The Martial Arts Movie Thread 2017 Donnie hates his fans

I thought the wirefu in Crouching Tiger was sloppy, they over shot or under shot their marks on so many occassions lol

Wire fu totally looks like shit when people do the common “launch backwards about 10 feet, then float up at the end, like they hit an invisible incline” thing

Wire fu for wuxia is cool.

finally watching marco polo. really digging it

You can watch Hundred Eyes side story too as it prequels the series, and its beyond freaking awesome.

i actually started with that first lol.

Shit you know when Polo starts to get real then lol, as much as the series is complete gold, HE steals the show every scene he is in.

Just watched Crouching Tiger on Netflix…The first half of the film was like Legend of Hercules/Xena Warrior Princess budget. Teh girl w/ the buttchin & Chang from Glee were the weak links of the film. Film really wasn’t polish at all, unlike the first one despite it being way too artsy fartsy for my taste. The bright spot was the ice skating fu, something i haven’t seen before, despite it being ridiculous.

Still no ragrets watching it. Michelle Yeoh was great!

Saw the direct-to-DVD Falcon Rising starring Michael Jai White. Pretty decent movie about MJW going to Brazilian flavelas to kick some ass. Of course Mr. Capoeira aka Lateef Crowder is in it.

Best of all, it has sequel potential.

I liked Falcon Rising cause of MJW but didnt he kill everybody in that movie and end the conspiracy? MJW is plenty great but he does too many movies with Steven Seagul syndrome, ie, am gonna fuck everybody up np without taking a scratch. Also have we already forgiven him for Skin Trade and Blood and Bone?

apparently michelle yeoh is gonna be in the second season of marco polo. i had no clue this show was so martial arts epicy. i wish someone told me alot earlier.

Yeah Marco Polo is good stuff. Sword of destiny had some weird editing going on in it. It needed to be longer imo…some of those camera angles really messed shit up.

I was watching the netflix trailer for crouching tiger, hidden dragon… and was shocked by donnie yen speaking in english lol. In all my years never really heard him speak english… it was like hearing a unicorn.

Nah never seen him in an english speaking interview either… weird.

This is what I was saying few pages back, his english is amazing especially when you compare him to Jackie, Jet or Sammo who have been far more successful in Hollywood.

Wasn’t Donnie Yen raised in Boston? Also Jackie has good english, he chooses to speak that way.

I think the main problem with Crouching Tiger was it was too fucking Americanize…In HK they go fucking hard when they do fight scenes, everything seem very little impact if any at all. For example, check out the huge difference between Jackie Chan’s The Protector final fight scene.

The american version

Then Chan decided to redo it, to fucking classic

I miss the good ol days when the movies had a shit story but wasn’t soft as Charmin tissue.

yes he grew up in china town boston and his mom is super famous for opening one of the first wushu schools in america. this nigga grew up in a hard time for boston too.

It seems that Ip Man 3 had broken some box office records in China: https://www.facebook.com/donnieyen.asia/photos/a.293463064056262.63072.120360911366479/951065291629366/?type=3
