Flashpoint is a typical Donnie Yen movie imo. It does have this funny ass scene when dude throws this kid like 50 yards into trafic. it was funny because it was an obvious dummy, lol.
True, I guess Iām just looking at all the movies he has out and they all have the similarities. I got mad hype when he was catchin dude with all those Judo throws though.
I think Flashpoint was one of Yenās last good modern-era movies. The fight scenes were good, fast and brutal, none of this over-indulging in mma grappling ridiculousness like in Special ID slowing down the action. Just locks into knees or throws. For some reason, aside from Iron Monkeyā¦I just donāt care for kung-fu movies set in ancient history-to-last century china. That reminds me, I still have to see Kill Zone.
Kill zone was dope as heck dude. I understand chan not wanting to turn bad guy, but I have a feeling he would be an amazing bad guy, and in some weird way I think chan knows he will be really good as a bad guy also.
Anyone got any suggestions for movies showcasing Japanese martial arts 9Karate, Aikido, Judo, etc). I know Segal does Aikido and stuff, and of course the honorable Sonny Chiba (Terry Surugi in the Street Fighter series). But I was wondering if there are any other Japanese martial arts movies. I am still getting my weight up when it comes to samurai and ninja films (actually I could use some good Ninja movie recommendations as well).
Anyway a couple of fight scenes from Japanese martial arts movies that I like.
So, if I may request you allās help, Iām trying to remember a martial arts film I saw as a kid. My memory of it is pretty vague since I doubt I was even 10 yet so stuff like who it starred or who directed it, I canāt really give. But anyways,
-It was an old film, pretty certain itās pre-90s but I wonāt say itās impossible to have been during that decade, but the quality was pretty old.
-IIRC, the main character was a Chinese taxi cart runner (those guys who grab the cart and run to the location with the people in the cart).
-This next bit is harder to remember, but I believe the villains were a group of guys that caused trouble around the area. I honestly donāt remember if they were thugs, or sailors, or what.
-There is a scene of a man (I believe the main character) donating a ton of blood for money.
-Thereās a bar room brawl between the thugs and the main character. I think this results in them all being put into jail for a short period of time (I do remember a scene of them being in jail, but Iām not sure if this was the reason, but they werenāt there for long).
-The film had a recurring theme song (no vocals, just music) that played multiple times, including the final fight scene.
-I THINK the main characterās rivalry with the thugs and their leader came from them abusing his girlfriend or something. I think.
-The final fight scene involves the main character ambushing the thugs at some warehouse and killing them one by one (well, at least I think so, I do remember for sure that one of them was on a conveyor belt into an incinerator that he couldnāt escape). Finally, the main character and the thug leader duke it out with the main theme playing.
-The thug leader guy had a beard IIRC.
There are other tidbits I may remember if this isnāt enough info, but itās been eating on me for years trying to remember this film and my father who showed me it doesnāt remember the name either. I think āHonorā was in the title but that may have been because I played a lot of Rise to Honor when I was younger.
