The Marvel Q & A - Rebirth

Batman > Batgirl > Lady Shiva > Richard Dragon.

but shiva beasted batman

an batgirl beasted shiva

Didn’t Shiva want to lose though? I’m pretty sure she wanted to die in that fight with batgirl.

In Claremont’s X-Men The End Book, an alternate reality ending for the X-Men, he revealed that Mr. Sinister was his father. Errrr… did someone want to shoot Claremont? I can get a gun.

There was a very cool scene in the Wolverine Soultaker mini series for Kenshin Fans. Wolverine went to the place where Shinsengumi members were buried, their corpses rose and fought him, pretty cool. I was a bit sad that I didn’t see a Shinsengumi member weild a spear. Harada Sanosuke, the Shinsengumi member and the real life inspiration for Sagara Sanosuke, my favorite Anime/Manga character and where my net name comes from was a spear weilder. All though he wasn’t buried in the Shinsengumi resting place so I guess he wouldn’t be there, he sort of dissapeared from Japan kind of like Sagara Sanosuke does in the manga and second OVA. Legend has it that he had his own army in Shanghai after leaving Japan. The real life Harada Sanosuke was supposed to be very fat and more blood thirsty then Sagara, but he was a gambler who loved the ladies like Sano of RK.

Whose father? Claremonts? (haven’t picked my issues up recently)

Oh, I can’t believe I didn’t write Gambit’s name down, what a dumb Ass… Yeah, X-Men The End revealed that Mr. Sinister is Gambit’s father, he took that red thing out of his head which I suppose made some kind hologram and when he took the red thing out is showed what his face really looked like - Gambit’s, minus the red eyes and he had black hair, said “I am your Father” so to speak, more accurately something like “sons and fathers should work together” and Gambit said “Oh God!” or something like that. Rogue found evidence about this too elsewhere at the same time.

i thought it was clear she doesnt care about death, and wants to die in every fight, well now shes beasting demons in hell apparently if it wasnt one of nerons lies, he is the prince of lies(richard dragon #11?)

Oh god, now this is fucking retarded. :lame:

Picked up the Marvel Universe Fantastic Four 2005 book. Now, I don’t know where I read that Doctor Doom was dead and I’m pretty sure it was in more than one source, but for his info in this book which is supposed to be current it lists him as still in that prison Reed created for him. Unless he faked his death during this time, perhaps during the time his soul escaped into Thing’s body, any FF fans out there keeping up with the book? Closest I can get to him… dying in recent events in the book is where he was trapped in Hell before his imprisonment by Reed, but not dying and going to Hell, just trapped there.

Something I didn’t know, Doom has a thing for another female Marvel MVC2 character…

“Doom has shown infatuation with the X-Men’s Storm (Ororo Munroe). Via a defective Cosmic Cube, Doom once merged two realities, creating one in which he ruled Earth as emperor, with Storm as his queen. Like all of such efforts to achieve supreme power, however, the power was eventually usurped from him, and normal reality restored.”

More relationship woes - After Mary Jane Parker performed at a play, Peter Parker went to a reception afterwards. He had to run out of the function and leave her high and dry to chase after a Hydra agent. A tabloid reporter witnessed this. Later Mary Jane took a cab to her home in Stark’s Tower. The tabloid reporter followed her and questioned her. Mary Jane felt she couldn’t tell him that she lives there 'cuz there’s no way they could afford that place on Peter’s salary, so she told him that she was visiting Tony Stark. Next thing you know, the paper the next day read she was having an affair with Tony Stark…

You think the Parkers got it bad? Gambit and Rogue are trying to get past Rogue’s power with White Queen’s help, meeting up in the psi plane. Gambit however, has been lusting after one of his students named Foxxy who’s been lusting after him. (Milligan is making it seem like Gambit and Rogue haven’t ahd sex in a long time, um, it wasn’t that long ago that they were living together with no powers, don’t you just love Marvel…) Gambit turned down Foxxy (who in the book is supposed to look hott, Laroca couldn’t draw her scarier if he tried, oh how the mighty Laroca has fallen…) and Foxxy revealed herself to be… MYSTIQUE! Revealing that she was just testing how true Gambit’s love for Rogue was! But now Mystique has made herself look and sound like Rogue, a Rogue Gambit can actually touch, will Gambit resist temptation? Ooooh…

Iceman update - Not sure if I mentioned this but Iceman who is now 100% ice all of the time and Polaris are dating. Havok after his human being doctor girlfriend dumped him is acting really jealous over the Polaris/Iceman hook up…

If anyone knows any decent information on Sentry, I’d like to know, because his story seems to be pretty interesting, along with him being pretty damn powerful. I heard he can control light also. Who knows how many other splinter effects that could have.

Lol, there’s other forums? What’s the deal with this thread? Don’t we already have two comic book threads in General Discussion?

I didn’t really read through this thread, but I thought I might weigh in on the DCU martial artist tiers discussion.

Here’s what we (I) know.

Shiva & Batgirl > Batman - At least in terms of pure skill. You could argue that Batman could maybe beat either because of his size and strength advantage. Of the times he’s gone up against Shiva, it’s been pretty inconclusive, but it’s generally accepted that she’s just better than him. I think Batman’s admitted himself that he’s not as good as Shiva, when he was congratulating Batgirl on beating her. Batgirl’s also has a better record against Deathstroke than Batman has, which makes me think she’s a bit better.

But keep in mind that if Batman gets to use his toys - even just the standard ones in his belt - he owns everybody.

Richard Dragon > Shiva. He does pretty well against her in the last issue of the new Richard Dragon series. He’s never met Batgirl before, but I figure Batgirl’s more or less equal to Shiva, so I might still give the nod to Dragon over Batgirl. He’s been around longer too.

Batgirl >= Shiva. It’s close. But since she’s the current winner and she beat Shiva a little bit more convincingly than Shiva beat her, I would give the edge to Batgirl.

It’s true that Batgirl exploited Shiva’s death wish when they fought last, but I think it was a subconscious wish, one that she’s had for a long while - it’s why she goes around the world killing the best fighters.

Also, everyone always forgets that Batgirl had a death wish too, and she wanted to die a lot more than Shiva did. Once Batgirl lost the death wish (when Shiva convinced Batgirl the only way to stop her from continuing to kill the world’s best fighters would be to kill her) she did a lot better - managing to figure out Shiva’s subliminal death wish and exploit it - beating her. So Batgirl > Shiva.

I think the tiers for the DCU are as follows (in terms of just pure skill, not necessarily who would beat who…though pretty close).

  1. Richard Dragon
  2. Batgirl
  3. Shiva
  4. Connor Hawke (Green Arrow)
  5. Batman
  6. Bronze Tiger

Maybe switch Bronze Tiger with Batman. I think they fought to a stalemate once, but that was a long while ago.

Top tier would end there…the middle tier is a bit harder to figure out. Nightwing…? Red Hood, Black Canary, Chesire…it gets harder to order them. I think Nightwing’s the best of the middle tier though.

This is kinda fun. I’d try to figure out the Marvel one, but it’s a lot harder to distinguish where superpowers end and mad skillz begin.

It’d probably start with Mantis and Gamora in the broken tier, and maybe Shang Chi, Iron Fist, or Daredevil at the top of the top tier. Maybe tomorrow, I’m pretty tired from all the nerding I’ve done already.

This thread has been around much longer than both of those threads, it was even here before SRK’s crash. Sadly things are pretty quiet here nowadays. Anyway, thanks for the DC shtuff!

Wow, Marvel sucks at the relationship game. And as for Sentry,
-he can control light
-Super strength & speed
-A brilliant genius
-Was able to stalemate Galactus O_O!
-Has a calming aura which actually clamed down a Savage Hulk
-His darkside, the Void is a threat to the entire universe
-The Void scared the crap out of Savage Hulk

I predict that the Sentry will either be one of the few bright spots of New Avengers or that he will be another victim of the writer not knowing how to handle the character and either toning him down or altering him beyond recognition.

The thing about Sentry is that Jenkins has full control over him. Meaning another writer can’t touch him with out his permission. This gives me high hopes with his NA involvement.

Captain America Update - Since I don’t read his book, I just looked in the last issue of Wizard and found out… BUCKY IS ALIVE! And no, I’m not talking about Patriot over at Young Avengers, the real Bucky… Of all the Dumb Ass characters to ressurect… with him and Jason Todd Robin back looks like this is the year of the revived sidekicks… just please no one bring Spider-Kid back…

In House of M Scarlett Witch altered all of reality on our planet Earth so everything’s crazy. Magneto rules Genosha and all, as Mutants are up and humans are down. Captain Britain rules… well, Britain… Doctor Doom rules Latveria again and Storm rules Kenya. Spider-Man’s a celebrity, a bit of a jerk, married to Gwen Stacy, Uncle Ben is alive, methinks someone’s been watching the last episode of Fox’s Spider-Man cartoon, it’s almost the same exact thing. Points for originality, NOT!

Wizard states that big changes are coming for Spider-Man soon and all of the seeds that Amazing Spider-Man writer Stracynski planted are coming to harvest. It will have to do more with ‘Spider-People’ - Stracynski revealed Spider-Man wasn’t the first Spider person nore will he be the last, we know of Ezekiel and the first Spider person, an African who visited a Spider God and got organic webshooters to boot (and there’s been lots of Spidey Women, but that’s another story) - and Morlun will be back to beat Petey up again, ooh…

Sentry’s gonna get bigtime exposure in an upcoming New Avengers comic and he’ll also have his own series.

Great another incoming plot disaster from JMS wrecker and destroyer of continuity and characters.

I heard that the last issue of Captain America shed light on the character that used to be the Nomad, Jack Monroe I think, and possibily hints to him being insane which could mean that he himself is the
Winter Soldier.

Of what I remember reading from Wizard yesterday since I don’t read Captain America, Winter Soldier is Bucky, that’s the big reveal.

Now I’m off to see Fantastic Four and hoping I won’t be dissapointed, oh who am I kidding…

EDIT: Yeah, Fantastic Four Movie really sucked…
