert on Radiation) and Doctor Strange that sickly Spider-Man doesn’t have long to live.

I disagree on Shuma Intelligence & Fighting skills. He is an Ancient Demon God. And a damn
smart one at that, who came VERY close to taking the Earth a few times.

Not to mention, skilled enough to fight Stephen. Hell, Stephen had to drain one of his minions,
who supposedly had “unlimited” power just to fight Shuma evenly.

2 & 3 my ass.

I don’t know anything about Shuma-Gorath but that’s how Power Ratings work in a sense and that’s the weakness of it in some scenarios like this one. Intelligence is based on Education for the most part. Fighting Skills is based on training for the most part. I mean, I suppose he could be ranked as being Omnipotent for argument’s sake. But Fighting Skills, he’s given a 7 in strength at least so he probable doesn’t have to… I dunno… do much of anything to kick people’s Asses like most Gods can just wave a hand (tentacle in this case) and wipe you out… plus a 7 in Durability means he can’t be harmed either. Galactus himself has a 7 in everything but a 1 in Fighting Skills for example, it’s not like Galactus needs to learn pressure points when stepping on people works like a charm…

not again

Spider-Man’s organ loss finally went down today, it was pretty shocking…

he lost his organic webs?

Well 24 hours have passed, I guess a spoiler is okay now… read below if ya want to know… the event went down in The Amazing Spider-Man Issue #526 on stands now.

SPOILER ALERT!

Morlun took Spider-Man’s left eye ball out and ate it. :wow:

Spiderman writers seems to suffer from hal jordanitis

IE fuck the character up and make him borderline psycothic, then let him almost destroy the universe or kill lots of people
